Named-day delivery 4 days late!
I paid for named-day delivery but other than the text from Homebase on the day I placed my order telling me I would hear from the deliver company soon, I heard nothing else. I waited in on the delivery day but by 3pm had still heard nothing, so I rang customer services. After some investigation I was initially told just to continue to wait as, although there was no tracking to be found, I was scheduled to have my delivery that day. At the end of the call the customer services operator told me there had been a change and that my items would now be delivered the following Monday. When I said that a) I had paid for named-day delivery and b) what if I wasn't able to be at home on Monday (I work full time), I was simply told that my delivery charge would be refunded and that I had the option to change my delivery date. This was missing the point entirely. I had a day off for these items to be delivered and simply refunding the delivery charge wasn't going to compensate for that. Later in the day I received 2 text messages: 1 saying that my items would be delivered on 24th October and the other saying that my items would be delivered between 13:08 and 15:08 that day - 15:08 being approximately the time that I was on the phone to customer services. While the delivery team who brought the furniture on the 24th were excellent, the poor communication and service I received prior to this was extremely disappointing. Not that it should make a difference, but this order comprised items of furniture at a cost of over £500.
