The Wordl’s Worst Airline
Part 1: We were forced to check our small hand luggage trolley cases at Terminal 3 Manchester airport because the handling agent at check in said that “a new policy was brought into effect by BA on 5th June 2025 which forbids trolley cases to be taken onto a flight as hand luggage, but BA haven’t updated their website”. This, in itself, sounded like a scam but we were given NO CHOICE. We reluctantly checked in our 2 x trolley cases, 1 of which did not have a lock because we were planning to keep it with us at all times (given BAs history of losing bags - see below). We were basically forced to check those bags. We were not given a choice and were, in fact, bullied into it. We always put airtags inside our checked bags but, due to these bags being ‘hand luggage’ they had not been airtagged.
When we boarded the flight, we checked this “new policy” with a BA crew member who told us that this was not the policy at all and that he was actually “without words” regarding what we had been told!
In the trolley cases / hand luggage, we had a Bluetooth speaker, 2 x phone charger batteries, 2 x pairs is high value shoes. We removed all of these as we don’t trust BA so we were struggling to carry these. We were flying to Miami via Heathrow so purchased an rucksack at T5 Heathrow to store the items. I complained to BA and asked for reimbursement. They literally closed the complaint without even responding to me.
Part 2: To add insult to injury, on our return flight, our luggage did not arrive at Manchester. We have Apple AirTags in both checked bags and 24 hours later have not received them. The staff at Manchester Airport (when we filed a missing luggage report) told us there were 60 bags which didn’t make it into the connecting flight!!! I honestly couldn’t make this up..The exact same thing happened to us last year. Basically, BA are the worlds worst airline. We were charged £62 by BA at Miami as one of the bags was slightly overweight. Given the stress and inconvenience, I also asked for reimbursement of this. Again, my complaint was closed without them even responding to me! Terrible company.
