Review of Shearings Holidays

Shearings poor communication …

This was our first Shearings holiday and the last one Shearings were taken over by Leger after COVID ..Prior to the pandemic they had a good reputation as a coach tour operator .We booked the Cotswold tour thinking we would have less of a journey from Plymouth I was horrified to get our original pick up time of 4.40 am and then to Rugby to pick up the main coach and then back
down to the Cotswolds another 3 hours, absolutly ridiculous .Fortunately they changed the pick up time to 9.40 am and we went straight to the hotel ,well after doing a tour of Somerset to pickup people .The hotel Delta by Marriott was good ,in a beautiful setting lovely clean spacious rooms very comfortable beds the food was ok plenty and well presented however the driver of this tour was not good he was very poor .We arrived separately to the main coach party who had all been given details of the proceedure ordering the evening meal by filling out a form choosing from three choices.We were told nothing ,the driver /tour guide Steve was conspicuous by his absence didnt make himself known to us and we were left initially without any food .We had to speak to the waiting staff to sort it out ,one lady in particular called Emma was excellent such a hard worker always with a smile and very helpful she is an asset to the hotel.
Our driver Steve appeared not to wish to engage with the passengers as you would expect a tour driver to very vague and no information about the places we were visiting we also went round several roundabouts more than once while he looked for the correct exit .On leaving Stow in the Wold we travelled for a good twenty minuites down some narrow roads only to find ourselves back in Stow again, no explanation given The coach was very long much longer than standard coaches and he may have had problems reversing as it was too big to fit in some of the coach parking spaces .Steve was a man of few words and the only real information he gave was about the cost of the drinks and snacks on board although
witb other companies the water was free .Shearings seem.to operate in a chaotic fashion and information is lacking .The mini bus driver who picked us up from the hotel was told he was picking us from a coach and waited in thr wrong place so it wasnt until someone searched him.out that we were able to leave half a hour late, he had been given the incorrrct information.All the problems were the fault of Shearings poor communication ,so we would not recommend them there are better tour operators .The three stars are basically for the hotel ,the excellent staff and beautiful location .

The role of our driver's is important to many of our guests, and while the level of interaction may vary between individuals, we understand the value of clear communication and local insight throughout the trip. We also appreciate your observations regarding the evening meal process upon arrival and the lack of initial guidance. We regret any confusion this caused. It’s good to hear that the hotel staff were responsive and ensured you were looked after.

Almost missed our holiday

Zero stars but there is no option for that A taxi firms reputation is only as good as its reliability which must be consistsnt.I booked a pick up with them for this morning at 8.40 am to take us to our coach joining point we had to be there at 9 40am .I confirmed the booking with them yesterday and even received a 'We will be with you in the next hour message at 7.45am this motning.We waited outside at the appointed pickup time and my phone rings they are sorry but cannot find any drivers to pick us up do we want to cancel !!!!!! .We have by this time 35 mins to meet the coach no time to order a new taxi as it would have to get to us that is if one is available.Fortunately our neighbour came to the rescue we had to wake him up but he very kindly gave us a lift .It matters not how many good reviews this company gets it only takes one experience like ours to.throw their reliability into question .I have used them before but will not be using them agiin .Reliability is all if they cannot be relied on to fulfill a booking then all the good reviews are meaningless

Stupidly high renewal cost

We have been with direct line for years Car and Home Insurance just had our renewal cost through and its double what ir was last year .All other insurers are cheaper or about the same cost it was last year .on our renewal form there was a note saying we had anended the policy through car modification we have not,the car is exactly the same it was last year I suspect they make these errors so you ring up their expensive phone line and they make even more money .Needless to say I have found the same comprehensive insurance policy with another company the CO OP for £250 which is half what Direct Line are quoting me .

Not worth reading

Recently they have altered users profile page so you can no longer read your comments or see which comment got the most interest ,dont know what they think the benefit will be .The online paper has started to resemble the disgraced News of the World its no longer worth reading anymore they are trawling the internet looking for stories rather than using proper journalists and are more likely using AI to get their stories .

Bad Christmas Day experience at Plymouth Miller & Carter

I have already complained to this company about the very poor experience we had on Christmas Day and they have sent us a £50 voucher in compensation .However this cannot fully compensate for the disappointment we had on what is supposed to be the highlight meal of the year in
fact it spoilt Christmas Day completely .We had a good experience at this restaurant on Christmas Day a couple of years ago and decided that we would go again as we had been happy with the meals quality and good service
This time it was clear the kitchen could not cope .The place was very busy and although there appeared to be plenty of serving staff we were waiting at least an hour between each course .The smoked duck looked and tasted like ham on a bed of raw broccoli and lettuce, my husbands fillet steak was tough ,when is fillet steak tough remember this is a steak house that advertises on the basis that its steaks are excellent ,both my meal and my husbands was luke warm .On complaint to our rather harassed waiter he said he would try and change the starter for something else only to be told on his return that his manager said because all the food was pre ordered there was nothing they could do about it !
We almost walked out waiting for our Christmas puddings to arrive the wait was so long and when they arrived they were luke warm too .There was absolutely no point in asking for the food to be reheated it would gave probably taken another hour to arrive. The quality of the food was not good and the very expensive experience not one I wish to repeat next year.I have accepted their voucher but wont be using it against a Christmas meal there again .

Superb customer service …

Well after writing a very negative review re cancellation of my order .I reordered another size and the same thing happened again my order was cancelled even though the website said 2 dresses available. I was really cross and contacted Sosandar customer service and a lovely lady rang me she was very apologetic and said she would do all she could to honour my order .Today she called back and said they are sending me the dress I ordered in my original order size, it will be delivered tomorrow .I cannot fault the customer service she said they are looking into their order system where an item is very popular as it does not seem able to give the correct information keeping up with stock levels .I couldnt ask for better service hence the 5 star review .This is what you expect from a customer focused company five stars indeed!

Told item ordered unavailable

They sent me an email saying a particular dress was back in stock .I ordered it no problem two days later I get an email saying item is unavailable .Not good enough service, it happened to be that the size I wanted was unavailable, they should ensure their ordering system is accurate and kept up to date especially for popular items .

Excellent service

Have used their services a couple of times now and can highly recommend them .My orders arrived swiftly , the ordering process was very easy and the questionnaire very comprehensive and dealt with immediately by the doctor and pharmacy .

Disgusting Quality

If I could give zero stars I would absolutely disgusting quality and service .Ordered plants some time ago had to send an email to chase them up no reply .They arrived today well they were dead very poor quality little plug plants meant to be Nemisia Vanilla Mist all I got was dried up plants all dead .No phone service to complain and I have not had a reply yet to my email asking where these plants were.I would not recommend this company at all. Other garden plant companies I ordered from have delivered on time and good quality . I dont believe any of the 5 star reviews and certainly would never use thus company again .Save your money and take heed of the negative reviews I wish I had checked them out on Trust Pilot first .

Whats not to like !!!

Great website , really user friendly , clear instructions , and excellent payout service . I have achieved over £100 in cashback already this year and have recommended Topcashback to all my friends . Lots of payouts are made quickly, you have to wait a while for some but Topcashback make this very clear and Ive had no problems at all . So whats not to like highly recommended !!!!
