Trust your instincts and give this company a miss

Their cheap prices tempted me to switch but after experiencing the sheer clunky incompetence of their website and sign-up process I quickly cancelled the switch and ran back to my old provider.

The website is embarrassing, I can't log in and get a message that they "could not locate an online account with this email address" despite the fact I signed up with it and they are sending me emails. Bad vibes all around and I can only imagine what they would be like to deal with if you have any serious customer service issues. Run away!

2kW vertical electric radiator - absolute junk

I bought the Anthracite Electric Vertical Designer 2kW radiator in December and it was absolute junk. The elements didn’t connect to wifi, the inbuilt thermostats varied by up to 5C day to day, and worst of all the radiator barely got up to 700W on full blast – a fraction of the advertised 2000W. I tried four different elements and did repeated "forced heating" tests using my smart meter, and I never got more than about 700W of heating out of them. As a result I spent a winter with a bedroom that couldn’t get above about 19C and I eventually had to return the radiators, leaving eight holes in my wall from the brackets.

Enormous hidden costs that are sneakily obscured

The ticket buying process displays a low price right up into the final final payment screen, when enormous fees and tax are quietly added in (with the final price not visible on my phone layout without scrolling). This increased the cost by ~50% and I only found this when my credit card bill came in. Screw these shysters

Your own personal algorithm!

Don't fall for any of the 'personal shopper' advertising, this is just another online clothes shop. Like all the other ones it uses algorithms to try to work out what it thinks it can make you buy, based on your responses to questions, the items you look at, and cluster analysis. More insidiously, Thread sends you all sorts of 'helpful' emails with style tips ("Spring fashion essentials!", "The ten most common espedrille mistakes"), which are primarily designed to make you feel bad about the clothes you already have - which are fine - and make you so insecure about your wardrobe that you'll buy some of the new stuff they recommend.

Trying to charge me for energy used by the subsequent tenants

I moved into a flat for a month and took over a Bulb energy account from the previous tenants. When I moved out of the flat, the new tenants took over the Bulb account from me, and used about a month's worth of energy before switching to another supplier. Bulb is trying to bill me for energy that I used, plus the month's worth of energy used by the tenants who came after me. I have repeatedly asked for a bill for the month I was in the flat, and they keep sending me a bill for two months of energy use. Meanwhile they have not sent a bill to the tenants who followed me into the flat and are threatening with debt collectors. It's gone way beyond a simple misunderstanding and I will be reporting their shady practice to the Ombudsman as soon as the mandatory eight week waiting period is over.

Boxes battered & TV broken

Pick up and delivery were on time - great. However my boxes were pretty beat up when they arrived in and I just discovered that my TV has a big crack in the screen from where one of the sides got smashed, despite it being heavily padded in it's box. Because I didn't discover this within seven days of delivery Packlink won't do anything about it. Thanks Packlink.
