I am just writing this review because I am very frustrated with the response from customer support. I paid for priority and tracked shipping so that a friend could receive a birthday present in time. However it it has now been over 3 weeks since placing the order and still I have not received my package. My friend who ordered non-priority shipping ordered her parcel 10 days after me and received her package a week ago. I don’t understand how this acceptable service, and when I have acquired about compensation I have either received an automated reply or no reply at all.

scam

I really am not one to usually write reviews, but I can’t ignore how ridiculous this is. I scanned 10 books, which already scanned at a much lower price to when bought, and was told I was entitled to £40. I understood that as I was selling secondhand, so I went ahead with it, despite the fact some textbooks that were bought for £30 (a recent purchase) scanned to below a pound. After delivering my books I have been informed that because of certain ‘conditions’, £30 out of my original £40 will have to be deducted. I am aware that the books were not in pristine condition, however they were certainly not badly damaged at all, barely had any annotations, and were perfectly fine to be used secondhand. Furthermore, when I asked to have the items returned, the cost of gaining those items back would end up being more than my total amount given to me in the first place. In no where on the app or website was it clearly outlined that this would be the situation, and they obviously do this for a reason. I find it no coincidence that the books that were worth the most were the ones deemed conveniently ‘damaged’ and I think it is a disgusting mistreatment of customers to deliberately make such information so hidden. As I said, I usually disagree with complaints being made to companies as I usually understand where the company is coming from, but this really is unfair and greedy. I wouldn’t recommend to anyone to use this service, it appears convenient but is actually a big waste of money, you can get much more for the books you have elsewhere. I will not be using this service again.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. Unfortunately we cannot pay for items that don't match the condition guidelines because we cannot find a use for them. We don't cover the return postage costs as we have paid to receive the items under the agreement that they pass the condition guidelines. We regularly do checks to ensure we are paying competitive prices, books are priced on the demand for them in the marketplace, this is why the price can be low if the demand for the item is low. We are not a scam and want our customers to have a good selling experience, but I'm afraid we cannot pay for items that are not in a condition that we can sell on.
