Rigid tests don’t reflect real interpreting
TransPerfect’s interpreting assessments rely on a rigid scoring cutoff (76%) that doesn’t match the reality of live interpreting. Even their own interviewers acknowledge that in practice, getting the message across matters more than recalling an exact term. Unfortunately, the company’s system prioritizes checkbox conformity instead of communication.
TransPerfect is a large name in translation, but their interpreting side feels underdeveloped. The process comes across as bureaucratic rather than professional: rigid testing, constant hiring, and an emphasis on rules over clarity.
I also noticed their 1.6 TrustPilot rating. At first that surprised me, but my experience of the process aligns with that score — it suggests systemic misalignment between their procedures and what interpreting actually requires.
💡 Coach’s Comment: If a company is always hiring but seasoned interpreters keep slipping through, that’s a system problem, not a talent problem. Interpreting is about clarity, nuance, and human connection — not just ticking glossary boxes. Interpreters: don’t let a percentage shake your worth. Companies: if strong candidates keep slipping through, it may be time to rethink the rubric.
Used RIPS. No Payment Distribution
I was hired to write a user guide for a Roche acute diagnostic medical device. Editors loved my work and it was accepted after quality review July 10, 2025. I submitted my purchase order to their "rapid" invoice processing system, RIPS and have been waiting ever since for notification that my paycheck was mailed out. I am waiting on $1,995 for my work. I need it now to pay back a high interest loan I had to take out to pay my bills. It is a horrible sinking feeling to do quality work and not get paid. I am praying that someone who can help me responds here. My name is Sarah McLeod.
Just finished a task where they are…
Just finished a task where they are wanting to pay 1500 once done I entered my bank info and got a vat code i than contacted the bank they work with and was told I need to pay 200 usd to withdraw my funds: and the person I spoke to thought I caught a attitude once I said y wasn’t I informed I needed to pay at the beginning
They treat translators as garbage
They treat translators as garbage, so it's no wonder that the output quality is as low as hell. How could you expect to receive a good translation if you do everything to demotivate the performers? Their PMs are rude and barely read the emails when you signal a problem or anything. They simply ignore you. Also, their tasks or "submissions" become unavailable in milliseconds after you receive them. They say that you "just need to be fast" but, men, what kind of professional translator would accept the job offer without even familiarizing themselves with what they are about to work on??? Also, there's a suspicion that some of their "professional translators" are using some kind of autoclickers, because it's simply impossible that tasks disappear from the platform in less than a second.
Considering all this mess, it's no wonder that they deliver trash instead of legit translations.
Fully legit Translation Agency
I've been providing translation and MTPE services to TransPerfect since 2011. Like any other translation agency, they have their issues, but they always pay what it being agreed to. The reviewers who say that they were asked to send a payment to TransPerfect were obviously defrauded by individuals who falsely identified themselves as TransPerfect's recruiters or employees. TransPerfect uses their HUB and special web portals for accessing the jobs and submitting invoices. When a project manager from TransPerfect contacts you, they always have "transperfect.com" after their name and @ in the email address. Also, they will always send a Purchase Order with all the details about the job, rates, their address, PO number, due dates and link for submitting your invoices. They're not fraudulent. Due to the urgency of some translation projects, it can happen that a project manager hires you and hours later, informs you that the job has been assigned to another vendor. Occasionally, they may experience minor delays and payment processing issues; however, they will never request an upfront payment from their vendors or fail to send the payment to their vendors. They utilize PayPal and checks that can be redeemed at any conventional bank. They're not perfect, and there's no such thing as a "perfect" translation agency, but they are reliable and honest. A vendor can also negotiate a better price or reject a job if the offered fee is not acceptable. TransPerfect doesn't "punish" such vendors and continues to hire them or offer them other jobs on a regular basis.
❌ Fraudulent Experience
❌ Fraudulent Experience – Not Recommended
I completed a project with professionalism and dedication. When it came time to receive payment, I was told I had to deposit $50 as a “requirement” to unlock the funds. This condition was never mentioned beforehand. After completing the work, I received no payment, and it became clear this was a scam.
⚠️ Don't fall for these kinds of schemes. If you're asked to pay to get paid, it's a red flag.
I'm sharing this so others don’t go through the same experience.
TRANSPERFECT is not legit and doesn’t pay
I did my project on TRANSPERFECT and now for my salary they keep referring me to different people and telling me to deposit a certain amount to get my salary
Not a good company I will not refer a person to work with, very bad experience I came across
DataForce by TransPerfect is a very…
DataForce by TransPerfect is a very disorganized company. They had wanted us to do onboarding, training, and production all within the first week. Also, they didn't really take into account any technical difficulties one may have had in attempting to access for example, LMS Training. Emails sent to HR, IT, or LMS Support would lead to Microsoft Outlook either rejecting the delivery of the email or a TransPerfect employee will send an email stating that one is not allowed access to make LMS requests or General Inbox requests. They expected us to annotate fourteen audio recordings in an hour after being trained for one week. In order to do that, one would have to do 4 annotations in a minute, which is impossible. Note, I had difficulty accessing LMS Training. The Cardamom project only last for about 2 months. When I received the termination email, I was told simultaneously that I did not meet their unrealistic and unreasonable productivity goals and that at the same time, the decision to terminate my employment had nothing to do with my skills and qualifications as a employee. It is also telling that I was terminated a day before I had scheduled to take a day off. Do not work for DataForce and do not work for TransPerfect. They have no integrity.
GARBAGE.
The job itself is quite simple.
However don't expect them to pay you. They've left me waiting for 4 weeks for a final pay that they refuse to deposit even with the employment standards branch on it, claiming lie after lie with how suddenly your bank that they've been paying you through previously, "won't accept the deposit" and then they "stop trying."
So just a nice way of them saying "GFY" after writing out an entire contract that you and they all sign stating their pay to you when you start, they full out refuse to pay.
DO NOT EVEN ATTEMPT TO APPLY I BEG YOU!!! THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF
Transperfect - Not recommended to work with
Not recommended to work with. The left doesn't know what the right is doing, they are unstructured and their support is extremely slow, wasting your time. Then you get thrown out of a project as a result. Very amateurish company and what also has a poorly paid but great wish list.
Very bad expirience
I was in deep stress because of them. They are fishing freelancers, l was manipulated to translate many pages. When the time of payment comes, they push you in a way to register in a bad bank environment ,so as to bye a special code to get your money.Evil persons behind. It is really the company.

