It's people who make the difference

It's people who make the difference. Having forgotten specs and desperately needing to work on my paper's puzzle pages during a train journey I went to Boots at Waverley Station. Not only did I find a good display of inexpensive reading glasses but I met a very cheerful checkout guy Ovidiu, who reminded me to tryout the glasses' strength, commiserated on my having left my own glasses at home and wished me well for my journey. All this at 8 am!

Lacking communication skills

Yes it’s relatively cheap and does the job of getting you from A to B, but why are its passengers treated like cattle?
Returning from Porto to Edinburgh yesterday our plane was delayed - no great problem apart from the fact that we were all by now in the gate area so nowhere for most people to sit, a couple of announcements were made but were inaudible- so why didn’t staff sort that? When a bus arrived we were still left waiting for ten mins before being allowed to board - no explanation. The bus arrived at the plane where we were kept waiting in a line for 10 mins before being allowed onto the plane - all that was needed was for a single one of the eight Ryan Air employees we could see to just speak to people explaining the delays.

Problems with cancelation.

Another company that has automatic renewal. That's not necessarily a problem - if the website allows you to stop the renewal on your account page. Norton doesn't. And their chat support page doesn't answer with a human even after I've logged on and been sent a verification code. Ah well, I've still got a couple of weeks to keep trying.
Norton have been in touch and cancelled the subscription so I'm upping the rating to three stars. Please consider stopping the auto-renewal, Norton.

Cheerful, timely, cost-saving delivery.

Once a month perhaps we order a delivery from Sainsbury's and unfailingly this is problem free. Today for example, a cheerful driver (Jordan) delivered within the time slot and went the extra-mile to deliver to our garage rather than front door (I had forgotten to specify this in the instructions). Practically everything we had ordered was available. (We use the no substitution option). This saves us all the heavy shopping (We don't use a car), and Nectar price cuts work well for us too.

Beware this site bites.

pdf-pro.io Beware! I wanted to print a form, accepted the 50p charge and didn't read the small print that I would be liable for £29.90 per month thereafter. As the fraud department of my bank said - Read the whole form!
It's simple enough surely -As a legit company you should ask your clients clearly if they would like to sign up for a monthly fee not begin charging after 48 hours. I've cancelled my (unwanted) subscription.
The form I needed was provided as requested.

Read the fine print

Trainline suggest you take out insurance for a modest sum to cover missed trains etc. I did this. I missed all my trains because of illness and so followed the directions e-mailed to me by Trainline. I was sent forms by a company called ERGO.
I read that I was required to obtain an (illness) Self Certification form. (This may have been a mistake. There were several parts to the form and I may have read the wrong part of ERGO's long form.) Two days later my bank's fraud squad are telling me about a transaction that I certainty didn't expect and is linked to my request for Self Certification! Does Trainline have any responsibility? - ERGO don't make it simple to apply for a refund. They don't run the barely legal Self Certification site, but they don't warn about it either. As the Bank have said to me "You have to read the fine details on all these forms carefully.' Thankfully the bank blocked the payments.
I see that Trainline ask me to get in touch. When I attempt to do this using the link below (in their reply) I'm told that my ticket is non-refundable. That I knew! That's why I took out the insurance.

It's the little details count

On Time, carefully handled package and the driver couldn't have been more helpful. I don't know how many places he delivers to be he appears to remember details ( for example: which garage door out of a row to deliver to!)

It's the people make the difference

It's the people make the difference. I journeyed from Aberdeen to Edinburgh on 26th March. The three carriage train had no buffet and was busy: by the time we reached Fife people were standing, but the Guard on this 12.44 train couldn't have been more helpful. He ensured that passageways were kept clear (but did so politely if firmly). He continually broadcast a plea for passengers to keep luggage off the seats so that those getting on at the next station would find somewhere to sit. He dealt with a person who hadn't got the correct pass politely - I only noticed this because they happened to be opposite me. This is why we need guards on trains! It's the reassurance that if there's a problem it will be sorted. Just one request- if there's no refreshments trolley isn't it possible to let passengers know before they the board the train? Oh! Congratulations to the cleaning team too - it's good to find you're getting on board a clean train.

Snowball.

I've been supporting this charity for a couple of years and wonder why this model isn't used more. It's a 'snowball'. If you contribute an amount each month and as loans are repaid add the repayments to the monthly contribution, then of course the figure gradually increases. I attended a talk given by the charity about a year ago and came away reassured that these people are trying hard to make a difference. I hope that even more people from more countries will be able to take part. The admin costs appear to be being kept low - I'm guessing that admin staff are working pretty hard to achieve this. I see every reason to continue supporting this charity.
