Amazing!
Omg my new WAV arrived a few days ago and I’m in love!
It’s a Peugeot Boxer with an electric lift, space for two wheelchairs, two seats in the back, and three seats in the front (with added handles to help me get in and out). There are safe spaces for both my assistance dog and pet dog, with safety stalks to clip them in securely, plus manual and electric steps to make things easier for me. It even has rear air con and heating that reaches the foot area, so Fern (my assistance dog) stays super comfy. There are also two rear windows so people in the back don’t feel shut in.
The grants team and GM Coachworks were amazing — they sorted everything so I only had to pay £250, which I could manage. They really listened to my situation and did everything they could to help.
It’s honestly perfect. The fact I can fit two wheelchairs means my family and I can finally go out together without anyone being excluded. I’m so happy Fern has her own safe, comfy spot too — she’s loving it, and I feel secure knowing she’s properly catered for.
It drives beautifully, and it’s not too hard to manoeuvre thanks to the rear camera and parking sensors (though the high-up camera will take a bit of getting used to!).
Thanks to GM Coachworks, I only had to wait six months, which is almost unheard of from what i know (my previous smaller WAV took alot longer.) The base van was finished end of April, and they only took a few weeks to complete the conversion after it was delivered by the manufacturer because they knew I was desperate to catch at least the tail end of summer. I’m so grateful as i didn’t want to miss the whole summer due to my failing health.
Very happy bunny right now and ready to enjoy whats left of summer 😍
Friendly service
Great communication from Caitlin on the progress of our new mobility vehicle
Adrian who delivered our vehicle was friendly, explained and demonstrated everything we needed to know
Would definitely recommend and use again when the lease is up on our vehicle
Great company
Martin was great at dealing with my query’s from start to finish and the whole work from beginning was just amazing! He even sourced me a WAV quickly cutting down 8 months in the process, I would like to thank the adaptation team for a job well done too, highly recommend the company and wish them well in the future.

Will not respond to any phone calls left about ten messages for ASH but he seems to be on a permanent holiday , issue regarding vehicle supplied.
GM coachworks motobility demo…
We had Mark out to do a motobility demo on a van, we’d had poor experience from other local companies trying to force us to push up our grant or add features we didn’t need! Mark was professional, unbiased and allowed us to experience the vehicle with our disabled daughter and answered all our questions. Needless to say vehicle was great & we went with GM coach works.
Mixed Opinion Long Read
It is very difficult to do this review as we are now dealing with GM Coachwork again after a Volvo ran into the back of our car (no fault of GM Coachwork). The demonstrations we were given before we chose our vehicle were excellent. Both of the nice gentlemen drove a long way to show us both vehicles before we settled on the Ford Tourneo Diesel. The car was supplied a good deal earlier than they had said it might be down to shortages currently in the UK due to the knock-on effect of Covid. Overall we were happy with the vehicle, service and the modifications at the time we received the car.
Then disaster struck and we were involved in an accident where a Volvo drove into the back of us causing extensive damage to the tailgate and in the process the ramp too.
We have now been waiting since the 14th of December only having owned the vehicle for 51 days before that date (it is now February 17th 2024). The vehicle is currently with GM Coachwork again even though the nice lady at FMG said it is "Down South" and then added "London" even though it is currently with GM Coachwork in Newton Abbot (There is an app for everything, including your Ford vehicle). She informed us it is going to take them at least a further 3 weeks to repair the ramp. In the meantime, we have been stuck with a Peugeot petrol vehicle supplied by the insurance company (Direct Line) who I would not recommend to my worst enemy but got lumbered with thanks to Motability, the PUG is god awful, to say the least.
I realise that many of the problems we have encountered may not be directly linked with GM Coachwork but it was supplied by them nonetheless and the current work going to take 3 weeks makes it hard to write them a glowing review.
Sorry for the long read but I think it needed the context to show why I chose only 2 stars out of a possible 5.
Poor communication, still awaiting delivery
I ordered a Citroen Spacetourer Turin on the motability scheme, in October 2022. It is now July 2023 and we are still awaiting delivery. I have had to chase all the way through, communication from GM mobility is very poor. All I'm told is the car is built, it's still at the factory and they don't know when it's coming. Really fed up.
After one year of ownership of VW…
After one year of ownership of VW Transporter the vehicle has been off the road for over a month due to the incompetence of the undocumented workmanship in converting my van. VW are unable to fix it an even with the help of GM engineers. Definitely feel like GM feel its someone else's problem. Will be speaking to motability yet again to discuss my options
This company was marvellous!
This company was marvellous, they had a huge task with delays in many vehicles and keeping people informed. Could not have wished to have been better served than GM!
Good workmanship
Good workmanship. Long delays due to current situation, however I would have appreciated a lot more communication with updates.
problem W A V
My W A V has had problems since just after I received it. Communication seems to be a problem for the company. Van has been taken back to Devon but after 2 and a half weeks I have heard nothing about progress or otherwise.

Even though there was world wide problems, during covid and shortages of parts and materials, they were professional, helpful at all times thank you.
The service provided
From day one the service was excellent and they even came to me for a secondary visit and I would highly recommend them and when I next need to get a vehicle I will definitely get it from them (note that the date that I give below is approximate but I am confident that it is within a month)
Load of rubbish 2nd vehicle we have had…
Load of rubbish 2nd vehicle we have had that's had to go back the first one the coolant pipe split gm and Ford arguing if it was an oringal part over 7 months it took the 2nd van we had a number of problems with the seat belts keep twisting and getting stuck I would stay well away would up load picture if I could
Loler inspection on Wheelchair lift
Called them in to conduct an inspection for Loler certificate was told it would cost £190. Technician came and said there was a fault with the lift but couldn’t sort it out and was trying to get hold of manufacturers in Europe for some advice but never got through. Came back again another day and said he still couldn’t sort it out and we either need to pay a ridiculous amount to have it fixed or replace the whole accessible lift which was going to cost more than the vehicle was worth. Then we were sent an invoice for travel, labour x 2 which came to almost a grand. Took it for a second opinion and got loler certified no problem for £90. Seems like their technician is pretty useless or they just pulling a fast one and trying to get more out of us.

Very good company to deal with 👍
Very good company to deal with 👍. Very helpful and informative throughout the whole process, from the sales and administration team, through to the person who delivered the vehicle, very helpful and professional company 5 ⭐️
All went well
All went well. Great communication and arrangements adhered to. Not only did GM resolve the issue but they sorted out some bits and pieces needing attention. There was an issue that was unrelated directly to the original issue but [Ian I think] the engineer drove miles to get here to sort it - well done. Layla on the phone is brill too.
A Very Happy Drive from Wheelchair Driver
I have taken delivery of my vehicle which has been converted and fully adapted to be driven by a confined to wheelchair driver. The standard of workmanship and achieved finish is first class which also includes the excellent customer service from start to finish, an excellent company with a very professional and caring workforce.
