Best option for Mallorca

Lesson 1: rent a car in Mallorca, as taxis are expensive and difficult to get
Lesson 2: the big rental companies seem cheap but then they almost charge double the price when you try to reduce the insurance excess

Autos Mallorca has an unassuming Web site, but the cars are good. Once you reduce the excess to zero, the deals they offer are far superior. Highly recommended.

Unreliable

Unfortunately this is already the third time that we had ordered a taxi, and it has not shown up. There was no message, no alert. When we tried to call, no one picked up. To be fair, it was early in the morning. But when you need to go to the airport, you really do need a reliable service. For us enough is enough, we will no longer use them.

Worth the new driveway

We've used Beckingham Block Paving to redo our driveway, where many bricks had become loose and we effectively had a bit of a ditch in the middle of it. A new driveway is expensive, but this was well worth the money. We've discovered several more issues once the old bricks were removed, explaining the poor quality of the previous driveway. Everything was redone at a much better level of quality including some additional requests we've had.

Excellent service without trying to up-sell

Spitfire doors came to us with a no-nonsense approach. They were honest about what would work for us and what not. They did not try to sell us more than what we needed. The installation itself was timely and without problems, and we're now very happy with our new garage door.

Attention: not the official Web site

Attention: this is not the official Web site for Kenya visa applications. We applied there not knowing this. We only noticed something strange when we did not receive an email confirmation. We tried calling repeatedly but each time after a while waiting, the phone got disconnected. We cannot tell if this is a fraudulent Web site or not. But given the visa is also more expensive than on the official government Web site, I see little reason to run the risk.

Misled into a new contract that I cannot revert

I've been a long-term EE broadband and mobile customer. Recently I've been advised to switch to a new contract where I would save money. I've been promised no loss of download speed, and in any case I could revert within 14 days.

The new contract started, and of course the network speed was much slower. Unusable for my needs. So I've called to revert only to find out after several escalations that my old contract is no longer available and I cannot revert. So I've been lied to by EE in two ways. If I had done nothing, everything would have been fine. EE openly admitted there is nothing they can do to help me and they understand if I want to leave. So leaving it is...

Have been reimbursed.

As soon as I've signed up with Home Rescue, I've been asked to post a review on Trust Pilot. That is without having received any service. Now that I had an incident with a leaking hot water tank, I realize that I should have been more cautious. The company charged me an excess of 75.00 GBP up front. They then sent an engineer one day later who said he cannot help and that Home Rescue will advise next steps. Meanwhile my tank keeps leaking, destroying my floor. I had to call them to find out that they won't help me at all, but that I won't get the money back either. The engineers are not from Home Rescue but sourced from external providers.

Update: A local plumber has looked at our water tank and been able to fix the issue. However, Home Rescue have now reimbursed the excess fee. Good customer service.

I have reviewed your account and the notes and it seems that you contacted us on 24/1/20 at 7:53PM about a leak.

An engineer was deployed the very next day to attended the property. Engineer report states that the leak was coming from the body of the cylinder itself due to rust. Engineer confirms he checked all joints and service valve there was no leaks on them. Thus meaning a new cylinder was required :

We advised yourself that the cylinder is the issue and that it is not something which is covered under the policy. You are not due a refund and the £75 payed is the call out fee, for the engineer visiting your property and diagnosing the fault.

Professional and friendly

I had the cool sculpting treatment with very good results. My first visit was purely informational, and importantly I did not feel pressured into any treatment. I was warned of side effects, matching what I had read online elsewhere. When I later chose to go ahead, everything went exactly as I had been told. Fortunately, I did not experience any side effects. At all visits I felt well informed by the friendly staff.

Having called table-tennis-tables to get some advice which model to choose, I have bought a mid range table. It was delivered promptly and without issues. The assembly instructions were easy to follow (no help was needed). We're very happy with the table and use it a lot. Highly recommended!

Great, friendly service on short notice

Needed to have a stuck dust cap fixed with a valve replacement on short notice. No luck with tyre shops, no luck with Stephen James BMW. No problem with Halfords!

Overpriced and low value service

A BMW is not exactly a cheap car. So you might be forgiven to hope that a BMW service provider would have some sort of customer focus. However, Stephen James are not only substantially more expensive than regular service stations, their service is decidedly sub-par.

My most recent example is due to a dust cap that was completely stuck. About to go on a long distance trip, I didn't want to take the risk of not being able to drive with adequate tyre pressure. Calling Stephen James for some emergency assistance, all I've been told is that there is no guarantee they would be able to help. They were all fully booked. They advised that I could use BMW Assist if I had warranty, which I don't anymore. So that was no help either. Otherwise they told me there was nothing I could do, leaving me completely exposed.

Turns out that Halfords, who are not BMW specific, are able to help on short notice and at a fraction of the price.

Odeon Limitless

I've made the mistake and signed up for a Limitless membership, as I go to the cinema a lot and especially like the IMAX. However, little did I know how difficult it would be to actually book tickets using this membership. The problem is that both the app and the Web site booking system often throw an error particularly when there is much demand. It happens right after the payment step such that I don't know for sure whether I haven't accidentally been charged. Then, it tells me to try again. But the seats I had selected are still shown as blocked and I can no longer use my Limitless membership. I have to wait more than an hour before I can try again. Despite repeated complaints via email, phone and in the cinema, Odeon have still not fixed this issue.
