i very rarely give reviews but on this occasion thought Velfac deserve one. I read the last review from Juno (6 days ago) which is thorough and typical of my experience. We have just finished installation on our first full self build and we have already received literally dozens of positive comments from friends, neighbours and even passers by. They look stunning.
We first had a serious conversation with Velfac nearly two and a half years ago but were dogged with delays on planning and numerous other problems. We received I think in total six variations on our quotes as we were required to modify the spec for planning, engineering and SAPS. I did spend many hours checking and re checking the detail as the tolerances are tight, particularly on larger units - we had one 5m wide. I engaged one of their approved installers at an early stage in the build - David Chappell Design, Wellington, Somerset and for a small site survey fee, covering travel costs, I received really helpful advice and unlimited phone support as installation time approached.
Importantly, I have never, at any stage, had any problem with getting prompt help and guidance from both Velfac and David Chappell. The one possible negative point on these windows is the requirement to complete external render BEFORE installation. So this has to be high quality - consistent and the agreed thickness. As we suffered badly from the harsh winter this year, this delayed completion of the exterior and put our installation back several months, holding the whole project up. That said, the finished result was well worth waiting for.
In summary, I would not hesitate to use Velfac again. Price I thought was excellent in comparison with similar quality products. Customer service was prompt and well informed. The cost of using an approved installer, is in my opinion well worth it for the finish and peace of mind with the installation guarantee.
I have heard that lead times are slow at the moment but should improve following a change of software. In any case, 12 weeks isn't long given the forward planning and preparation that most customers will be immersed in.
