I recently visited Tokyo and decided to book a few tours through Viator. One being the Go-Kart experience. We were super excited after seeing all of the photos on Instagram. It was one of the more expensive things to do but we thought it would be worth while.
We booked for a specific date and planned our days according to the schedule and then we received an email to say the date needed to be changed. We weren't very happy because it meant moving around a couple of other things but we made it work. We got to the event to then be told by the director that we 'should not have been able to book the tickets without an international driving licence' and that if we had booked directly with them, we would have been advised to get this PRIOR to them taking our money. They said to contact Viator and you will receive a refund(at no fault of their own, he was really polite). We contacted Viator to explain what happened, we both have driving licences but we did not apply for the additional international driving licence (only valid for Japan) due to Viator not specifying or sending through the confirmation/event details by email until we had already landed in Japan. Extremely unprofessional when emailing for information/filing a complaint. We would like a full refund for the event but unfortunately, they are now choosing to ignore us after a few attempts to contact them. Do not make the same mistake as us and think that they value their customers, we will not be booking through them again.
