A Deeply Disappointing Experience with Much Better Adventures

I am incredibly disappointed with Much Better Adventures (MBA) for their complete lack of flexibility and empathy when it comes to my recent trip. Despite being a long-standing customer (this would have been my fourth trip), they chose to stick to their commercial decision because “they could,” disregarding the serious and dangerous situation unfolding in the Middle East.

When British Airways cancelled my flight just 24 hours before departure due to the significant risks of flying through an airspace threatened by ballistic missile activity from Iran, I naturally sought to postpone my trip. The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) guidelines focus on in-country safety, but it is negligent to discount the significant risk associated with flying into such a volatile region. MBA insisted on following these guidelines to the letter, ignoring the very real risks of the journey itself.

My situation was further complicated by a rare blood condition, which makes it difficult to claim on my travel insurance, a fact that was clearly communicated to MBA. Despite repeated appeals to consider these factors and the worsening situation, they coldly refused to allow any flexibility or postponement, leaving me £2,000 out of pocket.

To make matters worse, the majority of the 13 other attendees on this trip agreed with my assessment of the risks and felt that travelling to Jordan in the current climate was far too dangerous. Yet, MBA failed to do what any responsible company should: support its loyal customers in times of genuine concern. Their rigid stance, lack of understanding, and focus on profits over safety have left me and many others feeling deeply let down.

Sympathetic to all those affected in the Middle East right now, but MBA's approach is nothing short of disappointing. They are willing to put customers at risk because "they could," instead of doing what is right. I expected much better from a company I've trusted for years, and I sincerely hope they reconsider how they handle such situations in the future.

Challenge managed by a professional customer service team

I ordered my bike back in March for delivery and been advised that there are challenges with customs. Although I am disappointed that I haven´t received by Lemmo bike the customer service team have managed my issue extremely professionally.

We’ve put a lot of effort into bringing our brand to the UK, but the challenges of importing bikes outside the EU and the high costs of logistics have made it tough for us to deliver to UK customers quickly and affordably. We're currently working on setting up a retail network in the UK, so our bikes will soon be available both in-store and online across the country.

Very happy with our Moda Furnishings experience

Sales experience was easy and very efficient. Delivery date was agreed within days of my online order. Initial challenges with stock etc were managed very professionally by the Moda customer service team. The furniture is in place and myself and my family are very happy with our choice. The treatment worked so I went back for more

Needed to go back to the treatment that was supposed to be a one off cleanse but happy to do as I suspect my improvement in my histamine overload previously was due to the Nouveau Toxaprevent Medi plus and medi pure. I was also doing other things so time will tell. At this time I would definitely recommend this company and their products from my own experiences

Max-e-Biz supported my business to success

Was introduced to Max-e-Bix early 2020 when covid was taking hold, the support helped my business through quite difficult times. So impressed with the service that I went back when things got more back to normal to secure a formal agreement to manage our companies PPC. This included several campaigns across several services areas at locations either side of the United Kingdom. Together we were able to attain substantial growth and I couldn't recommend the service and support any more than what I do. Knowledge, strategic planning, great communication, ease to work with is all part of the package

Scam - AVOID

Bought a pair of shorts - not good quality. They then took £49 a few weeks later. I called said why they said it was part of their VIP membership which i never subscribed to. Refused to refund me and I had to buy a cheap waffle top to use the £49 - an absolute scam!

What a mistake we made choosing Lanai

28th April 2021
Today we received confirmation an order that was placed by Lanai yesterday to the Italian manufactures. No confirmation of acceptance of order from manufactures so rely on hope.

20th April 2021
Communication from Lanai advising that our new system has been ordered which will take 6 to 8 weeks from today. We have very mixed feelings on this as so many false promises by Lanai in the last 33 weeks. We have requested written confirmation between Lanai and Italian supplies that order has actually been made. When/If we receive such confirmation our stress levels will be eased.

11th April 2021
As insisted by myself, the head surveyor returned to conduct the second survey which proved that the whole building was incorrect, it was too long, not wide enough and disproportionately too high. He candidly admitted that serious errors had been made on his part. I have been told to expect an email from Lanai MD in the coming days with his offer for resolution.

08th April 2021
After having a local building surveyor out this morning to look at the structure that is part in place in our garden just to give me advice. His casual comment was that he thought the Lanai surveyor forgot to bring his tape measure when he surveyed the area! I now know why the companies T&C's stipulate 90% paid in advance of any installation. I have sent a further email to the MD as below and wait to hear back!

The problems that present themselves that in my opinion are too great in order for this building to be fit for purpose are:-
1) The manufacturer put the leg section in the wrong place - There is a work-around for this by them sending a new beam as outlined in Rob's email this morning. However, when will this beam be in place? Our delivery was 16 weeks behind schedule anyway and there is no sign of our building being up and usable.
2) Incorrect measurements being taken in terms of the beams being too long - On the face of it new beams then this problem should be resolved but my surveyor has doubts that the other elements will fit into place with the glass structures etc as they would have been made to original drawings.
3) Incorrect measurements being taken in terms of the building not being made wide enough. In the survey we agreed that the plinth would be the position of the one side of the building and the host wall the other, the measurement between these two area's are 2,900mm on the nearside and 3,000mm on the far side. The building is 2,750 which would leave a large gap between walls. In the email received from Rob this morning, it mentions "The wall closing profiles will be made slightly wider to accommodate the gaps either side above the plinth work". How can this happen and all the other aspects of the building work?

Midway through installation the team found faults that would result in our outdoor building would need to be taken down as it's been made incorrectly and of the wrong size in all directions. My wife and I are devastated with the situation!

The sales person called advising that a delivery date has been agreed and asked would I remove the public review that I placed the day before as it would affect sales. Her effort was quite pressurised which made me suspect that this was a tactic of the company to get negative reviews removed. I refused to remove this review but advised that I would update it was delivery and installation proceeded.

3rd March 2021
Made an official complaint about the sheer disregard for customer service. No communication from Lanai but constant broken deadlines and excuses. Constant chasing, thinking the company was a scam etc

Placed an order with Lanai Outdoor for a luxury outdoor building. We were advised that installation would take place in November but due to covid it was possible there would be a slight delay.

Dear Mr James,

Apologies that we have encountered a couple of issues with your installation.
There was an issue with the perimeter fencing position running out of line meaning the whole structure had to move forward slightly.
We assure you that our installers do not take “short cuts”
We have agreed to have the two gutter beams remade as the manufacturer had also incorrectly positioned a post fixing point – this will resolve this issue.
As soon as these issues were identified, we contacted our supplier and provided them with details of the parts that need remaking.
Our director is directly involved in this process to ensure we can turn this around as quickly as possible.
We have discussed the structure with our lead fitter and he assures us it is currently safe, the reason we could not dismantle yesterday was that we only had a team of two men on site yesterday and taking down such a large structure would have been a health and safety issue without a third team member present.
We have tried to be as flexible as possible, working around your other site works (blocking up window, having the patio laid, then deciding you would not be having the patio laid etc.) and have accommodated the changing installation dates the best we can in an extremely busy working diary.
We sent you over an email yesterday afternoon and another this morning with our proposal of how to rectify this situation but as of this morning we have no response.
We assure you that bringing your project to a mutually agreeable conclusion is the top of our list of priorities and we are sure you will be thrilled with the end product once completed.
