Price increase from initial amount that was quoted..
This happened at the Aspen dental on Whiskey rd in Aiken S.C. I called and made an appointment to have two simple extractions, and I asked what the total price would be as I was paying out of pocket. I was told $545.00 for everything. They insisted on two appointments even though I made it clear I could only pay for one appointment. That the amount would not be more than what I was told whether it was one appointment or two. I get there and at first the receptionist did not see my appointment and had to ask someone else (Red flag #1) Then I was told that the total cost would be over $700 I was thinking what the hell kind of shit is this. The woman I talked to on the phone said I was never told how much it would be which was a lie. (Red flag #2) I stood there for a couple seconds thinking this woman just bold faced lied in my face about the price I was told on the phone when making the appointment. (Red flag # 3) I told them I was going somewhere else and walked out. If a business of any kind can't be truthful to the price amount, they quoted you or even the discussions that took place that business doesn't deserve to have you as a client or customer. I gave A 1 star but actually if I could it would be 0 stars. Don't make an appoint with Aspen dental.
Beware of this place
Beware of this place! Aspen cancelled TWO appointments and failed to tell me prior to my arrival at the office. One was cancelled because they knew they did not have paperwork, failed to follow up as they stated they would, and only called me 10 minutes prior to the appointment to tell me that they had just received it but to still come into the office. When I arrived, Keith (said he was the office manager) explained they had to cancel because the doctor did not have time to review the paperwork. I had already taken off work for the procedure and was turned away because of their poor management. For the second one, staff called me on a Monday at 5:15pm (appointment was next day at 2:30pm) and informed me payment for unrelated services was due prior to completing the cleaning that I had already paid for. I explained I was disputing that billing. She asked if I wanted to cancel my appointment and I stated no. She said that she would speak to her manager and call back in the morning. I received no call and so I showed up at my scheduled time to learn that they cancelled the appointment AGAIN and did not inform me of such. This is poor customer service and cost me travel time plus time off of work TWICE.
As to billing, they do not update your insurance benefits and give you incorrect insurance “estimates” and tell you prior to the procedure that your insurance will cover the procedures and give an insurance discount for what is not covered. However, months after your procedure, you will receive a bill for anything insurance did not cover due to their failure to properly verify benefits. They claim that it is only estimates so they can charge you after for more, but had they correctly verified benefits prior to the procedure, the costs would be known upfront. I believe they do what they do to conceal how much they will actually charge you later when it is too late. Also, if you pay for a service (which I paid for my cleaning up front) that money does not actually go to the cleaning as you are told it would but is held in your account with them as a credit and they apply it to any bills including those in dispute.
Aspen is a corporation who prioritizes profit of customer service, hides their fees, and cancels appointments whenever they want. I was supposed to receive a call from the regional manager today but as suspected, I did not. I have cancelled all future appointments with them and if I were you, I would NEVER go there. I wish I had never gone there.
Highway robbery
Even with insurance EVERY time I went for my appointments I owed more money and they refused to do the work unless I paid!
NEVER EVER use Aspen Dental
NEVER EVER use Aspen Dental. It's a bait and switch. Original plan was to include fillings some extractions 2 partials for 6K. Found out today, they changed the plan without my knowledge. Now to include fillings they want an additional $4800. Bringing my out of pocket expenses from $427 to $3600. Mind you, this is for only three (3) fillings. Biggest rip off ever!
Made an appointment to have a cleaning
Made an appointment to have a cleaning. Online when you book the appointment it even ask what are you looking to have done. Got there just to be called in the back. Seen by 3 different “dentist” never got a cleaning just them taking pics and calling out numbers as they were poking my gums and teeth. Next I was sat in a different room like a office just to have a saleswoman basically come on hand me a book of papers saying I needed all kinds of work done and its going to be 8000$ how would you like to pay.
Umm pay for what? My husband works for the government and we have great insurance but you still are telling me it’s 8000$ AFTER MY dental insurance pays their part? I told her I’m not paying that so as any good sales person would do she proceeds to tell me about their financing program. Smh
Oh and I forgot to mention that my husband also had an appointment that same day same place for the same thing a basic cleaning and he also was told THE SAME THING. Gave him the same price it would cost down to the exact $ and cent smh now ain’t that a coinky dink
I am writing to formally express my…
I am writing to formally express my deep dissatisfaction with my recent experience at Aspen Dental. Unfortunately, it has been the most disappointing dental experience I have ever had.
After my initial consultation, I was placed in the doctor’s office to wait for a routine cleaning. The office was overcrowded with patients, and I waited for over an hour without anyone updating me on the delay or expected wait time. At that point, I chose to leave and notified the staff at checkout that my cleaning had not been performed.
Despite receiving no services, I was shocked to receive an invoice one month later for $138. As a patient with dental insurance, I know that my deductible is $35. It was immediately clear that Aspen attempted to bill me directly instead of properly submitting the claim to my insurance provider.
