Buying a Package deal obviously doesnt mean that
I have used opodo happily for quite a few years without any issues but that as they say is when you find out just how a company values its customers, For a birthday treat myself and four friends booked a package deal through Opodo booking both flights and hotel accomodation at a cost of over £5000, all ok until we arrived at the Harrahs casino where we were forced to pay upfront for city taxes totalling over £800 before we would be allowed our rooms, after a 10 hour flight and as I had organised the trip I footed the bill and planned to reclaim back from Opodo on our return thats when the issues started, when initially booking I registered with the Opodo prime site and if you are not registered with this good luck in ever getting in touch with any customer services !! even with access to the Opodo prime you are greeted with autobot and it is difficult to get to speak to an actual human when I did thats when the real issues started, firstly I dealt with a chap who's first language unfortunately wasnt english and the phone connection would probably have been better with two tin cans and a piece of string but I persisted and I thought I had got my complaint across and was instructed that I was to contact Harrahs hotel and get copies of the receipts for all of the rooms concerned for the city taxes, later I received a confirmation email from Opodo thanking me for contacting them and telling me that they will be raising the change of my flights with the Airline concerned I decided to wait until I received the receipts from Harrahs before chasing up which I did only to be greeted by another terrible phone connection and another customer service rep whos first language was definately not english but I persisted and explained again their error with the initial complaint and that I would be sending them copies of the receipts from the casino and that I would like a response to my complaint as soon as possible this response was received a couple of days later which basically read that the issue I had was with the casino hotel eventhough I had paid upfront with Opodo and that I need to raise the matter with them and that was the end of the matter as far as they were concerned, needless to say I will never use Opodo again and have cancelled the Opodo prime subscription.
**UPDATE***
Received a reply from the opodo help desk and basically Opodo stated that as a customer I was informed that I would be responsible for non refundable resort fees for over $317 per room for 3 rooms, this is not something that was ever mentioned or highlighted when booking and that Opodo accept no responsibility for the extra charges imposed at the point of checking in as "edreams acts as an intermediary between hotel and customer and that they are bound by their T+C's" so as I have origionally stated the package deal price you are given by Opodo is not necessarily the actual price will end up paying which is tantamount to false advertising in my opinion enticing customers by promising the cheapest deal when it is quite clearly not the case.
