No support

I’ve been on prolific for 2.5 years, great platform and has been a life changer for me but support is non existent and i’m now at the point of needing to go direct to the CEO

When the special participant group was introduced, I was immediately invited to it which was expected as 80% of my studies prior to its creation had been AI.

I started doing special participant studies up until January and then Prolific made some changes to the systems to combat script, bot and refreshing issues. Welcomed changes…. but it soon became apparent that I and a number of others hadn’t seen any SPG studies for a week or 2. It quickly transpired that with the updates, there had been a number of issues with some of our accounts and a tech engineer was trying to help us via the reddit sub and identify the problem. He had apparently identified it and loaded a fix but some of us, myself included have not seen a SPG study since.

I’ve now raised this with prolific support function for 10 months and every single time I get a reply with factually incorrect information and once I reply stating that’s incorrect I hear no further response and have to raise another ticket! the cycle goes round and round and round.

I’ve been told i’m not in the group, despite my account information showing that I am. I’ve been told i have never been in the group, despite me submitting my submission history showing SPG labelled studies! I’ve been told i’m not in it and never have been and i’ve been told that they can see I can now take studies so will once more close my ticket! Completely ignoring the query relating to SPECIALISED studies!

I appreciate the support function is completely overwhelmed which Is frustrating as a participant, but not responding to support tickets and just closing them cause they don’t have the answer is not okay.

I dread to think how much in earnings I have missed out on this year as a result of being part of a group that I cannot view the studies of!

I have now literally begged the support team to look into it properly and my ticket just falls into a black hole despite sending them evidence showing that what they are responding with is factually incorrect and that in itself shows there is a fundamental issue with my account! It has passed the stage of infuriating now. Having this issue for nearly a year is absolutely unacceptable! As is seeing other participants bragging how much they are making from this group when you’re suppose to be in it but the studies are not linking with your account!

I’ve tried support now 6 times, i’ve tried the Reddit community so this evening I have contacted the CEO with my submission history showing I was doing SPG studies up until January and showing my account clearly displaying that i’m in it along with a reply from his team stating “You are not and have never been it” - at what point does someone say “oh hang on, yeah something is wrong here as our system is saying this which is clearly incorrect and the person is not but should be seeing the studies! Let us root cause what has gone wrong!”

I’ll always love prolific, but its lost its way over the last 18 months and its a huge shame


*Update*

Yet another response that leaves me in limbo. Not seeing specialised study for 10 months, proof that I am in and was completing studies within the group and prolifics view showing I am not in and have never been in it is not rationale enough to warrant an escalation to someone in their technology department - Make that make sense!

Is it any wonder I’ve not seen a single study from the group in 10 months when their own system is recognising me as not being in it! But apparently, nothings wrong with my account and it’s in good standing!

Amazing website and brilliant pay

Amazing website and brilliant pay! the site has lots of interesting projects and the pay is extremely fair! The only thing stopping me give an easy 5 star is their recent removal of Paypal payments and not making in an option when cashing in via tremendous. When you do claim a gift card though it is instant which is appreciated! but please bring back Paypal!!

Never ending loop of survey attempts…

Never ending loop of survey attempts due to Toluna selling out to data harvesting 3rd parties. 35 minutes on the site today and never ending questions that result in F all! Over 250k points available cause nobody can complete a dam survey

Toluna is finished. Sold itself out, screwed up the community, site and rewards but no worries, the likes of cint, samplicio will keep paying you whilst they spam your site and harvest your users data

This review will no doubt be followed by 3 fake 5 star ones!

Where to begin…
I was one of the first in the UK to get Chase as a bank account on a pilot trial and had nothing but good things to say, boy how times have changed

1) Regularly send money that gets put into ‘pending’
2) Just yesterday had £500 sent to my account from a merchant who confirmed everything was sent their side, could see it on Chase side but as per usual ‘pending’ fobbed off by live chat that the merchant needed to confirm the transaction which they repeatedly confirmed all was correct and final their side ( apple Pay refund by the way so should take 1-2 hours max and in my other bank its instant from the same
Merchant, coincidence that.

