Review of The Yellow Van Company

Stay away from yellow van Company

This company is run by people who are less than transparent in their dealings with the public.
I booked a van on 17 August 2025 to help me move, they charged me £192 for the van and one driver to help plus taking into account that my positions have to be moved from the second floor of a block of flats with no lift, I do not have any furniture, everything was in suitcases, a couple of boxes and several strong large moving bags, total individual items were 18. The van was booked for 23 August at 1:30pm. At 1:40 no sight of any van so I checked the confirmation email to see if there was any contact number, there was not, but what I did notice was a disclaimer, in tiny print of course, which said that the booking time was not a booking time but a “preferred time” and that the actual time could be within one hour, so as I’d booked for 1:30pm this meant that the van could arrive any time up to 2:30pm, fair enough, but a bit slippery that this company didn’t mention any of this until you’ve paid and then it was only in fine print in the confirmation, anyway about 5 minutes later at 1:47pm I got a call from the van driver who told me he was in Chelmsford and it would take him at least two hours to get to me in Hanwell! I lost it, I was not rude but i told him I wanted to speak to someone in authority and told him to tell his superiors that I would be putting the charge into dispute with my credit card company and whilst I’d be happy to pay half the £192 fee I would not accept paying it all, it should be said that during the this time from 1:30 onwards I was moving all the bags and boxes downstairs myself which would have meant by the time the van driver arrived 3:45pm or whatever he’d have nothing to carry down stairs, which is one of the things I’d paid for. A few minutes later a “manager” called me, I said your driver tells me he will be another two hours at least, what are you going to do about that? this man says to me “what do you mean?”, I said hang on I’m speaking English and I think it’s clear what I mean, the man started, as I expected, to harp on about the one hour window, I cut him short and said yes I read about your disclaimer and the one hour window but this will be two hours at least and very possibly considerably more given that this weekend is a bank holiday and moreover the Notting Hill Carnival is on today and tomorrow all day. He insisted that it wasn’t his or his company’s fault, I told him if it’s not your fault and it’s not my fault that’s okay but you need to understand that I will be calling my credit card company and discussing a reduction in the payment to your company. He said well we can cancel it if you want, he said this because he thought that it would intimidate me into accepting the way things had turned out, but I wasn’t going to do that, I said okay. So he says I’ll call you back in five minutes. I need to speak to my manager. I thought this guy was a manager but maybe he’s not a big enough manager to do anything, he eventually calls me back and says yes we will give you your full refund
and I say you mean the £192 because the actual fee for the van was made up of £180 for the van and driver and £12 for fuel, which of course was never used and o
I wasn’t going to let them get away with scamming me out of the £12 fuel fee, I kept on reiterating to him, are you going to pay me my £192 back, he kept on saying give me a minute, give me a minute, eventually he relented and used the words you will get your £192 back, I was recording the call anyway and he knew it. I am still waiting to see the refund paid back to my credit card but I will only wait 5 days and if I don’t see it I will then issue a dispute with my card company and also consider filing a small claim against this company for further damages. These people are total scammers and should be avoided at all cost by everyone in my opinion, I know that the next thing they will try to do is to get this review removed by demanding that I verify who I am, I have the recording of the call, and of course I will forward that to Trustpilot should I need to, i have the confirmation Email for the booking even though it was booked to another of my email addresses it is still me!
To Yellow Van Company, I am many things but one thing I will never be is afraid, not of you people, not of anyone, make sure my money comes back to me pronto or I will use the full force of the law against you. of course was never used and

Disrespectful

I applied for a volunteer role with these people, I went to a lengthy interview with first one then two interviewers, I thought it went well but of course it’s entirely possible that someone else they interviewed was more suited to the role and or had more experience than I, I had no previous experience but was told that that was fine, the thing that shocks me is that after the interview I was told I would be contacted with an answer by a very specific date, that date passed with no communication from these people, to this day, several months later, they have not had the courtesy to even thank me for attending the interview, remember this was a volunteer role. If this is the way these people treat potential volunteers one has to wonder about the level of empathy and care they show to people who come to them for help, frankly I’m glad I found out their true colours early on and never got more involved with them, shame on them for their utter disrespect of those they primarily rely on to deliver the services they offer and I urge any potential volunteers to tread very carefully and perhaps more importantly to those those who are seeking help of the type this company purports to offer I strongly suggest looking for an alternative charity, there are many reputable ones with names that are well known, this in my opinion is not one of them.

Review of Boots

Collection fee, give me a break!

It’s hardly surprising but still a crying shame that this 175 year old formally great British company has such a poor overall review rating, there’s clearly a lot wrong in the company. Not least of all the fact that Boots is the only major high street retailer that has the temerity to think charging a £1.50 fee for customers to buy online and then collect their items in store is just fine and hunky-dory, well Boots management you’re completely nuts and the fact that your company has been around for almost two centuries will not save you if you don’t get with the program, Superdrug is a major competitor for you and they are not stupid enough to charge a collection fee, I will never buy from Boots again unless Superdrug doesn’t have the item I want, why in gods name would I, even if Boots is sometimes cheaper than Superdrug you shoot yourselves in the foot by adding this £1.50 collection fee, it simply almost never happens that once that fee is added that Boots is cheaper than Superdrug.

