A new twist on customer care and service.
Despite the wide range of mattresses on their website, this company has the same owner as Slumberland, so expect to not be given any choice but Slumberland. Despite stating clearly (to a native English speaker) we wanted a medium mattress and were not sure if pocket spring or hybrid/composite mattress would be best, we were immediately shown to a Slumberland extra firm orthopaedic mattress and asked to try it. I had to push a bit to persuade the sales person to show us another, softer mattress, but it was still the same Slumberland mattress but in just firm, not medium as I had said. No others were suggested or shown to us. Because of a very nasty and smelly experience from another retailer a number of years ago, I tried to ask the assistant how long the display mattress had been unwrapped and on display. I got the impression that she did not understand, and I certainly could not understand what her supposed reply was, I think that she may have been on about delivery lead times. Fearing being branded as racist, I felt we had little option other than to buy the mattress offered and paid just short of £1000.
Then stared a string of emails confirming the purchase, stating what to expect etc. and all but demanding reviews. Eventually one came giving a delivery date and time of between 7am and 9am, saying if this was not convenient I should phone the delivery team. After hanging on for 20 minutes they had still not picked up the phone, so I contacted their customer (dis)service number who would/could do nothing to help. A 7am delivery meant that to give time to get the old mattress off the bed and out of their way, I had to be up very soon after 5am. As a retired pensioner, I felt that unreasonable, especially when they telephoned soon after 6.45am saying they would soon be with us.
I made my displeasure with the salespersons English communication skills and service very clear to the customers (dis)services call handler when I tried to change the delvery time..
Apart from the time, the delivery was absolutely fine.
Next an email all but demanding a review of the delivery, which I ignored, as I had done the others.
Then I got another rather hectoring email telling me how to look after the mattress and telling me to expect it to sag, but even so it would be perfectly acceptable. Talk about getting your excuses in first.
Now, today at lunchtime, 5/10/25 I get an automated telephone call demanding a review.
There must be other suppliers who actually try to help customers rather than giving the impression they are incentivised to sell a particular product and also know that personal recommendations are worth far more than easily faked online reviews, so my advice is to avoid at all costs and go elsewhere.

If those mattresses are only available in firm and extra firm, then why were we not shown other mattresses. I would point out that we did NOT even mention an orthopaedic mattress, that was the sales assistant's decision based on goodness knows what. I think she made a medical decision based on our use of waking sticks. I very much doubt that she was medically qualified to do that without an sort of discussion, but you can't have a discussion if one side has difficulty understanding what the other is saying. As per other poor reviews, ignoring much of the complaint and trying to blame the customer for poor customer service.
As I said, every indication of hidden incentives ot sell certain products.

I have always gone to this company to get a bed and I knew this would be the last purchase of me buying a bed. I had all the care fabric done. I had the waterproof sheet that came with it and the mattress was for my Nan and she had an accident in bed number one and now the mattress is not fitting correctly. I contacted them, a gentleman came out, very nice, and he said, oh yeah no I’ll write a good report and I’ve now found out. They pay them more to do a bad review and now my poor Nan has a bed over 5000 pounds under six months old and they won’t do anything. Stay away from this company and if they don’t replace the mattress, then we said we would go to civil court and now they are just ignoring me. They got my order wrong and they sent the wrong size of bed. They didn’t send the bottom of the bed. They didn’t even turn up on the delivery day and the workmen were so rude, so rude. Stay away from this company. I would rather have paid more for the mattress for the aftercare as I got told the treatment that was put on the mattress would give us the guarantee if anything was spilled on the mattress and now they are backtracking, so save the hassle and pay a little bit more and go somewhere else. I will never ever go back to this company, it’s such a shame. I am gonna take this further and they kept breaking their half of the contract that I signed for. They were trying to tell me that I owed more. I didn’t pay for delivery. I didn’t pay for taking the old bed away, which I did, so stay away from these cowboys completely. I just feel sorry for my Nan who paid 5000 and it’s under six months old.
