Some misleading information on Cosmetic Repair T's & C's

A recent application for a scuffed bumper repair was approved then refused on the day because it was a non-painted textured plastic surface. There was no mention of this restriction on the policy document I was given and I may have thought differently about buying it had there been so. I have recommended that the policy wording be updated or preferably accept this type of repair which is eminently possible.
All the staff understood my frustration and they handled the situation very friendly and professional way. My car is now being repaired by the main dealer as a goodwill gesture.

Be vigilant if using JMI

I am writing this review about a bathroom refurbishment done by JMI in December 2022. If you do not want to read the whole thing just be aware that if you are not technically minded you may be disappointed, especially if having a toilet fitted.
Only now have I discovered that the toilet was so badly installed that it has been leaking waste under my vinyl flooring since then, eventually leaking onto my carpet on the landing. A very competent plumber confirmed my diagnosis that the very expensive toilet pan was not even fixed to the wall, manufacturers instructions weren’t followed, and the cistern fitting was abysmal.
Despite a visit to the showroom and numerous phone calls I received zero communication from the so-called remedial team. In theory I could have cited the Consumer Rights Act but in the interests of expediency I had to get my plumber to refit everything properly. With new parts, flooring and labour (not including hours of my own labour) JMI has cost me well over £500.
On the positive side most of the workforce were excellent but there were many problems along the way such as:
Wrong design advice. Parts not ordered. Wrong parts fitted. Shower screen fitted upside down. Damaged shower seal. Wrong size extractor fan fitted. Plastered wall not vertical, much to the annoyance of the excellent tiler. Had the toilet not been such an issue I might have forgiven these inadequacies.
Bottom line is be vigilant and you may end up with a decent bathroom. Otherwise and you wont.

Survey stage needs improvement

The team that installed my Podpoint today were exceptional. They were professional, informative, tidy and friendly.
However, the initial remote survey relied heavily on detailed images and videos produced by the customer. I am quite technical so could cope but less informed people would struggle. I was getting quite anxious and nearly cancelled my order. My suggestion would be to have a proper survey up front. The Podpoint itself seems to have all the functionality I need.

We're sorry to hear that you found the pre-installation difficult.

At present we require all of our customers to complete the remote surveying process. In some cases, this would also mean going back and forth with images and added information; however, in certain cases a project manager may arrange for an engineer to do an on-site visit if the installation is deemed non-standard or somewhat complex

Pragmatic approach to insurance

Caravan Guard had a very pragmatic approach to the type of insurance I was looking for. No silly questions about unrealistic site security that would have turned a working holiday park into a locked compound rendering it virtually unusable.

Overall a good company

Overall a good company to deal with and I would use again. However, I did not appreciate the rather abrupt typed notice on my package informing me that returning it may incur a restocking fee. I believe this statement should be re-worded to comply with the CRA.
