Misleading Payment Promises – Avoid If You Need Fast Cash

I recently sent my MacBook Air and iPad Air to MusicMagpie based on their clear promise of same-day payment upon receiving my items. Their website explicitly states:

“We pay on the same day we receive your items, and your cash will be in your bank account and ready to spend the next working day.”

However, despite my items being delivered before 7 AM on February 12, 2025 (confirmed via Royal Mail Special Delivery tracking), I have yet to receive payment or even an update reflecting that they have been received in my account.

Customer Service – Full of Excuses

When I reached out via live chat, their automated system denied receiving my items, even though I had clear proof of delivery. A live agent eventually confirmed receipt but then moved the goalposts, saying it can take up to 3 working days to process – completely contradicting their same-day payment guarantee.

Despite highlighting this blatant false advertising, they refused to offer any goodwill compensation or even acknowledge their misleading claims.

Final Verdict

🚫 False Advertising – Same-day payment claim is a complete lie.
🚫 Slow & Unreliable Processing – Be prepared to wait days, not hours.
🚫 Poor Customer Service – Unhelpful chat support and shifting policies.

If you’re selling tech and need fast cash, AVOID MusicMagpie – they do not deliver on their promises!

The evaluation of the order was finalized on 15/02/2025, but payment could not be made that day as transactions are handled on weekdays. Consequently, it was processed on the following business day, which was 17/02/2025.

Loyalty Means Nothing to Sky – A Disappointing End After 8 Years

I recently ended my 8-year relationship with Sky, and I’m incredibly disappointed with how things turned out. As a Platinum VIP customer – a tier that’s supposed to reflect loyalty and provide some level of recognition – I expected better treatment. Instead, I was refused an upgrade to Sky Stream unless I paid significantly more than what new customers were being offered. It seems loyalty means absolutely nothing to Sky.

To make matters worse, the entire cancellation process took less than 8 minutes, which speaks volumes about how little they value long-term customers. After 8 years of loyalty, I expected at least an attempt to retain me with a competitive offer or even a discussion, but Sky was quick to let me go. The Platinum VIP tier clearly holds no real benefits, and this experience has left me feeling undervalued and let down.

If you’re considering staying loyal to Sky in the hope of being rewarded, don’t bother – it seems they only prioritise new customers.

Decent Gym, but Serious Issues with Atmosphere and Management

The Gym Group is a solid choice for affordability, with competitive pricing, decent equipment, and relatively clean facilities. The 24/7 access is a huge plus for those with busy schedules, and on the surface, it seems like a great option for casual or regular training.

However, the gym’s have some serious drawbacks that can’t be ignored. Firstly, they struggle to keep children (under 16) out, which is not only against policy but also disruptive for those trying to work out. Additionally, the clientele can be questionable at times—gangs and groups of people who clearly aren’t there to train often dominate the space, making it feel uncomfortable and unwelcoming for genuine gym-goers.

The staff don’t help matters either, as they tend to turn a blind eye to antisocial behavior, and some even give off “gang vibes” themselves. This lack of professionalism extends to the PTs, some of whom I’ve seen flirting with female clients, which is both off-putting and highly unprofessional.

While the gym’s itself are good for the price, the atmosphere and lack of enforcement of basic policies seriously detract from the experience. With better management and stricter policies, The Gym Group could be great—but for now, it’s just average.

Beware of Misleading Companies on Compare and Recycle

My experience with Compare and Recycle has been nothing short of disappointing. The companies they promote on their platform seem either to be frauds who haven’t been properly vetted or knowingly misleading, and it feels like Compare and Recycle turns a blind eye to this.

In my last few transactions, the companies I found through their site have not only ripped me off but also created a frustrating experience. They drastically reduced their quoted prices on baseless claims, such as asserting my phones were damaged or exceeded wear-and-tear expectations—claims that were completely untrue.

To make matters worse, I was forced to pay my own postage fees to get my phone returned, effectively trapping me into accepting their unfairly reduced offers. This kind of practice is deceptive and leaves customers with little choice but to take the hit.

Compare and Recycle needs to do a better job of vetting the companies they list and holding them accountable for misleading practices. Until then, I would recommend steering clear of this platform if you want a fair and hassle-free experience selling your old devices.

If you disagree with a recycler's evaluation of a device, our advice is to always decline any offer you are not happy with and have the device returned if needed.

Disappointing Experience with Vionic Insoles

I purchased a pair of Vionic insoles from ShoeInsoles hoping they would help alleviate the pain caused by my fallen arches, but unfortunately, they’ve made no difference whatsoever. Despite the product’s claims, my pain remains the same, and I’m left feeling let down by the lack of results.