Then the savings rate con. Last year I got an email in the summer “we’re offering 5% boosted rate on our savings until January 2025” moved all my savings into Chase and got the savings rate until about October and the BOE unexpectedly cut interest rates for the 1st time in a long while and coincidently so did my chase interest rate! Contacted support who fobbed me off with “yes you’re getting a 1% boosted rate above the BOE rate” this was NOT the promotion, the promotion was 5% boosted rate until January but some genius at Chase had worked out that they could gaslight customers by saying the promotion was a boosted rate only which the millions of customers that moved their savings to them were still getting - absolute farce.

So now that everyone has swiftly removed their savings, I will be doing the same!

In this day and age and with technology advances there is no reason or justification for payments to be ‘pending’ and therefore Chase cannot be trusted with my money! The last time this happened I got stranded on the motorway with no petrol because chase wanted to hang onto what should have been an instant transfer.

That coupled with gaslighting me over a promotion that clearly said “5% until January” NOT “boosted rate until January” i’m out and so is my money

Unfortunately, with pending payments, these are sometimes held in the system due to the way they have been returned to us, we are unable to expedite this until the merchants process team allow this on their side.

Brilliant side gig that pays promptly…

Brilliant side gig that pays promptly after 14 days. Always interesting UX tests. The reason I have not rated it 5 star is due to the support element. Takes too long to get a response, researchers are able to fraud the process to cancel live tests last minute without payment but if we do so we are given a 1 star rating and UT refuses to deal with what is becoming a common issue and I wish we were able to get paid in something other than paypal as they take a huge chunk of our pay! Additionally I wish they would have kept the 7 day pay

Do not give these con artists your…

Do not give these con artists your money! ordered beginning of December and still not arrived!!! gone via my bank to claim back the money they've clearly stolen and as a result have had to get a new bank card due to the evident fraud. Tracking numbers are useless don't work! likely fake like the entire transaction. Thieves and should be avoided at all costs! 7-14 day delivery is clearly fake too

Same blends over and over

Bit of a delayed review but I was about to order for a January cleanse and realised that its going to be the same experience that I had this year already. I ordered a juice cleanse in 2022 which was quite frankly amazing! The juices were absolutely lovely and I could have honestly kept going long after the 7 days! Every day it was exciting to see what Juice I would get next. I re-ordered a 7 day plan earlier this year really looking forward to it again only to discover it had all changed! There’s now 5 juices per day, all confusingly labeled day 1 juice 1 etc. which would be fine if you didn’t have repeat juices and missing juices from the pattern! Which was then a mind field! On top of that, those lovely juices from the first cleanse were replaced with bland blends which seemed to consist of non stop beetroot or avocado heavy blends over and over again. After day 2 I honestly couldn’t stomach anymore and poured half of them down the sink which was really upsetting since its so expensive.

So why the review now? I wanted to kick off the new year with a cleanse but it appears nothing had changed and it will be the same disappointing order!

First cleanse was world class 5* second was a 0* and a huge gut wrenching waste of money

It's my first week on the site and…

It's my first week on the site and after 72 hours I was absolutely blown away by how professional and fair it was in comparison to other survey sites who are just looking to profit from people. The studies to date have been so interesting and I have really enjoyed them.

I made a cash out on my first day which was processed a few hours later but when trying to cash out the second day, I quickly realized my first 4 would only be processed on a Tuesday and Friday. What I don't like about that is that you're unable to even set up another cash out in-between until the other is processed. It then got to yesterday when I took part in a 50 minute study which in my opinion from the offset hadn't allocated enough time. The instructions alone had taken me 15 minutes to read and do various tasks in preparation for the main task, followed by another step which took a further 20 minutes, leaving me only 15 minutes to do what was the main task... I did it to the best of my ability, as much as I could and as per their instruction and made sure I submitted it before the timer as I was aware that you are timed out of tasks if you go beyond the allocated time. I've woken up this morning to find that task, the £7 and my time had been rejected which was extremely unfair. I contacted the researcher and prolific about this so will see what they come back with (if anything) but I'm hoping this was a one off situation and that its not a common theme.

