Review of Environet UK
I chose this company to investigate my knotweed problem as they were both local and seemingly a solid trustworthy company, judging by their website.
I booked a survey, which was charged at £400, and included a report. This seemed excessive, but as I had little knowledge of dealing with such companies, assumed it would involve a certain amount of inspection and investigation by a specialist. In fact, I messaged the company about this point and was reassured that this was the case.
However, the actual visit proved otherwise! The rep was pleasant and knowledgeable, but did little more than inspect the plant, do a visual of the garden to check for possible further outbreaks, take a few photos and record some measurements to see if our gates were wide enough for a mini digger. Hopefully, the promised report would be more revealing....
Unfortunately, when it arrived, it contained few details of our situation, it was merely a collection of cut and pasted quotes for different types of treatment. None specific to my situation and no outline plan or scheme of work was contained. And the sum of £1500-£2000 for a residential outbreak mentioned on the website guide had ballooned to a massive £6000 plus annual inspection fees! All this for a solitary small bush well clear of any buildings.
On reflection, this just seems like a high level scam on the lines of all those damp proof/dry rot treatments that were oversold in the '70s. I have, in effect, paid Environet UK £400 for the privilege of having a generic quote for some work. Amazing!

Review of Rakuten Kobo
I have an original Kindle and a Paperwhite. The original has buttons which I love but a grey screen. The Paperwhite has a touch screen which I hate but a lovely white screen.
Time to see if could find something that combines the best points of both!
Having read horror stories about Amazon still owning books one has purchased and even removing them from ones device, I felt it was time to look elsewhere. Kobo was well spoken of, so I trialled a Color and a Forma.
The Color was small with washed out colors but had lovely buttons. The Forma was slim, larger but had fiddly buttons.
As I only read text, the Color was not chosen. Instead I went with the Forma. I soon got used to the buttons and its extra size but slim body made it a joy to use.
I purchased the Forma direct from Kobo as a refurbished item (really, it was new) and it was promptly supplied complete with (unspecified) warranty.
I now own all my books! So glad I made the switch.

Review of The AA Insurance
I have only given 4 stars at the moment as I have no experience of trying to contact the company or make a claim. Too many insurers get high ratings because they are excellent at the purchasing stage, but woefully bad with later customer contact. I have little reason to believe this would be the case with the AA however.
When my QMH renewal came up, I did the usual and checked against comparison sites. There were lots of quotes much cheaper than mine, but a quick search revealed appalling reviews regarding customer service and contacts. Some didn't even provide a phone number!
I tried a final comparison site - MSE - and one of the best quotes was from the AA. Unlike the companies mentioned above, I have great confidence in the AA to offer first rate customer care, so my business went to them. Their good name definitely inspired confidence!

Product was well described, keenly priced, and dispatched as per listing. Free postage over £50 was a bonus worth having too!

I've been with QMH for a good few years now - they offer good cover at a very reasonable price - and best of all, you can make amendments online without charge. Compare that to other companies!
I also had recent problems with my Account Portal - it turned out to be a browser issue on my machine - but QMH were very supportive and helpful with online assistance.
Review of Allica Bank
What you see is what you get - a headline interest rate, well in excess of the miserly rates offered by banks - and a simple account opening procedure.
Another bonus - unlike banks, you wont get spammed to death after opening an account.
Never heard of Allica Bank before, but they are well reviewed and part of the FCA protection scheme, so your investment is safe.
Review of Openreach
Ka was our engineer - we were having a full fibre install. All was discussed prior to work starting, he then worked diligently and professionally to remove the old copper and install the new fibre.
Everything was left neat and tidy, with all mess cleared. The new install was then fired up and tested with helpful explanations.
First class, Openreach!

Parcel simply dumped in front of front door - courier rang and ran.
Then recorded that he had left it "in a safe place".
However, Customer Services have since contacted me and have gone the extra mile to assure me that this is not standard practice and have made contact with the driver and his depot.
Consequently, and as it would be unfair to malign a company because of the actions of one individual, I am happy to re-grade my experience.

Review of Hunt Bike Wheels
Since PlanetX pointed me in the direction of Hunt Wheels, I have now ordered two wheelsets. One for my mtb, the other for my endurance bike.
Both, naturally, came with budget versions of name wheel brands. Hunt supplied top quality replacements that were both lighter and better specced for not much money.
Service and advice were second to none - they'll even let you return your wheelset after 60 days if not delighted with them.
Needless to say, I haven't returned either of mine!

Much better than the flakey EasyMail app - this just works.
Also like the picture filter for mail - a reassuring addition.
Review of Admiral Insurance
Almost impossible to contact the company except by phone (which they advise people not to contact them on due to "high demand"!)
Searching for a possible email contact led to endless FAQ pages or a promised webchat facility that never materialised.
Therefore, almost impossible to check if travel policy has the universally hated Auto Renewal feature without actually phoning in. This should be visible and changeable via the User Portal page, surely.

Great communications, first class service and an extended warranty to die for.
Oh, and a killer special offer price on my Naim!
Review of Mm3digital
I am ok with purchasing digital licences - I know there are some scammers out there, particularly on the major auction and selling sites, but if you do your due diligence, you should be fine.
I normally buy from TheUnitySoft, but this time, MM3 were cheaper, so they got the order. The many positive reviews were encouraging as was the fact that they publish an actual address in Covent Garden. The vibes were good!
The purchase was as expected - a quick email with licence and instructions - a simple download, and voila! activation.
All is working well (MS Office 21) - thank you MM3!!

Review of Insulation4less
This company offered keen prices and a lower delivery cost break point than others, but at what cost for good service?
I needn't have worried as the entire process was handled very smoothly and professionally - especially as, after ordering, I needed to change my Celotex thickness. I feared the worst, but Ryan went the extra mile for me - many thanks!
Delivery for me was via SIG - most helpful driver, and a smaller flatbed was used to deliver as our road is a tad narrow.

Review of Pure Cremation
I was hooked in by the simple but effective TV ads = and given an incentive by a planned future price increase.
The whole process was smooth and effortless, the form filling was minimal and payment choices were plentiful.
Reassuring was the FCA status of Pure Cremation plus the existence of an independent trust fund to keep funds safe. All was clearly laid out and explained.
Finally, imitation being the sincerest form of flattery, have you noticed how many competitors have started to copy this excellent idea?

Review of SMARTY
A good value offering - I switched after my previous provider introduced roaming charges - the signal and service have been reliable.
Is there a downside? Possibly - if you need assistance, the call centre will probably be overseas based.
Otherwise, I have no regrets at switching.
