The total at the end of the purchase is more than the listed air fare.

Fares fees need to be more transparent. At the end ofvthe purchase the total is not what was selected. Dealing with low cost carriers like Peach in Japan was distasteful and I had to arrange my luggage to be transported by a courier, as the luggage fee was not included, but I paid extra for that.