Aside from that now being a concern, I am concerned about the amount of peoples accounts being closed without negotiation for failing quality checks of any kind. I don't think businesses that adapt this approach is fair as human beings can easily be made even with the purest of intentions. I can whole heartedly say I do everything with integrity but on other sites I have on occasion miss read a question because often the main body of the question is asked immediately so sometimes you don't feel the need to read the last 3 words etc. If survey companies on the whole were fair with their payments and accurate in the time predicted for surveys, we wouldn't need to skim read to begin with. Sadly there are dishonest people out there who ruin it for a majority of the honest ones which lead to these kind of policies being introduced but I don't like the idea of a company taking a "One strike and you're out" approach as nearly every human being will get that stike at some point purely because....we're human! so reading this has made me a little nervous. I don't feel companies should be able to do that and keep any money you've earned - it's highly unethical so i do hope this isn't this case with prolific because so far I have been really really impressed and enjoyed the studies! they've been really interesting. Hoping to get past these initial 4 withdrawals so that I can withdraw whenever I want as I will be extremely cautious about building up a balance with any risk it could be sized until then.

Having been more than happy with their salary finance service my employer recently announced their salary advance service had now been launched. I signed up for this In November and my employment details were confirmed within 24 hours. I was sent a link to create my account but when trying to set up I kept getting a message to say my bank details didn’t match what they had been provided.

I raised the issue to them in December after my employer confirmed that they had given the correct details.

From December - end of January and weekly emails between myself and customer service, no progress! So I raised a complaint. To this day, no acknowledgment or response to complaint. As for the issue, still
Unresolved 4 months later, fobbed off week in week out, told progress has been made and yet none has. Nobody cares, the customer service team can’t even get a response from their internal
Teams so what chance do we have as customers?

The joke is, I have an active loan that gets paid monthly from the same account they are telling me is incorrect but apparently that’s a separate part of the business so doesn’t count lol!

So my employer have given them the same bank details I have, their finance company are getting paid from the same account that I and my employer have correctly given them and 5 months down the line they have yet to fix the issue. It seems by the other reviews this is a common issue so at what point does the company look into their internal processes that are clearly at fault and not fit for purpose?

Since they won’t acknowledge or respond to my complaint I can’t do anything my side apart from get fobbed off on a weekly basis that they still haven’t made ANY progress. That’s if your lucky to get an update at all, your promised those and don’t get them either.

Most frustrating situation I think i’ve ever dealt with. Pulling teeth would be less painful and quite frankly they couldn’t care any less!

Had potential to be great

As an experienced mystery shopping I'm pleased that I'll be able to provide what is a very balanced and fair view. firstly, I would probably give this site 2.5 stars as in my opinion I would say they are great at some things and quite poor at others - How much more balanced can you get eh!

Things they do well:
1) Payments are mostly processed quickly and the communication on this is great. You're informed what tasks you've been paid for and how much the payment will be
2) Some of the tasks are really interesting and take little time for a reasonable payment
3) The feedback you're given from the QA team on your assignment is always useful and fair
4) Plenty of tasks available and a wide variety to chose from

Things they don't do so well

1) Sometimes It can be a little frustrating when you have a number of assignments as 'ready for pay' but then only a handful will be processed that week

2) The shopper briefs often have mistakes on them and this is frustrating when you're ready to do the task and then can't get in touch with anyone to clarify

3) Most tasks that you apply for could easily be auto assigned but instead they sit in pending for sometimes a week or more which is incredibly frustrating. I've had tasks approved weeks after the date I said I could do them and then chased for the completion cause eventually I just stopped looking to see if any had been approved.

4) The communication from the team could be better. Some of the team are lovely and make you feel like a valued member of their wider team. Others can sometimes speak to you like trash and give you a 'like it or lump it' kind of attitude

I eventually stopped using this site over a complete lack of communication following a charity task. Having stood in the freezing cold for 20 minutes trying to follow the process and contact someone as the charity rep was not present, I couldn't get an answer. Despite this, I followed the remainder of the task and waited an additional 30 minutes before going home and submitting the assignment as a 'no show' with photographic (time and dated) evidence. I immediately received a email from the project manager stating I would not be paid since I didn't call them and when i stated that I had called several times I was more of less called a liar. In addition, this task completed in full would take approximately 20 minutes to complete for a payment of £10. On the basis of the charity not being present at the location, you would have to wait on site for up to 30-45 minutes for half the pay rate. This as you can see when written down, isn't justifiable.

So sadly I don't use the site anymore but think it's a good side earning generally if you chose the tasks sensibly.

Never again

Never again! The house is like the house that Jack built!

5 years in and have had to have our sewers unblocked TWENTY times, yes TWENTY, along with our front gardens dug up to re-do the sewer systems outside which was causing the issue.

