Diamond in the Rough
I am a 69 year old semi retired commercial artist living in NYC. I've recently fallin into the rabbit hole of Budget Audiophilia ! In the past 4 months I have made 4 substantial purchases from MCRU ( David). I am in the process of switching out every cable, power supply, mains, speaker and subwoofer cable and linear power supplies with David's artistry. On a1-5 Star rating I would give them a 10 ! Explanations to follow:
Although not "chatty"; I found David to be professional and generous. If you approach him in a straightforward way you will receive informed direct answers to direct questions. . Expect that if he is out of stock and you are respectful when notified that he might give you a better product than what you paid for. Show me any company that will do that . Shipping costs are what they are. They are in the UK and I am in the states; this is not Amazon I do not expect free shipping or even reduced priced shipping. If shipping is slow ; its no fault of MCRU. They have to pack and label each order; time and supplies equals money.
I normally do not take time to write reviews but David gave me a free upgrade and I was compelled to write a favorable review and read the other positive reviews that I was sure to find. I was shocked by the mixed reviews! If you are reading these reviews and considering making a purchase from MCRU I would first suggest you read their " About US" on their website. This is a "mom and pop" shop in every sense of the word. Every minute they spend chatting is time taken away from orders they have to fill from paying customers. Once I realized that I have never sent a " hey where's my stuff" email. If you are in a hurry then buy a lesser product on Amazon. You won't find the quality of what he does there or for that matter anywhere else. Finally the rating system is flawed. The ratings should be weighted. A negative review from a 6 dollar CD purchase should not receive the same weight as a positive review for a product costing a 1000 dollars. ( IMHO). Email is the best way to communicate with them but keep it brief and concise. Remember to enjoy the music !

When is a Furutech brush not a Furutech brush
I ordered a Furutech Brush but received a Yukimu Super Audio brush in a Furutech box!!? My research has shown that while the 2 brushes are very similar and to all purposes do exactly the same thing but the Yukimo is significantly cheaper. I find this a questionable practice at best. As I ordered a Furutech product, that is what I should have received. There was no communication that the brush was being cynically swapped out.

Customer service could be better
Purchased two CDs (postage cost £6.95). Sent one CD and one record by mistake. Eventually rectified one month later. Nice lady on the phone but poor email communication from the owner (hence I had to phone).

Supplied a power supply with connector on which is incorrect for the item that it was purchased for.. made me feel that it was my fault even tho i sent proof that the connector was too short and of wrong type told me that they have not got time or resources to deal with the issue.no doubt they will make an excuse on here.anybody who wants to see the photos are welcome.

Great bunch of guys I purchased a 6 gang audiophile power block at Christmas unfortunately I miss measured the length of power chord the kind team altered the length free of charge I'd highly recommend the site for hi-fi enthusiasts
High Carrier Charges!
Went to order 4 mains cables in their sale. Total cost around £145.00 then a choice of £10.00 - £15.00 carrier charges!
Royal Mail would have been cheaper & would have the compensation to cover it. Emptied the basket & went looking elsewhere.
Northwest audio show best find!
I first came across MCRU at the northwest audio show purchasing some power leads.
Since then I have now replaced all my power leads with their excellent products!
Running them through mains conditioner's the difference to standard lead's is night and day!
My system has much better base, mids and separation.
Many say lead's are snake oil, I say give MCRU a go before you dismiss these products!

David is a genius, he gives you great advice and will tell you what's best for your set up. The cable was ordered Friday evening and arrived on Tuesday ... very well designed. I highly recommend MRCU.
Honest, to the point and a superb product!
This is my second review for MCRU as it's a completely differnt purchase, I recently bought a Lab12 Melto2 phono stage and to be honest it has blown me away, I can't believe the performance for the price, the advice was to the point and honest as usual and the item arrived the next day (earlier than promised), I'm now looking at my next purchese here for DIN cables!

Purchase of a DS Audio cartridge. This is a highly specialist device and requires a well informed dealer to supply. I am pleased to say that advice was both honest and plentiful from someone who clearly knows his products and believes in them. Absolutely no ‘hard sell’ and an invitation to make up one’s own mind as to the performance of the product. Delivered on time with a quality courier. Top marks.

The owner David Brooks is really a very unhelpful individual with quite an appalling manner. Shockingly bad after sales support and really no knowledge of consumer rights. No guaranteed delivery date, and a claim that this is because he is struggling to meet demand. This is one for the small claims court as people like this just should be allowed to do business. I’ve lost £440 right now as no sign of the product and no guaranteed delivery date. AVOID!!

Added to this the majority of the this mains stuff is snake oil - it doesn’t improve the sound at all. Speak to any high end manufacturer technical departments and they all say the same, unless you are buying low end junk the equipment has all the filtering required, why else do companies like Linn sells streamers at 20k+ with standard power cords! DC on power lines is all rubbish, the power amps convert AC to DC anyway!

Ordered mains conditioner, after 11 days no sign of the item, asked about ETA, reply was basically wait we are busy, chased again and response was do you want a refund, no apology, no you should get it within the next couple of days ,,,,based on MCRU replies, I decided on a refund,, terrible customer service, cannot comment on product as never received!
