Review of Zzoomm Full Fibre broadband

Zzoomm by name, but not by nature.…

I’ve been with BT for many years and probably would have stayed with them were it not for a pop up Zzoomm tent in Hereford and a likeable chap named Andrew Meldrum who convinced me that switching to Zzoomm was an easy and cost effective process that would save me money. As I was nearing the end of my BT contract I decided to switch. A date was given and a time agreed.
Roll forward to today, the agreed date. Expected Zzoomm at 0800hrs so by 0930hrs I was wondering where they were. I had received a short txt message stating they were running late, and were very sorry.
I decided to ring Zzoomm as I had plans for the afternoon and needed an ETA from them. I spoke to ‘Morgan’ on the phone (after a 15 min wait in the queue)and she said she’d chase it up with the engineers. I was put on hold. Five minutes later she stated that, regretfully due to sickness, my appointment would have to be rescheduled. I told her that if I hadn’t of contacted Zzoomm I would have been none the wiser and would have waited in all day. What a shambles. Andrew had promised so much more so I really didn’t expect this.
I can only review my experience of Zzoomm. Given its favourable TrustPilot rating I expected better.
After writing this review I received a phone call from Zzoomm. Very apologetic and offering me compensation in the form of a free month of Broadband. I’ve tentatively agreed, and if things work out, will adjust my TrustPilot rating accordingly. But at the moment I’m just frustrated and angry and in hindsight, perhaps should have remained with BT and tried to negotiate a better contract.
Update: I have now been informed by email from Michael Jones-Boyce that my rescheduled appointment for next week has had to be cancelled. To be fair I didn’t expect anything else.

Super Spudos!

First time purchase (Dragon’s Den bundle). A bit of a shot in the dark, as I have my favourite crisps and have bought them for years, but given that packet sizes have shrunk to 25g, I’m finding it difficult to justify all the plastic for what amounts to a handful of crisps in each bag, so thought I’d try out this relatively new company. First impressions;
1. From ordering to receiving the crisps took 2 days, which I cannot fault
2. Excellent packaging, with everything neatly packed away inside a sturdy box.
3. Paper bags inside to mix the crisps with any of the 8 assorted flavours (environmentally friendly, like it👍)Ok, you get a plastic tub to keep the crisps fresh but I can reuse that again and again.
4. My wife and I agree these are excellent quality crisps, perfect consistency, not too greasy.
So all in all a very positive experience. Perhaps going forwards the company could offer some kind of loyalty bonus ie after buying 10 boxes you get one free, or something similar? Just a thought.That aside, I will be purchasing from Spudos again. I think these crisps would also make a perfect gift for anyone who is a crispaholic like me👍👍

Excellent customer service

I ordered my Specialized Diverge Elite through Cycles UK as it was listed at a competitive price. The bike was delivered free of charge and in good time. However the front disc was rubbing. I rang “Matt” at Cycles UK (Matthew Walker/Ops Manager). The issue with the front disc was resolved at my LBS, and the cost refunded by Cycles UK. I’m happy to recommend this company to anyone toying with the idea of buying a bicycle on line. I had my reservations but ultimately was delighted with the outcome.

Sick of the emails…

I’ve entered Rev Comp competitions periodically over several years. I like the format and unlike some other reviews I don’t doubt the honesty of the draw process. However what does bother me is that I’m bombarded with emails from the company to the point that I blocked Rev Comps, but somehow the emails still get through. It became such a pain in the arse that I hardly enter the draws any more. Update; so now they are texting me ffs.

Adria UK-Aweful customer service

Bought a second hand Adria Adora Thames Platinum (2017) three years ago. On its first AWS service a major damp issue was highlighted in the bathroom area. Long story short, it took me over a year for Highbridge caravans and Adria to both decide this could be fixed under the 10yr Adria water ingress policy. Both parties tried everything to wriggle out of their obligations. Trust me, the Adria warranty isn’t worth the paper it’s written on. In September this year, guess what? The service report again highlighted a damp issue in the bathroom. Leighton Grant (Customer care manager -Highbridge Caravans, Somerset) referred me to Adria UK. They subsequently refused to do the work under warranty because if you read the tiny print the warranty lasts only 7yrs if ownership is transferred.
Adria caravans and Highbridge that supply them just want your money. Customer care manager? What a joke. Read the reviews on here.Don’t touch this dealership or Adria caravans. I guarantee that like me, you’ll regret it.

Review of Proofvision

Poor customer service

I had a new bathroom installed in 2021. Along with the bathroom I had installed a Proofvision toothbrush charger (single).This has now completely packed up. The wiring is good and there is power to the charger. So after around 30 months of light use it has given up the ghost. I contacted Proofvision (Venita) just to see if they would do me a discount on a new unit. The warranty is only for 2yrs and I was outside of that but i nevertheless thought it was a reasonable request. No such luck. I wouldn’t recommend these chargers. I think it’s a bit hit and miss as to whether you get one that lasts any length of time. In addition I don’t think the customer service from Proofvision is any good. I believed mine was a reasonable request. I wasn’t looking for a free replacement at the end of the day. I’ve given 2 stars instead of one because at least the company replied to me same day, albeit they declined to help.

Not the best start….

