I arranged to have my parcel to be delivered to a collection point (Spar), only I got a notification with saying the courier couldn’t find my address and would reattempt tomorrow. The photo that was linked showed he was right by the collection point and somehow he hadn’t figured the parcel was to be handed over the counter to be scanned and ready for me to later collect. The level of incompetence is absolutely baffling!! What kind of people are this company hiring??

I bought two of their report packages (Eurasia and Pangea) and both the modern origins reports gave me very different (and inaccurate) sets of results. I won’t be going any further with this company. Money down the drain…

Dear Anthony, we have no record of receiving an email from you complaining about your results. I noticed you have written 1 star reviews for quite a few genetic ancestry sites other than ours, including Ancestry, MyHertage and DNAgenics. It seems you do not like the results you are getting from any of these companies. I requested further information via TrustPilot, as we have no record of you as a customer, so we could not identify if you have an account or to assess your results, but you have not responded. The two tests you referred to, analyse ancestry from different time frames using different methods, so although your results should show continuity from these two tests, they would not be identical. I also see from your reviews of other genetic ancestry companies, on one you’ve mentioned you get 50% English and 50% Welsh and on another you say you are Greek and Norwegian and that this other companies test didn’t identify that, those are two very credible ancestry sites, so this seems unlikely. If you send an email, so we can locate your account, if it exists, I would be happy to discuss your results if you have any at yourDNAportal. We have never received a 1 star review from any of our members before.
I found some of their free reports and G25 based reports to be pretty good and accurate and reflects my known ancestry pretty well. However, I made the mistake of purchasing a starter pack that includes various exclusive ancestry reports and the results were laughably inaccurate - particularly the Shared Modern Origins. The highest confidence they gave me was about 50% Scottish and 50% Welsh. Pretty disappointed. I will not be making another purchase with this service again.
I’m really enjoying Genomelink! I recently completed the European Breakdown report, and it’s by far the most fascinating insight into my ancestry I’ve seen. I was dissatisfied with Ancestry and MyHeritage, especially after their recent updates. When I’m paying good money for a product like this, I want to be able to dive deep and study my results chromosome by chromosome—and Genomelink does a pretty good job of delivering on that!
YHA Whitby refused to refund me after they asked me to cancel due to an error with my booking saying that they didn’t have any spaces left. It was an error that THEY clearly made. I understand they have a ‘no refund policy’ (despicable if you ask me!), but by rights I should be entitled to one under the circumstances. On the plus side, this booking with YHA was only a last resort after my last visit with what looked to me more like an asylum and am relieved to have since secured a much better accommodation.

Dear Anthony, thank you for reviewing your recent stay at YHA Whitby. We are very sorry to hear this stay did not meet your expectations and would like the opportunity to investigate this further for you. Please email us with more information at customerresolutions@yha.org.uk.
An absolute con! I couldn’t believe how inaccurate my results were! I know for a fact that I have much more Scandinavian and Greek as my mother was half Greek and half Norwegian and Greek didn’t show up at all. Very disappointed. The Myheritage results were more accurate than this trash! I wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

Hi there, Anthony! Thanks for your recent review. We are so sorry for any upset or confusion caused. We would be happy to provide some insight and clarify concerning your results.
We understand that you are concerned about the accuracy of your test, especially when it did not show exactly as you expected it would.
It's important to bear in mind that even with a perfect knowledge of the history of your ancestors, DNA can still show some unexpected results. We each inherit 50% of our DNA from both our mother and father but exactly what 50% we inherit is random. This is known as genetic recombination and can cause unexpected DNA results for many members who do not inherit a region that they know their parent(s) has. Please see the article we've linked below which delves into inheritance and how it works.
It might help to understand the science behind our test. Our test is based off DNA alone. Ancestry uses established baseline ethnicities taken from living people with verified roots in a particular area. This is otherwise known as our reference panel. We calculate your ethnicity estimate by comparing your DNA to this reference panel made up of DNA samples from over 68,000 people, representing 84 different global regions and over 1,800 communities.
AncestryDNA has, on average, an accuracy rate of over 99 percent for each marker tested. For more information on how we extract DNA and generate our members results we can recommend reviewing our White Papers, which you can find below.
It's important to bear in mind that your DNA is only one element of a much larger picture, and your family history and relatives will play an important role in your genetic make-up, even if they are not specifically reflected in your ethnicity results. Check out the linked below for more information on the factors that can caused unexpected results. We hope this article helps better explain your results.
As our reference panel grows, our test becomes more and more precise. Estimating a persons ethnicity based on their DNA is still a relatively new science and so we're always collecting more data and our methods are constantly improving. We are the market leader in the field of consumer genomics and we are committed to continuously improving our members results to give them as detailed an understanding of their origins as we can.
We hope this helps somewhat. If you have more questions please do let us know. We hope you have a nice weekend!
I’ve decided to delete my account after the recent update. I was taken aback just how completely inaccurate my updated results were, not to mention that the first set of results were confusing enough! Don’t waste your time and money!

Dear Anthony,
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns.
DNA testing can sometimes reveal surprising information, and genetic heritage can differ from documented genealogy due to the complexities of inheritance and the way DNA is passed down through generations. However, we understand your concerns and want to address them thoroughly.
Building your family tree on MyHeritage and integrating your DNA research with genealogy can open up a world of possibilities. This approach helps confirm relationships, uncover previously unknown relatives, trace ancestral origins, and even reunite long-lost family members.
I'd like to ensure you get the most out of your research and would be happy to investigate your DNA results to provide you with a more detailed analysis.
Please email me directly at rafael.vipsupport@myheritage.com if you are interested. Kindly include a link to this review in your email to help me identify your feedback promptly.