I was expecting some level of improvement, even if minor, but these insoles provided no relief at all. Considering the price and the reputation of the brand, I had higher expectations. It’s disappointing to invest in a product that does not deliver on its promises.

While the purchasing process was straightforward, the product itself fell far short of what I needed. I wouldn’t recommend these insoles to anyone dealing with fallen arches, as they simply didn’t work for me.

Decent Gear, but Quality Can Be Hit or Miss

Fanatics offers a solid range of sports merchandise, and their variety is impressive for fans of nearly every sport. I’ve bought some NFL jerseys and other gear from them, and while some items have been great, there are definitely some quality concerns that hold the experience back.

One of the biggest disappointments is that some merchandise is produced by Fanatics rather than the actual franchise, which often results in a cheaper feel. For instance, I’ve purchased NFL jerseys from them only to find that the name was printed on rather than sewn, unlike jerseys I’ve bought from other retailers. This lack of consistency in quality takes away from the premium feel you’d expect when purchasing official team merchandise.

That said, Fanatics does have decent gear at times, and their site is convenient for finding items all in one place. Just be mindful that not everything is of the same standard as the franchise-produced merchandise. A bit more attention to quality would make Fanatics a top choice for sports fans.

Poor Customer Service and Mishandling of Account Issues

OVO Energy has been a frustrating experience that ultimately forced me to look elsewhere. Their customer service is well below par, with a lack of urgency and accountability in resolving issues. Despite repeated attempts, they failed to acknowledge and refund the credit balance on my account, leaving me feeling ignored and out of pocket.

To make matters worse, they made a complete hash of updating my smart meter status on the national database, which caused unnecessary delays and complications. These basic errors and poor communication are unacceptable, especially for an energy provider where trust and reliability are essential.

I expected better but was deeply disappointed. If you’re considering OVO Energy, think twice—there are other providers out there who value their customers and handle issues far more professionally.

Fantastic Deals, But the App Needs Work

The Perfume Shop is an excellent choice for anyone looking for competitive deals on fragrances. When compared to the Fragrance Shop or Boots, their prices and offers often come out on top, making it a go-to for gifting or treating yourself. The variety of brands and frequent discounts are impressive, ensuring there’s always something for everyone at a great price.

That said, the app leaves much to be desired. It’s clunky, slow, and not user-friendly, which can make browsing and purchasing more frustrating than it needs to be. With such a strong retail offering, the app really doesn’t do justice to the quality and value the Perfume Shop provides.

If they could sort out the app, this would easily be a 5-star experience. For now, I’ll keep using the store or website for their unbeatable deals!

UNiDAYS used to be the ultimate app for students—a one-stop shop for amazing discounts and exclusive offers that felt tailored to student life. It truly was a game-changer back in the day, offering real value and making student budgets stretch further.

Unfortunately, those glory days seem to be behind it. The app has become far less innovative, and the deals aren’t as impressive or unique as they once were. Many offers are now available elsewhere, making it feel less exclusive. The user experience has also suffered, with the app feeling clunky at times and the excitement of new, standout deals largely missing.

While it still has some useful discounts, UNiDAYS no longer feels like the essential app it once was for students. It’s a shame to see it fall behind when it was once at the top of its game.

Game-Changer for Discounts and Offers!

The Three+ app is undoubtedly one of the best out there when it comes to discounts and offers. Compared to Vodafone Rewards and O2 Priority, it stands unrivaled! The deals are fantastic and cover a wide range of categories, making it easy to save money on everyday purchases and special treats.

The app’s interface is clean and user-friendly, though it does have a few minor hiccups. It tends to time out and log users out a bit too frequently, which can be frustrating. Additionally, used vouchers aren’t always immediately removed from your account, which can cause a little confusion.

That said, these are minor issues compared to the value the app provides. While Three as a network might not be the strongest, the Three+ app is a game-changer and a brilliant perk for customers. Highly recommended for the offers alone!

EE: Blazing Speeds but Frustrating Service and Coverage Challenges

Having been with EE for some time, I’ve had a mix of both positive and negative experiences. On the positive side, when I was able to get a good 5G connection, the speeds were phenomenal—streaming and downloads were impressively fast. EE’s “Add to Plan” feature was also a standout; it allowed me to spread the cost of tech purchases over 24 months, which made getting new gadgets much more affordable and flexible. Additionally, my plan was a legacy deal that offered good value, though it is no longer available to new customers.

However, there were significant downsides that led to me leaving EE. The most frustrating issue was the excessive call waiting times, with hold times regularly exceeding 30 minutes, which became unbearable. Moreover, despite the potential for high speeds, the 5G coverage in my area was inconsistent. More often than not, I struggled to stream music on Apple Music due to poor network reliability.

