Review of Curry Motors Kingston – Toyota RAV4 (LB22EWH)
I have been experiencing recurring issues with my Toyota RAV4 (LB22EWH), including warnings such as “Headlight System Malfunction” and “Braking Power Low, Stop in a safe place, see owner’s manual.”
I initially booked my vehicle in with Curry Motors Kingston, where they kept the car for almost five days. At the end, I was told the problem was caused by “leaving a headlight or another light on overnight.” This was the same explanation I had previously been given for issues with another vehicle, and it felt like an easy way of shifting the blame onto the customer rather than addressing the actual fault.
After nearly a week in their care, I collected the car — only for the exact same problem to return just three weeks later. I booked another appointment for 11/09/25 and carefully explained that the issue had not been resolved the first time. This time, Mr. Aston was assigned to me.
As I live in Farnham (GU9), arranging drop-off and collection is already very inconvenient around my work schedule. Despite this, I received no updates until I called the following day. Mr. Aston informed me the vehicle had been “fixed” — but when I asked what had been repaired, he said they had resolved a tyre pressure warning. I was extremely frustrated, as I had made it very clear that my concern was with the braking and headlight system faults, not a tyre pressure alert.
When I again explained the real issue, I was reassured it would now be addressed properly. I also requested several times to speak with the Service Manager, but was repeatedly told he was “busy.” To this day, the Service Manager has not had the courtesy to return my call.
Considering I purchased this vehicle from Toyota for around £44,000, I expected far better after-sales service. Toyota proudly advertise a 10-year / 100,000-mile warranty, but my experience shows that the level of support provided tells a very different story.
My main reason for writing this review is to highlight to other customers that when you buy a vehicle, it’s not only the car you are purchasing — it’s also the standard of service you will receive afterwards. Sadly, in my experience, Curry Motors Kingston has fallen far short of the level of care and professionalism Toyota customers should be able to rely on.

Michal was out sales person - incredibly patient and thorough as we went through a range of different options (new and used) and different finance options when looking at cars across a few different weekends. I liked how we never felt pressured to make a decision, which was nice as I hate pushy sales people. It felt like he was more interested in ensuring that we made the right decision for us. He also followed up several times from when we made initial deposit, to purchasing the car to make sure that we were happy. We had some queries in relation to charging cables and also the tyre, both of which have been resolved quickly and at no additional cost.
From an after sales perspective, they have continued to look after that.
We have had a toyota for 20+ years and very pleased with our most recent purchase.
Highly recommend.

Went to Service and Maintenance in Isleworth last week to sort out a problem with my 10 year old Toyota. Have been going there for about 8 years and they’ve always been very helpful, courteous and also a very cheerful bunch. They’ve also taken the kinder view of my car predicaments whereas my experience of others has been less understanding. PS They like dogs!

I have been taking my car to Currie Motors Isleworth for servicing since 2008 and have always been extremely pleased with the results. Even after moving 46 miles away, I refuse to go anywhere local. Not only they do they do a thorough job but they go the extra mile for their customers. While your car is being serviced they update you from time to time on the status which is very good customer service. Their staff are extremely friendly and make you feel at home. During my most recent visit, Chris, Emily a Rhiannon took very good care of me and made me feel so welcome. Waiting for my car to be serviced was not a hassle at all but a real pleasure. I must mention Gavin, a thorough gentleman. He was a real life saver when I had a bad experience in the past with my car due to my own fault. That is impeccable customer service from Currie Motors Isleworth.

I handed my vehicle to Currie Motors on 23/7/2025
The vehicle still under warranty
The fault was that under a cold start the engine will struggle to run smoothly and starts giving nocking noise for a minute or two.
The technicians confirmed the fault but couldn't established and fault code stored into the vehicle ECU
So the technicians suggested to open the injectors port assuming they might find out what caused the noise to happen.
I agreed under the warranty
The technicians opened the injectors ports and stated that the vehicle might experience mis fuelled (diesel instead of petrol) and the injectors are dirty therefore the customer need to replace 4 new injectors
The customers need to replace EGR Valve
My vehicle only done 43000 miles and its Hybrid petrol plus I found out the diesel nozzle in petrol station doesn't fit in the gate of the petrol engine
Afterwards they change the statement from diesel mis fuelling to another assumption of might the petrol has been contaminated causing the vehicle to struggle on the cold start!
So, the technicians were bringing different assumptions every few days as the vehicle left with their holding from 23/07/2025 to 06/08/2025
After contacting the service Manger at Isleworth branch where the vehicle held I received an email where advising me to re-open the injectors again and send the for testing!
I told the service Manger why you would not test the injectors when you open them at the first diagnosed?
No answer was given by the service manager only the answer that if i want to collect my vehicle I need to pay 378.24 £
This amount for injectors seals and labour for taking the injectors out and assuming they are faulty by visual eye sight!
I had several emails with service Manger but insisted for me to pay the total amount and this wouldn't be covered by the warranty!
And if I would like the team to test the injectors then they need to re-open the injectors again and send them to the testing third party company which add an extra cost again!
On the next day early morning a lady called me from Currie Motors to if I was satisfied with the service or not
I answered No I am not satisfied at all and I was forced to pay 378.24 for visual testing and expecting and suggested to replace 4 injectors with EGR and Afterwards they move next step of assuming and theories without gathering any faulty Codes or even without spending the injectors to the testing machine!
With this assumptions and missing a guidelines of professional repair made me feel I am taking my vehicle to a private garage where he has no experience just looking to rip off customers by putting assumptions after assumptions and added extras cost to the customer and Afterwards the customer take the vehicle without been repaired!
After the phone call today morning asking about my satisfaction they promised me they will deal with the matter seriously as something went wrong during the diagnosis I answer I would welcome that.
After that I was expecting a senior from Currie Motors to contact me but sadly I have been contacted by the same desk service where he is not authorised to resolve the matter to a satisfactory situation
I raised the complaint within Currie Motors through the service Manger but refused to provide me with the information and the guidelines where to take the complaint further either with Currie Motors or with Toyota UK or any place they corporate with and only I have to use the online information which I am not sure if this right!
Currie Motors your work wasn't professional.your work was under visual judgement and you refused to take any responsibility if I change the injectors and the EGR the problem will be resolved? The answer was NO.
They said they would keep changing parts until they fix the issue and the cost all on me!
I am a disabled man with severe heart complications the lack of acting professionally left me with unstable health issues and stressful specially when you see people ripping you off and the choice to pay or not handed your vehicle back.
Pay for untested injectors and pay for unknown fault and pay assuming and theories to escape your warranty!
Does the service Manger aware if any vehicle has defects with 4 injectors that vehicle will never be able to start?
Does the service Manger aware if the injectors faulty or the electronic EGR faulty in the Hybrid vehicle will show the fault straight on the dashboard of the vehicle of an engine light orange or red ?
Does the service Manger aware this is 2020 Toyota Rav4 and record every operation and even this vehicle record my driving performance?

Due to an oversight on my part, over a two year period I'd paid for two services that were covered by a used vehicle service package. Once I realised this both Rhianna and Emily ensured I received a full and prompt refund.
