The curtains fit the brief of being a thermal and acoustic room divider, and my heating bills have dropped dramatically, thanks to the thermal lining of the double curtain. Although I appreciate the huge amount of work taken to transcribe the Census and produce it in such well organised format for purchasers, I do feel very disappointed that individual records have to be paid for. Although I might access some family individuals, I use the census for local history research, and this limits what I can do - as a retired independent historian on a limited income.
I have also had to report quite a lot of mis-transcriptions. I am only too familiar with the vagaries of handwriting, and appreciate the need for speed by your workers, but a little common sense might have helped in some instances. It is particularly disappointing as searchers are dependent on correctly transcribed data in the data forms.