My wife and I decided that for a change we’d pop into our local Miller & Carter in Hereford for a steak. It was 5pm on a Friday so pretty quiet. Good start, we got a nice table by the window. The waitress offered us the wine selection. I chose the Cloudy Bay. Five minutes later she returned. No Cloudy Bay. So I made another selection, and yes, you guessed it, 5 minutes later, back she came. “Sorry”. We’d ordered Chateaubriand as a treat. The waitress returned. “There’s a 45 minute wait, as you ordered it medium /well done”. I guess I got a little bit frustrated and just said “forget it”. The manager (Dave) then appeared. He was basically the reason we stayed (and would return). Smartly dressed young chap, excellent at diffusing the whole situation. I suggested that the waitress perhaps should have known that certain wines weren’t available (it’s not an extensive list after all). This would have saved us waiting 10 minutes for our wine. He agreed, and said he would address the situation going forward. Bottom line: the food was excellent, our 3rd choice wine surprisingly nice, and a negative became a positive hence the 4 stars. I believe the Grill chef was “Rob”, so a big thank you to him. Finally I noted on the bill that Dave had not charged us for the wine. A lovely gesture. I ended up tipping (I wasn’t planning to given our initial poor start) but ultimately we enjoyed the food and the evening. Well done Dave.

Review of Admiral Insurance

Excellent Service from Admiral

I took out my travel insurance policy with Admiral insurance primarily because of their positive reviews. I decided at 58 years old that my wife and I should invest in a platinum policy to cover the year ahead. Long story short, I had to go into hospital 2 days prior to travel and we lost our holiday. Both of us were naturally quite upset. I’ve never had to make a claim on travel insurance, and thought it might be a bit daunting. It wasn’t! I completed the relevant forms online along with supporting documentation and within a few weeks Admiral confirmed everything was in order and reimbursed me the total cost of the holiday minus a small excess. This has been a pain free process at what was a difficult time for me. I continue my recovery and look forward to booking a replacement holiday once I’m 100%. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Admiral travel insurance. I will now, upon renewal, be looking at house and car insurance with them as I understand they give discounts for multiple policy holders.

Review of BOLLSEN Hearing Protection

Not for me!

I bought 3 sets of Bollsen earplugs on the 14/3/24. Two to be used at home and at our caravan and one set for swimming. Total: £66.90. I’ve waited til now to give an honest and fair review. The bottom line is that they are useless and a complete waste of money. Cheap, tacky plastic, that isn’t fit for purpose. DON’T waste your money. I stupidly thought that at over £20 a pop they must be good. I’m now nearly £70 out of pocket and have reverted to the silicone earplugs you can pick up in Superdrug for around £4.95 for a pack of 6. Far better at a fraction of the price. UPDATE…..Having been in touch with Bollsen Customer Service, I was instructed to return the earplugs immediately. I sent the package by 1st class mail Saturday and fully refunded on Monday. Their communication was excellent and the refund immediate. I guess these earplugs may work for some people, just not for me.

Rolex Deepsea 2022 (D-Blue) Brand new.

I’ve been after a Rolex Deepsea (D-blue) since I retired 3yrs ago. Difficult to source so I went on an AD’s waiting list. Then I saw Brothers in Time UK online. They had the exact model (2nd Gen) that I was after. Brand new and at a very reasonable price. I was nervous about purchasing such a high value watch privately. I shouldn’t have been. Giuseppe & Eren drove to my house with the watch. They sized it for me, answered my questions and just came across as two genuine guys who love what they do. I can’t recommend them enough. I’d also be happy to answer anybody’s questions if they have any reservations. Read all the reviews. I did. There’s not one bad one amongst them. Finally to Eren and Giuseppe, a massive thanks from both myself and my wife Angie.

Benchmarx Kitchens & Joinery in Hereford

We’d been looking for a kitchen at a reasonable price for some time. All but given up, but thought we’d try Benchmarx Kitchens & Joinery in Hereford. My wife and I went in and spoke with Gavin. We explained the problems we’d had to date trying to source a reasonable kitchen at a fair price. Long story short, he listened, he explained what we could have, but also gave us his opinions on what would work best. We went ahead with the kitchen. No regrets whatsoever. The guy is a credit to Benchmarx. My wife is over the moon with her new kitchen. Thoroughly positive experience with a young man who had all the answers and knows his job inside out.

I recently ordered a high end Mountain Equipment Goretex Jacket for my wife. Outdoor clothing.co.uk offered the best deal although I was a little bit concerned given some of the negative reviews I had read.
The jacket arrived on time, and I’ve had no issues whatsoever. I’d happily order from them again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.

Avoid.

Having read the mainly positive reviews I ordered a print on Monday 23rd May 2022, and paid the additional £5.99 postage in order to receive it by close of play Wednesday (Royal Mail 24hr delivery). It’s now 1pm Thursday 26th May and still no print.
Requested refund via email as this was a present I intended to present today. No response from the company to date.
Shambles really. I would advise to stay clear. I’ve subsequently received an email telling me the print is on its way (via 48hr Royal Mail!).
I’ll keep you posted as to how my request for a refund pans out…I’m not holding my breath.)

Disappointed!

After reading Millys Store’s excellent reviews I placed an order for a Waterford vase, an intended birthday gift. The item was advertised at a competitive price on their website.
A week passes and nothing, not even an email. So I email the company to query what is going on. Several hours later I get a phone call from the chap in charge who says sorry, but we don’t have the item that we clearly advertised, and again sorry for not letting you know.
Not good enough. You can’t run a business advertising stock you haven’t got and not keeping your customers informed. Management need to get a grip.
On the plus side, John Lewis have the item in stock albeit £10 more expensive, but then at least it’s real!
