I find the best blood test company currently

I have been doing online blood tests now for over 10 years using different companies. Medichecks being one of them.

I find the website easy to navigate, ordering is simple. I usually stock up on a test or two when they have a 20% off sale. You can keep them for 3 months before they expire.

What I like about medichecks is you can go for the blood draw option and arrange your own home blood draw. So much cheaper than having the company insist on providing the service and charging a lot for doing so as some nowadays do.

Then you have the option of doctors comments or not if you don't want them. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't depending what I am tracking and my needs.

I find the doctors comments usually very helpful. Not overflowing with information but some pointers to help me make sense of my results. I see they now have an option to discuss direct with a doctor but doubt I would need this. I have facebook (joke).

My most recent test kit took a week to work its way through royal mail which is unusual. I reported it and they were about to resend when it was delivered.

Tests usually arrive back at the lab next day and reporting doesn't take that long.

Of all the test labs I have tried, and I think I have tried most now I keep coming back to medichecks.

Easy to order

Easy to order. Admittedly lot of questions before the prescription was issued but can see the reasons for them. Arrived very quickly and well packed. Price normal for this product.

Review of Thriva

over hyped blood extraction machine

I used the thriva machine to take blood from my shoulder for the first time recently. Attaching it hurt, ignore the "this does not hurt mantra", it is not true.

After a long time I didn't have sufficient blood in the tube, I followed instructions to restart blood flow and nothing happened. I gave up and removed it and used some finger lancets I had here from a previous companies blood test. This worked fine and I sent my sample off, no problems there.

My shoulder was left with a cut, around 1/8th inch and a circular red mark around the cut (photos available). It took a week or so to heal and I am left with a scar on my shoulder.

I would never attempt to use this over hyped method of extraction again.

The actual blood results were received quickly, and are interesting. I did find though that I was given too much information, it felt overwhelming. It was good, don't get me wrong, just more than I needed.

I plan to cancel my subscription and return to the company I normally use where I can arrange for my own blood sample from a vein which is not possible with thriva, you have to pay for them to arrange for the sample to be taken. It will also be a lot cheaper.

My feeling about the shoulder machine is it is a gimic, and does not live up to the hype. I followed all instructions carefully and it failed.

And I am left with a scar on my shoulder.

Bedding plants too long in post

I ordered three lots of bedding plants for this summer 2025. Two packs have been delivered, I still have to receive the final pack.... Each pack was a good 7 days in the post before delivery. The first pack, impatiens were stunted by the week in the packaging but most, about 75% did survive. The second pack, Lobelia Ultra Cascade Improved Mixed 36 Plugs arrived in an awful state, most were turned to slimy mush. Despite my best efforts the majority are now dead. A total waste of money. I put in a claim for a refund on the day of receipt and have heard absolutely nothing back. After probably 20 plus years of buying my bedding from T&M I will never do so again. It used to be a superb service with lovely plants. No more.

12th June. Despite putting in a claim twice for a refund for the plants that arrived dead I have heard nothing back. I am disgusted. It doesn't help that the remaining plants I was waiting for, the begonia plants were grown so lushly they were quite impossible to prick out and pot on, they fell apart no matter how hard I tried to move them. Quality is gone.

Edited 2.7.25. I have had an email from Thompson and Morgan, irronically with my customer number at the top so it seems they were able to trace my previous requests for refunds after all having said there was no sign of them.

Anyway, the email was apologising again for the poor plants and giving a full refund. Once contact is made it appears all is well. A pity I had to come to trust pilot in order to get their attention though.

I am still not sure I would use their service again though unless they revert to their previous superb packing and postal service of olden days. 7 days in the post is not going to work.

Stars increased to 2 stars for the refund.

We're very sorry to hear about your recent experience and the condition in which your plants arrived. We completely understand your frustration—especially after so many years of loyal custom with T&M.

It’s disappointing to learn that your Impatiens were delayed in transit and that the Lobelia plugs arrived in such poor condition, despite your efforts to save them. We’re also sorry that the Begonias proved too delicate to handle. This is certainly not the quality or service you should expect from us.

We’ve looked into this matter and, unfortunately, we’ve not been able to locate any emails or claims from you on our system. To ensure this is put right without further delay, we’ve now reached out to you directly via email with further information and a resolution.

We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and upset caused, and we appreciate you bringing this to our attention. Kindest regards, Meg. Thompson & Morgan.
