Appalling Customer Service
Before I write this review I would like to say I wish there was a zero star option.
This is my personal experience of Villa Plus and I am so angry that I sent a letter by recorded mail to the Managing Director Raj Mavani expressing my dissatisfaction. As of today's date I am still waiting for a reply.
I have attempted to contact this appalling company on numerous occasions regarding our booking with them to Majorca in July 2021. The phone lines are NEVER answered and disconnect after one has been waiting for 20 minutes or more.
I have also emailed this company on several occasions explaining our situation, which I will detail below shortly. The responses I have received are very short and to the point, look like they have been cut and pasted by a child and do not at all take into consideration an individual’s personal circumstances. During these email exchanges, I have asked for someone to call me on my mobile or home telephone number; disappointingly I have yet to receive a phone call.
We booked a villa with this company for 11 people; the main reason being we would have been having Canadian friends staying with us who would then join us in visiting beautiful Spain. The Canadian lady is severely disabled due to a stroke (which was caused by a tumour on her heart - one of only 9 people in Canada at the time). She is in the extremely vulnerable group and therefore cannot travel without having had both vaccinations. Unfortunately, Canada’s vaccination programme is not as efficient as the UK’s and neither of the party has yet received their first vaccination. Hence they will not be travelling to the UK this year.
During the email exchanges with who I would loosely call company representatives, I have requested that the booking for the 11 of us is moved to exactly the same date in 2022, by which time our Canadian friends would have been vaccinated. Also there are much younger members of the party who will not have had their first vaccination by our holiday date. After explaining this to the representative I was advised that ‘it is not possible to move the holiday to 2022’.
I have been advised by email (because they don't want to be contacted by telephone) that in order to receive a refund of our deposit of £2178.00 we would have to pay the balance of £5302.00 and meet a list of Villa Plus criteria.
I appreciate that our booking may not meet this company’s list of refund criteria. However, I have respectfully asked that in these unprecedented times, this company refunds our deposit as a goodwill gesture.
All I have received is cut and paste emails, requests for us to pay the balance and no reply as yet from the MD.
I am disgusted that this company refuses to assist their customers in this World Pandemic. Disgraceful.
Update on 19/04/21 - please see below smug reply from Villa Plus. I must also at this point add that at no point have I spoken to a 'representative' from Villa Plus and this morning I have received a cancellation invoice so this dispicable company has £2178.00 of our hard earned money:
Hi Deborah,
Thank you for your e-mail.
Your booking with us is currently due to go ahead, and whilst we are sorry to hear that your friends may not be able to travel to the UK, it does not affect our ability to provide the holiday as booked.
Your deposit with us is used to book your flights with the airline, these flights are non-refundable. Furthermore, we do make it clear during the booking process that the deposit is non-refundable.
Due to these reasons we wouldn’t be able to refund your deposit or booking at the moment.
We have e-mailed you with the list of circumstances in which you would be due a refund should your booking be impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, this would require the booking to be paid in full, rather than cancelled, in order for you to be protected.
We have also advised you that we would be able to amend your booking to a later date should you wish to do so.
It is important to point out that you booked this holiday during the height of a pandemic, therefore whilst these are unusual times, you booked your holiday the pandemic was still very much at large.
Update 23 April. So villa plus has now automatically cancelled our holiday and kept the deposit. Note, we asked to move our holiday to the same time in 2022, NOT TO A LATER DATE which did not suit us.
Update 14th May 2021.
The letter which I sent registered post to the MD and had clearly been read by someone at Villa Plus as it was acknowledged in one of their cut and paste replies, has been sent back to me. This company is unbelievable. My next step is to do as others have done and go to the small claims court. These jokers cannot be allowed to get away with this.