In conclusion, while EE has impressive speed potential and some great perks like “Add to Plan,” their customer service wait times and inconsistent 5G coverage were deal-breakers for me, leading me to switch to Vodafone.

Misleading Quotes and Shambolic Service

I recently had a terrible experience with Uber Link. They initially quoted me £430 for my iPhone 15, which was in excellent condition. Trusting their quote, I sent my phone to them, only to be shocked when they regraded it and offered me significantly less than what Apple would pay—a complete joke!

This company moved the goalposts after receiving my device, demonstrating a lack of integrity and honesty. It's clear they lure customers in with attractive quotes only to downgrade the condition of the phone for their own gain. I feel cheated and regret choosing Uber Link. Avoid these frauds if you value transparency and fair pricing.

On the rare occasion I did make contact with a representative, I received assurances of callbacks that never materialised. This pattern has left me feeling disregarded and has been a discouraging barrier to progressing in my job search. It seems there might be a focus on candidates with whom they have preexisting relationships, which has made it particularly challenging for new applicants like myself to receive fair consideration.

For a company that prides itself on professional recruitment, the communication and reliability in handling potential candidates need significant improvement.

I’ve been monitoring my parents’ Octopus Energy app, particularly the “Spin the Wheel” feature, for the last three months, hoping to see some of the promised rewards. Despite regular attempts, the wheel has consistently landed on zero, which has been incredibly disappointing.

Octopus Energy markets this feature as a chance to win prizes, yet the continuous lack of wins raises questions about the fairness and the actual odds of this game. As one of the more expensive energy suppliers, it feels like Octopus could do more to enhance user engagement and satisfaction. Transparent communication about the likelihood of winning, or perhaps adjusting the game to offer more frequent, smaller prizes might help manage expectations better and improve customer sentiment.

In its current form, the Spin the Wheel feature feels more like a gimmick than a genuine user benefit. It’s frustrating and does little to justify the premium pricing of Octopus Energy. I hope the company takes customer feedback into account and makes improvements to genuinely enrich their customer experience.

Disappointing Experience with NatWest’s Dispute Resolution Process

I recently had a highly unsatisfactory experience with NatWest’s dispute resolution service concerning a significant amount I paid to Canada IMS for immigration-related services. Despite clear evidence of non-delivery of crucial services, NatWest’s handling of my case was frustratingly inadequate.

Details of My Experience:

I engaged Canada IMS to provide comprehensive services aimed at facilitating my move to Canada, including job search consultation and more. Unfortunately, many of these services were not delivered, particularly critical elements like personalized coaching and interview preparations, essential for my success in Canada’s competitive job market.

When I realized the services were not as promised, I turned to NatWest to dispute the transactions. I expected a straightforward process, given the clear shortfall from Canada IMS. However, the response from NatAssist West was deeply disappointing. They refused my chargeback request, citing that I had not provided sufficient evidence of service non-delivery, despite my detailed explanations and documentation.

What was even more frustrating was NatWest’s strict adherence to the 120-day rule, without considering the 540-day rule applicable to ongoing services like mine. This showed a lack of understanding and flexibility in dealing with disputes involving complex service delivery, which can unfold over an extended period.

Ideal Outcome Ignored:
I had hoped for a full refund of the £1,292.62 paid, acknowledgment of the service failure, and perhaps most importantly, an assurance that they would review and improve their dispute handling procedures. Unfortunately, none of these outcomes were achieved, and the matter was handled with a cookie-cutter approach that failed to address the specifics of my case.

Final Thoughts:
This experience has significantly eroded my trust in NatWest’s ability to support their customers through disputes. It seems there is a gap between what is promised in terms of customer support and what is delivered, especially in complex cases like mine. I am now compelled to take further actions, including approaching the Financial Ombudsman Service, to seek justice.

To potential NatWest customers, be cautious. If your issue requires understanding and flexibility in its resolution, you might find yourself as disappointed and frustrated as I am.

I enrolled at KBM Training and Recruitment with the goal of gaining accounting qualifications, but my experience was deeply unsatisfactory. The company fell short of providing the professional educational environment that was promised. Firstly, the instructors did not seem to have adequate professional teaching credentials, which significantly hindered the learning process. Additionally, the course fees were not justified by the quality of education delivered.

The course materials provided were substandard, mostly sourced from easily accessible online content, which contributed to a feeling of being constantly behind. Communication was also a challenge, as the instructors had heavy accents that were difficult to understand, further complicating the learning experience.

Given these issues, I could not continue with the program and decided to request a refund within a month of starting. For anyone considering KBM for their educational needs, I would urge you to look into these aspects carefully before committing.
