I wonder how inconvenient it would be for them if all these customers that have been scammed arranged for a non existent vehicle to be collected?

Avoid Scrap Compare at All Costs!
Avoid Scrap Compare at All Costs!
I recently sold my car to Scrap Compare, and it was hands down the worst experience I’ve ever had with a company. They initially offered me £250 for my car, which I agreed to. Everything seemed fine until two weeks later when they suddenly called me to say, “Actually, you’re only getting £50.”
This is nothing short of a scam! They took my car, agreed on a price, and then pulled a bait-and-switch long after the deal was supposedly done. I had no choice but to accept their ridiculous offer because they already had my vehicle. No professionalism, no integrity—just a complete rip-off.
If you’re thinking about using Scrap Compare, DON’T. Find a company that actually honors their agreements instead of one that tricks people out of their money.
Scam company
Scam company. They will promise 1 price on the phone and then take the car and offer a different price. The only solution is now to waste their time and make fake bookings. Get ready for some fun!

Was quoted £650 for a Suzuki alto with 56k on the clock - needed a jump start but runs perfectly fine
Was collected , jump started and driven onto the recovery vehicle at 8am and told payment would be made at 5pm on that day which did not happen.
After 2 follow up calls, the next day, where I was being brushed off and told payment would be made soon (do not accept this as they will stop picking up your calls from this number and you will need to ring on a new number)
I was told that I would be paid less as there was an immobiliser issue and the key I provided would not start the car. I then informed the woman that the car was driven onto the recovery vehicle WITH THE PROVIDED KEY and that I had ring doorbell footage of the car being started and driven.
Was then put on hold until they had their next best excuse - stating that the issue was an aftermarket catalytic converter being on the car which was not true and this is the excuse that everyone is being told.
They would not accept no for an answer and at this rate you are forced to accept whatever lowered amount they quote you as they will take your car miles away (mine was from London to Leicester) and if you would like to collect your car and decline the new quote they will send you on a runaround of fake scrapyards and addresses that lead to nowhere.
My new quote was £200. Much lower than what they had said.
Not worth the headache and distress that they will cause you, find a more reputable company to use!
Robbing
Robbing, scamming, untrustworthy and unprofessional. Gave me a price of £275 for my car, came and collected it promising payment by 5pm, no payment, contacted the following day saying my scrap car was too scrap and they were only giving me £60 after taking my car 80 miles away. When I said I will have it back, they stated that I would incur storage costs. AVOID These cheats
Company Stole my vehicle
Company basicly stole my car and threatened me with small claims court (was just a threat) I reported mr car stolen to Hertfordshire police it was listed as fraud not theft my insurance did not cover it as theft and would not pay out, car was recovered about a month later from a auction house where it was purchased by a another Victim who then gave it to police, just got my car back today after paying heavy storage and haulage fees, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY PLEASE
Please avoid
Please avoid - it’s a scam. Contacted and offered a price, advised it was confirmed (not a quote). Chap turned up to collect car, was pressured to accept, paperwork had no contact details (yes I’m an idiot), VC5 had an address not where I was quoted for delivery to. Following that police called me as concerned as had a number of reports of this vehicle picking up vehicles but not paying. Very shady and not what is said on the website (e.g. that you get paid on the day, now told 24 hours and might be a different price but they already have my car 60 miles away!). Avoid.
Got scammed yesterday anyone that can…
Got scammed yesterday anyone that can help me find the scrapyard they take it to please let me know
CRIMINALS! DO NOT USE!
CRIMINALS! Do not use! I got a quote of £300, they took the car and said would be paid by 5pm which it wasn’t. Next day they said the catalytic converter is after market so will only be £100. Little do they know my grandad had the car basically since new and he never changed it and neither did I. My advise, STAY AWAY!
AVOID- Scam company. Breakers yard does not exist under name given
Also got caught by this company as I didn’t look for reviews first as was in a rush. Again they used the after market catalytic converter excuse to drop the price from £350 to £150. The breakers years ‘best breakers’ don’t exist on google and only have a Hotmail.com email and no contact number. Would have got more through webuyanycar…
Terrible company - outright theft! Similar experience to other people
Similar experience to other people. Collected the car on 4/2/25, assuring me would pay £250 by 5pm. No money arrived, I called them the next day and was told there was a problem with the admin team don’t worry they will pay today. Few days later, after calling daily, they said the original catalytic converter was not there so they would only pay £50. What a scam. Have emailed a complaint but of course not reply. Have not even see the £50 yet. Total scammers. Do not use. I wish I had seen this thread before I used them.
MASSIVE SCAM
MASSIVE SCAM. DO NOT USE. FAKE ADDRESS GIVEN. THEY JUST STEAL YOUR VEHICLE AND DON'T PAY.
DONT USE THEM
I USED A COMPANY WITH THE SAME NUMBER BUT DIFFERENT NAME AND THE INFORMATION I GOT FROM REVIEWS LIKE PRICE AND ADRESS ARE EXACTLY THE SAME
They steal your car …
Why oh why did I not read these yesterday!!!!
I have fallen for the scammers also!!!
So I had a car needing to be scrapped and thought I’d use a car scrap comparison site. One offered me £350, I thought happy days and clicked on to be put through to a company. Friendly lady answered and said hello when picking up the phone, odd I thought so asked what company they were. She said scrap car comparison. Anyway cutting to the chase she booked in my car for collection the following day between 10-12pm. Saying truck driver will call when he’s on his way and he will deal with all the paperwork on the day. At 11.35am the truck arrived not having called first, therefore you have no paper trail at all. I never received any email from the company even though you give your email address.
Man was very nice didn’t really explain too much just said I’d receive my full payment by 5pm and stamped my log book…. All done, although I had alarm bells, being female and on my own I didn’t feel comfortable in what I’d just done.
Back indoors I googled the best breakers scrap yard stamp on my log book to find it doesn’t exist. Panic kicked in googled the original telephone number I had called and the company turned out to be scrap compare!!
Lo and behold no money arrived in my account that day!!
Forward to today I called scrap compare to ask for my money and apparently they also couldn’t give me the full £350 as when a mechanic looked over the car it needed a new gear box. This is completely untrue, and could now only offer me £50!!!
Having read these comments before calling them for my money I was ready for this. I asked for the car back which they say they cannot do as they sell it to the breakers yard. They give you an email address to get in touch with them. I told them the breakers yard is fake which they deny as they deal with them all the time. They say because the car is not in full working condition they cannot pay out…. Funny as your selling it as scrap, never heard so much rubbish. Chased them all day for my money, as effectively they’ve just stolen my car!!! Finally got a payment of £50 at 4.30pm to find out that your car gets taken to a little yard in Hertford, it’s all a front so not use them. They are nothing but thieves!!!!!
I also have every conversation I had with them on video