Total cowboys

It’s clear that Superdrug are totally unconcerned about customer service, I ordered something to be collected and then decided I no longer wanted it, on April 27 Superdrug claim they issued a refund to my credit card, by 9 May no refund had been received so I contacted Superdrug using their only method of customer service contact, WhatsApp chat, they sent me one reply asking for a screenshot of my card transactions to show that the refund had not been received, I did this immediately, and then nothing, 24 hours later not a peep out of them.
I’ve had to go ahead and put this matter into dispute with my credit card company since I have zero confidence now in Superdrug dealing with this in any timely fashion. I will also stop buying from Superdrug, pricing is not the only thing to consider when making purchases, after sales care is also of importance and that is something that Superdrug is completely hopeless at, I’d rather stick with Boots than save a few pennies hear and there and deal with this rubbish!

Stay away!

I like many others that have left reviews about this company am furious, this company knows exactly what they’re doing in creating an assumption that the cost of creating a cv on their website is £2.95, which by the way wouldn’t be seen by any fair minded person to be in any way an unreasonable assumption, they then take another £16.95 a couple of weeks later. No matter the legality of what they do, and I’m absolutely certain they’ve made sure that somewhere in the fine print, at the bottom of one of the screens users are taken through to make that initial £2.95 payment, is the information about the service being a subscription. They are scammers, zero doubt about that, and to be clear a scam doesn’t have to be open theft, it can also be a confidence trick, making a person believe that something is one thing, when in fact it’s actually something else, that is exactly what this company is engaged in, their primary business is not a cv service, that’s just a waste product of their true business which is confidence trickery. I doubt there’s much I can do to get my money back but what I will do is make sure any U.K. government department remotely responsible for the online protection of U.K. citizens is made aware of this company. The new digital markets bill will be signed into law in the new year and come into effect later in 2024, even if I have to wait till then to make a complaint to the CMA I will, let me tell the owners of this scam company, take what money you can now because your time is coming, you know what you’re doing is morally indefensible!

Edit 11 November 2023

You refunded my money and I’m glad about that but I strongly suspect it was as a result of my review. I do in any case stand firmly by everything I’ve said, if you’re offering a subscription service then make that and it’s cost front and centre, if you were a decent honourable business you would take whatever steps were necessary to fix things on your website and in your email communications so that everything was made very clear throughout the customer journey, the subscription price along with when it starts listed at the top of the email along with the £2.95 charge for example rather than displaying the £2.95 in big bold letters at the top of the on its own and the £16.95 somewhere nearer the bottom where users have to scroll down to see it.

Overall good service.

Overall I think there’s been an improvement in the availability of the 3mg vape liquids I use or it might just be that I now spread my purchases throughout the month and order way before I’ve run out of liquids, in any case things have not got any worse so that in itself is good. The deliveries are always super fast and without issues and the points system they have which gives you real money off purchases is very useful and appreciated.

Things are still far from being ok!

My rating is remaining the same since my last review but one way or another it won’t stay that way the next review I write, it’s either going to go up or down and frankly if Vape Superstore doesn’t get it’s own purchasing in order it’s going to go down.
In summary I use 3mg vape liquid and without fail Vape Superstore never has an adequate supply of 3mg liquid of the brand and flavour I use, sometimes there’s not even enough of it available for me to complete an order of £20 so that I don’t have to suffer shipping costs. Anyway Vape Superstore, get a grip and sort out your purchasing team!

Good Morning,

I hope you are well, and I am very sorry that you have trouble ordering your preferred liquids.

We always aim to have adequate stock in to provide anyones requirements. However, we are sometimes unable to do this due to supplier shortages.

I have passed on your feedback to our purchasing manager, and they will investigate this further.

Our team is available from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday on phone, email or online chat, to discuss any possible alternatives if the items you would like are out of stock.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience this has caused.

Kind Regards,

Not fantastic but hope springs eternal

I’m going to lay out the facts, and then at the end I’ll give my conclusions.
I placed my initial order on the 17th December to be delivered to a local collection hub which I selected from the options available on the Vape Superstore website, the order was shipped the same day, two days later, on the 19th I got an automated email from the post office saying that the order had been returned because the recipient had refused the order, now remember that this is supposed to be a secure collection point that you would assume would be expecting packages from Vape Superstore and those packages to be picked up at a later time by the addressee, clearly not. I tried to call the Vape Superstore customer service number, but I guess they don’t work Sundays which is fair enough. On the Monday, I got an email from Vape Superstore telling me that my package had been “refused by the sender”, I replied to the email telling them that the package could not have been refused by the sender, since they were the senders and that I wanted some sort of explanation as to how this could happen. After several hours of not hearing back it was clear to me that it might not be a good idea to wait for a response and that I should just go ahead and place an alternative order to be delivered direct to my home even before I received a refund for the undelivered order, this I did, and I received the order within 24 hours.
This is not an Amazon type experience, however, the world should not be filled with only huge companies like Amazon, smaller guys, trying to do their best should have a place too, and that is what I believe Vape Superstore are trying to do, their best. They need to get this situation with regards to delivery hubs properly sorted and they need to be far more timely about responding to emails and moreover responding honestly to questions, it’s not good enough to just ignore difficult questions. Anyway I’ve given them 3 stars and I’m sure everyone who reads this can understand why but I hope the amount of detail I’ve given here will prompt people to give these guys a chance, apart from anything else they have damn good prices. But hey Vape Superstore people, be warned, if you don’t get your act together nothing I or anyone else writes is going to help you, people will just go elsewhere.
