Senior Protection Policy…does not protect families!

This is brief as this is not the only avenue tried to get Scottish Widows to act/reply or even acknowledge the process is floored/slow and downright disrespectful to the family remaining.

It concerns a Senior protection policy

96 year old Nan passed away on the 14th December. Scottish Widows emailed the funeral home to state there was no policy despite family members having already spoken to their bereavement team and a policy number being given that related to all future correspondence/claims.

To date my nans eldest son is still no further being asked to jump through further hoops. He is 74 and being asked to attend a local banking branch to converse with paperwork submissions which is not an easy feet when you don't drive and live alone (now) in a county 2 hours drive away from surviving family.

From the moment Scottish Widows failed to acknowledge my Nan’s wishes of it being less of a burden to the family which is what sold the policy to her in the first place and for some unbeknown reason they don’t settle funeral arrangements directly with the organiser is the main sticking point. The process is so long winded due to delays created by Scottish Widows that the family will be paying for the funeral to occur as we cannot stand to think of my Nan in a undertakes fridge for any longer.


If you read this and are considering Scottish Widows i would say DON’T there are far better examples of how to treat customers/customers families after a very upsetting loss.

Difficult to speak to someone

Difficult to speak to someone. Item ordered missing on the online returns but is on the paper receipt. The online chat portal is difficult to use and no answer obtained. Still waiting on the email promised to resolve the issue.

>>>UPDATE 2.5 hours now been going with an email exchange! Still no resolve BLOOMING ridiculous

Fast, friendly and informative

Called the company at 9.10 after not being able to get in due to the door handle jamming. 20 minutes later Vadim (an employee from a third party company VK Locksmiths Services) appeared he had a lovely friendly demeanour, very informative about what's happened to the door to cause the issue and gained access to my home quickly. He then promptly changed the faulted part and left a receipt. Highly recommended!