Over the course of three separate billing letters, I repeatedly called ASPEN office and explained that this claim must be submitted to my insurance. Each time, I made it clear that I was willing to pay my deductible once insurance had been billed. Instead, Aspen Dental escalated this matter to a collection agency, which is both unacceptable and damaging.
Full upper dentures are cracked again
Full upper dentures are cracked again, I do not eat in them because I have went through 3 upper dentures since I started treatment with Aspen. At this point, I may need to go elsewhere.
Dr. Rami Alanbari is the whole package of a perfect dentist!
I wouldn't want any other dentist to take care of my teeth. My first impression (and that of Aspen Dental in Bossier City, La) was beyond impressed. Dr. Rami is the full package of what I would want in a dentist. He listens, yes, looks you straight in the eyes, reviews thoroughly the x-rays/actual teeth, explains in a way that we little peons understand. Is SUPER friendly, down to earth, funny, compassionate, friendliest smile (which you can see is genuine), and I guess, for us cat lovers, he loves cats. So now that I shared my impression about him as a person, as a dentist, the whole procedure (anesthesia shot, and crown procedure) went flawlessly, and yep, without any pain, and we all know that not all anesthesia actually mask the pain on certain procedures (ie; drilling close to the pulp). From start to finish, when he ask how I am doing, I gave him the thumbs up. I can honestly say, including the rest of the team, this is the first dental clinic (and believe me, I've been to many in my childhood/adulthood), this is the first clinic that made me not only feel at ease from the time I walked in, but also the only one that made me laugh.... and that without laughing gas (LOL). Nope, I prefer the shot, so my review is remembering the visit(s), and still ongoing, with a clear mind. ;-) If you haven't been to the dentist for a while, they do NOT judge you, and genuinly understand that we are all just human, and Dr. Rami, and the team, is there to make you comfortable as possible, work with you, and treat you with care. I swear, if Dr. Rami ever leaves, I will hunt him down. LOL Give Aspen/Dr. Rami a try, and you will see EXACTLY what I mean. Dr. Rami is the whole package of what a dentist should be. THE END! :-)
No such thing as an emergency
No such thing as an emergency
Dear Aspen Dental – Denton, Texas,
I am writing to formally express my concerns regarding my recent experience at your office. This is the honest truth, and I share it with the expectation of being treated with dignity and transparency.
I transferred my care to your office to be closer to home. Prior to my visit, I had a deep cleaning, scaling, and laser treatment performed at another dental practice. I informed your staff of this and provided the name of the previous provider, expecting that my records would be requested to ensure continuity of care. However, no effort was made to obtain those records, despite my clear communication.
When I arrived, I was told I needed another deep cleaning before any further work could be done. I explained that I had just completed that treatment two months prior. The receptionist then informed me that the dentist would not proceed with any treatment—including extractions—unless I agreed to another deep cleaning. This was not only medically unnecessary but felt like an attempt to upsell services that my insurance would not cover.
I am deeply concerned that profit appears to be prioritized over patient care. I was not offered antibiotics or alternative treatment options, and my request for extractions was dismissed without consideration of my recent dental history. This approach contradicts the ethical principle of “do no harm.”
I have submitted a formal complaint to the appropriate regulatory authorities, including the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners, and I am requesting a full review of my case. I believe patients deserve care that is medically sound, ethically grounded, and free from unnecessary financial pressure.
I respectfully request that Aspen Dental review its intake and treatment protocols, especially regarding record transfers and patient communication. Dentists should not refuse treatment based on assumptions or upselling strategies, particularly when patients are in pain or seeking urgent care.
Sincerely,
Don’t do it
First I went in for an implant estimate
. They wanted way too much. So we asked for dentures and it didn’t drop the price very much at all. But I had no choice I chose to get denture for 24 thousand dollars. Does that even sound right. No it’s doesn’t so I show up for surgery and they said I was getting implants . So ok since I was paying that much I didn’t say anything . Also I didn’t have enough left over credit to afford anesthesia but the day of my surgery the doc said I really should get it and I said I had about 1500 left on my care credit . I figured they would have told me how much the anesthesia would be nothing was said and told the doc how much I had and they said they would make it work. So I get it done wake up and upon my return to the office they tell me I owe another 2500 dollars before I can have my implants put in after they heal. I was so upset from just having my teeth ripped out and they didn’t even call me anything in for pain or infection at all. I asked 3 or 4 times and they said they did call me something in for pain. But nope so I just dealt with the pain . Here I sit several month later and I’m still in my healing dentures and they tell me I’ll be in theee loose unfitting teeth for 6months
Liars
Liars, they say you won't pay anything and then they send you a bill of 7,0000. I don't recommend going where they are. I fell for their deception. I don't recommend them.
Worst experience ever they should be closed down.
