Friendly and trustworthy business
I have just taken delivery of a Canon 5d Mark iii with a generic battery grip, which arrived in a wonderfully protective amount of bubble-wrap, and well- padded so the goodies could not move around in the delivery box. Unfortunately the grip seemed defective out of the box, so I made a short phone call to check out a potential problem and had a useful chat with the Wex rep/photographer, in case I subsequently needed a replacement. Two days later, after considerable testing, I needed the replacement and I needed it fast: another helpful phone conversation and the replacement grip was on its way. Now all is well.
I have bought my camera gear from Wex, and its earlier incarnation Warehouse Express, since 2004, while my husband has used them for longer and we recommend them to anyone who asks where to buy a camera. The website is easy to use and, if you need advice, there are lovely staff at the end of the phone who know their stock and how to give customer support. However, it is in the packaging and delivery of expensive and vulnerable items that they excel. We live in N Ireland and dependable delivery matters, particularly protective packaging not just a bit of padding and a box to write the delivery address on!
Wex are competitive in price, but not always cheapest especially when compared with sellers dealng in grey merchandise. On one occasion I did buy a Canon 70-300mm lens from Amazon and was appalled when it arrived by Courier in a badly crushed box, which meant I had to refuse delivery. I refused a replacement and gladly paid more for a dependably safe delivery from Wex!
This is not the first time I have had a problem with camera gear and got helpful advice from Wex. They do not have the defensive attitude of some retailers who see an enquiry about a possible manufacturers fault as a criticism of their own business, Wex understands consumer rights and is a good practitioner.
Use them, they run a major on-line business with corner-shop friendliness and commitment to create satisfied customers!
