They don't like taking work vouchers and will say you need new glasses even if a slight change in eyesight
I got a voucher at work and that was all fine and efficient. Specsavers Twickenham however seemed unprepared for vouchers and almost annoyed that THEY had to send the voucher off and not me. It had to be explained at the front desk in the shop in front of quite a few people to each different member of staff (3no.) that they would have to send it off. The optician had to do the explaining. The phone signal was poor in the shop (not just me - one of the staff said it was bad too) also and so I wasn't able to send the email voucher for about 5 mins - standing there like someone who is trying to con them out of payment (how I felt with the door locked). Also, the prescription had a tick in the box "New Prescription Required" however, the optician said to me that it was only a very slight change and therefore if I felt comfortable in my current glasses, I would not need a new pair. They said that this was because my prescription lenses was by another optician and they could not verify them (Specsavers had taken my glasses and tested them and returned them). As I drive, I am now worried that if I were to have an accident and my eyesight was called into question, that the prescription given on paper would mean I would not have been taking due care and would not be fit to drive potentially invalidating my insurance. This is essentially a way IMO that Specsavers are strongly 'nudging' me to get prescription glasses from them, which I don't actually need or want. Also, buying something that is not needed is a waste of the worlds resources. If one was to consider the number of customers in my position who do no need new glasses but buy them anyway from fear then that is an environmental issue also. I would positively add that the woman who helped me try on some frames both knowledgeable and helpful when taking the time to do so with me.
