BEWARE of Ancestry
Ancestry.com cannot and will not dispute the following facts, check them yourself:-
FACT: 22% of UK customers, 1765 people (almost a quarter of their customers) rate Ancestry.com as bad on Trustpilot.
FACT: Ancestry.com score on SiteJabber (almost 500 reviewers) is a shocking 1.52 out of 5.0 stars - at 30% satisfaction - that is a miserable fail.
FACT: 16% of UK customers, 757 people rate Ancestry.co.uk as bad on Trustpilot.
That is a hell of a lot of unhappy customers - do you want to give your hard earned money to such a badly performing company. I am a verified Ancestry.com customer but not for much longer. I am quite happy to share details of my valid current membership with Trustpilot - who are exemplary.
Please note in their reply to me that they WILL NOT refer to the huge percentage of their customers who, like me are un-happy with their service....
I am strongly advising the millions of Irish Diaspora in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and many other countries., based om my experience using the Ancestry.com site, to save your hard earned money. I have not been able to locate a single document via their website, they should re-name their site ‘no Image available’ as that is the message that you will see constantly on every search.
So, if you are trying to trace your Irish roots, based on my research stay well clear of Ancestry.com. I was able to obtain all of the documents which were ‘unavailable’ on Ancestry, via FREE Civil Records on sites such nationalarchives.ie, irishgenealogy.ie and others – save your hard earned money. These records were readily available on FREE SITES yet NOT available on the quite expensive Ancestry, com site???
Also be wary of their 14 day trials as if not cancelled on time commit you to 6 or 12 month contracts to this almost useless service unless you specifically de-select. BEWARE – you’ve been warned.