This month we’ve had a water bill for triple its normal amount, after having Anglian water out they confirmed the leak is in the house. After a further and costly visit from a plumber, 3 of the 4 toilets are leaking! The tank completely emptying and re-filling themselves on a continuous cycle and now the systems all need to be replaced, along with the the pulling apart of the housing as all the toilet systems are hidden and enclosed.

This follows having a leaking bath that poured water through the ceiling due to yet another faulty valve

Worst nightmare ever buying a house from these cowboys

Hero’s to zero in 4 weeks!

6 weeks ago I would have said this site was brilliant, that was until they’ve owed me £40 for nearly 4 weeks due to failed paypal attempts and to add salt to the wound, have deducted money from my balance not once, but twice in 7 days! No explanation just a £1.44 ‘adjustment’ one occasion and a £1.10 ‘adjustment’ on another! Their clients are getting our answers then refusing to pay us, cheap way of getting insight and crowdology ought to crack down on it pronto as i’ve never cheated or rushed a survey and i’m absolute raging that they have the nerve to deduct money from me when they owe me so much! They never respond to queries, its appalling.

Wont be earning a penny more from me until they’ve returned money they’ve stolen from me and paid me for money i’ve already earned.

Also, beware! The surveys are taking longer and longer to complete now and often nearly double the time advertised for poor incentive!

The rewards are not as generous as other sites but it makes up for it in other ways and gives you the chance to win 1,000,000 points each day

Great site to grab some tickets

Use this site all the time for tickets.

Yes they are often ridiculous prices, but you can also get some really great deals and the seats are really great every time.

Recently bought Little mix tickets that were still available on ticket master at £58 (not including fees). The only seats that were available were all in what I call 'The gods'

On double 8 i picked up 3 tickets for £65 each, level 1 tier and in the first 10 rows and near the stage.

Ripped off to make up sales targets

Took car for a full service at £189, dropped car off at 8.20. Recieve phone call at 9.30am (yes just 1 hour for a service) to say the service was done and a list of all the usual “your brakes are just above the legal recommeded” blah blah” basically said if it didnt need doing i’m not getting it done. Then comes the bombshell “oh and your rear silencer bracket is broken so will need to fix it and i have some bad news. Because of the way Peugeot make their cars now, the exhaust is one complete part so the whole thing needs changing i’m afraid which is £357” trusting the mechanic as i’m not one myself, I had the work done. My work colleague drove me to the garage and on the way i explained what was wrong with the car to which he replied with something I cannot relpeat on here! Being a car enthusiast himself, he looked up my car, and the exhaust... along with the various sections it comes in!!! When picking up the car and presenting the mechanic with this along with the fact he lied and said it was one complete part he become very sheepesh and claimed “well it does come in parts yes, but in the past we have struggled to fit the bore size togther on ‘some’ Peugeots! Thanks Mr Halfords ... So i’ve paid £357 for a part i didnt need on the basis that a few of the thousands of Peugeots you probably fix every year the exhaust wouldnt link up properly? DISGUSTING.

My colleague then asked him to see the parts he removed, in which case Mr Halfords became visually uncomfortable and snapped “i’m not trying to rip you off” - No Mr Halfords, you Just DID rip me off.

Having complained to their appalling customer services dept, i recieve a written response completely overlooking the point of my complaint and claiming that having checked with independent technitions, I was informed correctly that 2 parts of the exhaust are better to be changed together for “quality” finish and that i was qouted and authorised for this work to be done - no mention of the fact that the mechanic had wrongly told me that the exhaust can ONLY be changed as a complete part. 4 other garages including Peugeot themselves also stated the rear silencer comes as a seperate part and can be changed on it’s own. In fact, Halfords themselves sell the part for £136! So I ask you.... why would a customer opt to have £400 of work done on a car if they given an option of having it done for a 3rd of the price?? Answers on a postcard please because customer services insist I ‘chose’ to have the whole thing replaced.

And on the issue of the full service that i paid £189 for? “Some of the checks were done within the hour, the remainder were done throughout the allocated morning time slot” - and yet the mechanic was able to tell me the result of every check he had done following my “completed” service and try and get me to have repairs done as a result of my “completed service”

Their final reaponse claimed I could esculate the issue to an independent complaints handler and provided the company that they are registered with to do this.... followed with a statement claiming they reserve the right to refuse to participate in the case - Great complaints proceedure there!

In all in, absolutely appalling and I will be taking them to a small claims court