The experience I had with Aspen dental what’s absolutely bizarre. I called on Friday and they gave me appointment for Saturday morning after I explained that I just had a bridge that need to be ring glued. They scheduled me for Saturday morning and said get there early so we can do the paperwork I showed up at 7:45. The office was locked. It did not come in until a little after eight I signed in gave them all my information and then a manager came out and said they don’t have anybody here that can help me today but set up an appointment for Monday. I arrive Monday and I was called in to see the doctor. They made me get a x-ray which I didn’t want because this was just a simple glue of an appliance however, when the doctor came in, he didn’t take a good look at anything the appliance or anything else he opened my mouth he put the appliance in his hand. He says oh this won’t work. You need a new. This is off by says 33 cm and you need a new plate. This is not the case at all all they’re trying to do is upsell me a new plate this plate was put in a year ago and it’s in perfect condition and I put it in with temporary dental adhesive and it worked fine. However, I wanted something more permanent. I never dealt with such low class people and all my life. It should be ashamed of themselves of being business and the way they treat patients. This is nothing but a mill. I advise no one to go there.
This is the 2nd time dealing with Aspen…
This is the 2nd time dealing with Aspen Dental getting dentures. The first set was 4 years ago and I ended up hating the way they looked. The over bite made me look like I had buck teeth. I first decided that I would go with the Signature Elites and was told they would be done in 2-3 weeks. The next day I researched and seen the upgrade was 2 years more warranty for $850.00. I dropped it to the next plan down and now and it's now been over a month and my appointments are 2 week in between. I still have at least another 2 more visits in order to get them. When I changed the plan, I asked what was the total of my last set and she told me she didn't have that information because of a security breach and the information was stolen. She also told me that she gave me a discount because I was a returning customer, and then it turned out the they were running a 25% discount on all dentures promotion. This company is nothing but a bunch of compulsive liars.
I went to have a tooth removed
I went to have a tooth removed. They said they could, gave me an appointment. When I got there they said I need two removed, I agreed. to have both out and get partial plates. I came back the next day with an app. at 9:15. They numbed my mouth and I waited two hours. My mouth was no longer numb. So more needles more numbing agent. Then they said I needed a deep cleaning. I said I was not sure because of a bad experience with that 40 years ago. I agreed to the partial. When I returned to make mold for plates They said not unless I did the deep cleaning. She said they would make plates but I could not have them until I let them clean. Why pay for plates they will not give me? I never would have agreed if they told me in the beginning that I was paying for partials that I can't have unless I allowed the deep cleaning.I made them return my money. I hope the refund shows up on my statement next month
They did not call my insurance company…
They did not call my insurance company to insure coverage. Insurance denied the bill and now I'm stuck with a 1,550. bill. Make them call your insurance coverage to confirm amount of coverage.
Called make a dental appointment for…
Called make a dental appointment for cleaning - I was they accepted my insurance - I was given an estimate of $ 15,000.00 to fix all my problems - only l wanted a cleaning - said would be $ 500.00 - No thank you My insurance pays for three pays for three cleaning a year - BIGGEST SCAM - And The Smile Center is the same rip off.
dirty and unsanitary
The up selling isn’t even what bothered me. When I called to make my appointment, they told me a tooth extraction would cost a maximum of $130, when I got there they decided to charge me over 200. But that’s not my issue. My issue is the lack of sanitation. The windows, the floors were dirty. There was drool all over the blanket. They used to cover me for x-rays. Nobody used dental bibs. I have never been in a medical facility that is so dirty.
Aspen Dental, What a joke!!
What a joke. I called with an emergency and made it clear numerous times that's what I was coming in for. Something was stuck in my gum, and it really hurt, and they told me they would look at
it and hopefully be able to help. I was in the waiting room for over an
hour. Finally, a girl came and got me; all she did was panoramic X-rays and every other X-ray possible. I was sent back to the waiting room again. After more time, A guy came and got me,
MORE X-RAYS, I kept telling them to just get this thing out of my gum! I wasn't there for a DENTAL EXAM. Finally, I saw the dentist, and that was the biggest joke of all. He looked in my mouth, started talking about other dental work I needed, and that was it! He wouldn't even remove what was in my gum! It was all about money and what mattered to them. My Advice, go to a REAL
Emergency Dentist, not A dishonest one. I had heard bad things
about them before and should have listened. Stay as far away
from Aspen Dental as you can, unless you like being ripped off.
Please listen to the bad reviews
Please listen to the bad reviews. They “diagnosed” me with periodontal disease and quoted over $2000 worth of work which unfortunately I did go through with. It didn’t cross my mind that a dentist office would try to scam me. Well, to make a long story short, I got a second opinion and I definitely don’t have periodontal disease. In addition, I gave the receptionist my insurance information THREE different times and she still didn’t handle it correctly, so now I have a $500 bill from them sitting in collections where it will stay because I don’t owe these people a dime.
Bad experience
I went to Aspen Dental of Quakertown, Pa to get a second opinion. I scheduled an appointment to get two route canals. I was trying to save the teeth. I had the route canals done. Have had three appointments rescheduled to get the final crowns put in. Keep being told that the crowns aren’t there and that is why they keep rescheduling the appointments. What is taking so long to get the crowns made? I need the crowns put in. It has been over a month since I had the route canals done.
