Seems to be some sort of scam happening…

Seems to be some sort of scam happening with magento name being used or directly from them (maybe an untrustworthy insider) using this website as a supplement of legitimacy. magento-opensource . com.
I am looking for remote work and they popped up using whatsapp as a tool of communication but refuse to get on the phone because apparently AI will produce a written document of these onboarding conversation as its more time efficient. OKAAAY but no employer is a silent one, its only normal to build rapport with your potential candidate/employee. Strange. The job description will go a bit like this via whatsapp msg ‘Most online shoppers choose products with more reviews, right? All we have to do is increase the popularity of Product A, and in return, the merchants will bring us revenue through the platform’… then this person named ‘Isab****’ tell you ‘Okay, so now I will let you register an account and use my account to learn and earn 25% commission.’ Looks like theyll use you and take the money youve earned; theres nothing to keep you safe and make it fair. Just a load of criminal activity and nonsense. I just blocked them.

Magento is asking us to pay a licencing fee without using their product.

3 years ago, the company I work for (The Felt Store) made the decision to move our e-commerce platform to Magento Enterprise. The combination of magneto licensing and development services were a big investment for our medium sized company, however from prior research done this would be well worth the investment. In 2016 we entered into a 3-year licensing agreement with Magento and chose a development partner endorsed as a “trusted Magento partner” on the Magento enterprise website to set us up on the platform. We were advised to get the license for development by Magento. In hindsight, the license was not required to be done until roll out as the developer should have had a license to develop on as they were a trusted developer partner. 2 years into the development process the development partner had still not launched our site as we encountered several delays and then issues during UAT. This was both time consuming and extremely frustrating because we had already payed $44,000 USD worth in licensing fees without having been able to use the platform. The recommended development partner was completely unprofessional and clearly not evaluated by Magento prior to giving them their status and recommending them. After trying for months to cooperate with the development partner, we finally made the tough decision to cut our losses and stop investing any more resources into a site that we didn’t foresee ever working under the agreed upon project scope. One month prior to the start of the 3rd year of licensing, we reached out to Magento explaining our experience with their recommended “trusted Magento partner” and requesting to cancel the final year of the contract that was not going to be utilised. Despite sending a detailed report of all the issues encountered, a Manager with Magento would not speak with us to hear our reasoning for not moving forward with the 3rd year of licensing. Instead, Magento sent this case to collections stating this is not their problem. We are now expected to pay a remaining $22,000 USD for a platform that we can’t use. Based on our negative experience I would not recommend Magento as an e-commerce selling solution.

Don't judge a book by its cover...

looks good, but is clunky, hit and miss whether it works or not, I have spent around 50-60 hours to get this package going, and i still have to manually add product images, enable the products. you have to use a third party program (circa $250) to even get close to uploading images.

Cube cart took me 4 hours to do from start to finish.

i can see why (if they have the big businesses they claim to use it) have full-time developers working on it.
It has a lot of potential, but has a long way to go before it can be classed as a "good" e-commerce store.
How they charge 1500 a month to host this package i do not know!

not impressed at all.
