Sneaky Fees, Heartless Customer Service..…
I rang Dial Direct last month (Oct) to inform them I was scrapping my car as it failed the mot and was too much too repair. I noticed yesterday (Nov) my direct debit payment went from my bank after I was told it would be cancelled.
I rang them today to explain that the D/D has gone out and was confused as the policy was cancelled last month. They had no recollection of a call being made to cancel my car insurance. I have paid 10 months out of 12 and hoped to get a small refund for the month I didn't use. Instead I was bluntly told I owe them money (cancellation fee) and I would not be refunded November's D/D that went out of my bank. I have basically paid them a month's free insurance for a car that I no longer own and has been scrapped!!
When I explained that usually I get refunded if I have paid the majority of the years policy, I was snapped at and told if I don't make a card payment now (cancellation fee) I would incur further charges.
I feel like I've been scammed. I understand there is a cancellation policy, but all the other companies I have used in the past have always refunded me if I have paid over the odds, sadly not this company.
I won't be giving them my custom in the future. 35 mins waiting to speak to a human was also frustrating.
