Oh dear - FROM UNIMPRESSED TO OFFENDED
Oh dear - PREVIOUSLY JUST UNIMPRESSED - NOW OFFENDED
I shared my experience on Trustpilot, detailing a fundamental policy unfairness. In saving Covea 2 weeks of an otherwise legitimate claim by accepting employment early, I had to forfeit 2 weeks of my claim due to interpretation of the waiting period. There is no recognition of what I was initially told by the previous owners of the company or indeed the broker. Covea were again charming on the phone, but pressed me into making a complaint. My beef was not to complain about the policy, but simply to highlight a human unfairness in my situation. Instead, I receive a bossy letter explaining my 'complaint' had been rejected because my claim did not satisfy the policy requirements. I had already accepted that in my phone call, so why the need to write to me to 'put me in my place'? When asked what would make me feel better about the situation, I suggested an ex-gratia payment would make me change my view of Covea. This was taken as a 'request' by Covea that they also rejected. It was a simple comment, Covea, nothing as vulgar as a request. I am not complaining about what you did, and I am not requesting an ex-gratia payment (though that would remedy my irritation). I am merely pointing out that you have benefitted from me by taking all my premiums & avoiding having to pay out for a mere two weeks of a claim claim because I accepted employment ONE WEEK too soon. The reasonable approach would have made me glowing about Covea; this experience will not gain positive word of mouth from me.