Prides itself on dedication to its clients does not extend the same professionalism and respect to candidates’ time
After two interviews and a lengthy writing assessment, I reached out for an update on the position, but the HR representative was unable to provide any information. Despite my polite follow-ups, two months passed without a response. It’s disappointing when a company that prides itself on dedication to its clients does not extend the same professionalism and respect to candidates’ time. A simple update—whether positive or negative—would have been appreciated.

If you want to pay to work transperfec is your best option scammers
and if I am the same as in the previous review
Marta Geller Forro contacts me again saying that they are going to pay me through PayPal but she sends me a contract that I have to sign in order to get my money in which I am going to pay a 200usd insurance anyway, they don't understand that I don't have or no one is going to have or want to give that amount of money for what? So that they pay them
If I want my money for a job done and that they themselves approved as successful, I must pay and even if they say that they will give me back the insurance money, who in their right mind is going to pay to work
So that they give you something that they tell you is already yours and they wash their hands saying then you give up your payment
Not wanting to pay Not wanting to pay until I pay insurance so they can pay me is such a huge idiocy that I don't know how they can maintain themselves as a company. I think they do that to their own employees.
They have 0 professionalism.
PS: There was an advisor who tried to help me and was kind to me but the only options he gave me were to pay the insurance so they would pay me. I know that's the only thing I could do and it was in his hands. I hope he gets out of that horrible place and finds a better job where they don't do evil to people.
PS2: And even if they tell me to give up my "payment" and I made them a free transcription, I hope that the idiot who keeps my money does better than me because he must be in greater need than me.

Pay a vat code or we don't pay you
They supposedly paid me, they made me register on a strange bank page where the customer service is terrible.
When I wanted to transfer my money to my bank account, they asked me for a vat code. When I did that job, no one mentioned that I needed one. The customer service person on the page told me that I had to pay 200 USD (5000 MXN) in my local currency.
Which I don't have and I don't plan to pay more than what the job was going to give me. when I told the situation to a certain nikishima and if they could make my payment through paypal she told me that it was not possible that I should listen to customer service and pay the fee for the vat and blocked me
and a certain martha galler ferro who is supposed to be my manager told her the situation and she only told me that I should not be afraid that this is the process and I should pay I am not afraid what I have is lack of money that is why I am doing a job so that I get paid not for me to pay even if they say they are going to return them to me if I am only a freelancer dying of hunger from a third world country what the hell do I have the need to want to have a vat code just transfer my money to paypal and let's leave the games,
ps: I told a friend who is a freelancer he has a vat code I entered it on the page and even then it didn't work

My name is Enama Alice and I live in Germany I did a translation job for you within the PROJECTFILE300VY Federal Grants, I have to deliver it within 5 days requirement that I respected, but for the payment a so called Mr Tondera told via telegram made first paid 100 for insurance fees what I did via paypal after numerous different tag, not a normal way according to me, but now he keep telling me to add exchange rate of 150 usd to receive my full payment and I don't really understand why I have to deal with exchange rate.
