Customer service was excellent from the time we arrived until we checked out. The resort was beautiful. The staff was amazing. I literally felt like family with everyone there.
Great time was had until our departure when we unfortunately left something in our room. We realised when we got to the airport and contacted the hotel straight away. 5 days later and after numerous emails I still haven’t had a response, I know my item has been found so is now stolen not lost, this has ruined what was a lovely holiday.
I and my family got food poisoning there
Stay away uf u wish to keep urself and famiky safe

Just came back from Bahia Principe luxury Jamaica. We were celebrating our 20 anniversary. One of the best trips ever taken. Food was amazing, plenty of fresh seafood, shrimp, fresh fish. The jurk chicken was amazing. All food was the best we’ve had done south. About 10 times, 7 with Bahia Principe.
Rooms were super clean and service was great. Pools very clean . Shows were very good. If I had to nitpick I would say could have more shuttle services as the resort is still a big resort, especially if you’re in the adult only. But we’re able to get from lobby to wherever you needed to go. It was our first time but definitely not the last time.

Already planning to return next year!

The Bahia luxury Ambar is in my opinion is the best resort in the dominican Republic. The rooms are well kept and the housekeeping staff are amazing. I recommend getting a corner swim up room, a few extra dollars but well worth it. The entertainment team go above and beyond to keep you moving , special shout out to Maria for all her help and Marlene for never letting our drinks go empty while at our swim up room. We will definitely be returning for that spoiled attention 😊😊

Great hotel, high standard in activities and evening shows. Helpful staff, people working hard for your pleasure. If you want to do something in the outside area, then hire a car or taxi or go by bus. We have spent our time in the hotel mostly and that was all we needed. We love to go back sometime.

Very disappointed with the service we received at this hotel .
Our room was not cleaned properly with visible dirty marks on the floor.
I had to ask repeatedly on several occasions for clean towels to be brought to our room and when they finally did come their weren't enough.
Considering the amount of money paid for staying at this hotel my family were very dissatisfied and will not be returning to this hotel or recommending it to our friends and family.

Last day of our 14 day stay.
To start! ALL THE STAFF ARE EXCELLENT AND IN NO WAY DETRACTED FROM OUR STAY!
However, their heavy reliance on apps is a joke. Ordering food in the sports bar! QR code didn't work! Can't order from a menu.
Room service; ordered at 16.00 for delivery at 20.00 loads of messing around with AI and app the average food arrived at 22.15 (break out the rennies)
So called alacart restaurants have limited and bland menus. Service in the M.E.A.T restaurant was very poor, alacarte menu was an encapsulated A4 printed sheet; not conducive to a great dining experience (hardly the Ivy)
Many people we spoke with were of the same opinion regarding the alacarte dining.
We were very tired with the hotel and facilities after seven days . Nothing like when we stayed here six years ago!!
We were away for six hours a day playing golf which helped enormously.
We have decided to organise our future holidays ourselves on normal airlines and chain hotels. Also, bring your own sun tan lotion; we forgot ours and ended up paying 35$ us for a tube. No supermarkets nearby.
My main moan is the dependence on apps. Five star places don't tend to do this, McDonald's and fast food outlets do!!!

Worst hotel.
- not enough parking for guests with cars.
- do not accommodate requests.
- toilets flooded, had taken staff an hour to attend to flood.
- long queues to get into buffet restaurant; breakfast, lunch and dinner.
- when you do finally get into buffet, majority of food dishes are empty ; my kids literally had ice cream for DINNER.
- rooms are dated.
- showers have limescale and rust
- ceilings are leaking
- staff are ignorant
If you’re thinking of booking, I advise to look elsewhere.

I recently stayed at the Bahia Principe Hotel, and unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. The staff were extremely rude and unhelpful, making it difficult to enjoy my stay. The room was not cleaned properly, and the bed sheets were dirty, which is unacceptable for a hotel of this caliber. The service was also very poor, and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Save your money and stay elsewhere.

The most soulful, unforgettable hotel experience of our lives.
Cayo Levantado isn’t just a resort—it’s a sanctuary where nature, wellness, culinary art, and genuine human connection come together in the most magical way. From the moment we arrived, we felt held, seen, and inspired. Every corner of the island reflects beauty, intention, and sustainability—from the no-paper philosophy to the deeply personal service that never felt transactional.
The wellness center (Yubarta) was life-changing. From Florangel’s gentle sound healing to Mahalia’s Wim Hof-style breathwork and ice bath, and Claudia’s 25 years of wisdom in healing arts—every session left us more connected to ourselves. Special thanks to Ynette and Fran for making it all feel so intimate and welcoming.
Conuco offered a cultural deep dive. The “Music of the Plants” and Casabe workshops led by José and his colleague opened our eyes to nature’s intelligence and the island’s eco-conscious practices. Johnny’s quiet tech support made everything run smoothly.
The fitness facilities were energizing, especially thanks to coaches Juan, Faustina, and Hudson who brought great technique and joy to every class.
Now the food… wow. We’ve never had such consistently delicious, diverse, and thoughtful food at an all-inclusive. From ceviche to beautifully crafted desserts, each meal was memorable. Huge love to Johamar, Leopoldo, Elaine, Betty, Miguelina, Ingrid, and the chefs for creating not just meals, but moments.
Our room with ocean view was paradise—comfortable, beautifully designed, and made extra special with daily artisan gifts and attentive housekeeping. Thank you.
Ambassadors Rafaela and Kendri were incredible—checking in daily via WhatsApp, responding to every need with warmth and speed. Truly above and beyond.
Even the front desk, drivers, and gardeners deserve applause. Rafalin’s kindness and the invisible artistry of the groundskeepers made our stay even more meaningful.
💛 If we could give 10 stars, we would. This wasn’t just a vacation—it was a transformative experience. We can’t wait to return. Thank you, Cayo Levantado, for giving us the gift of presence, peace, and joy.

We stayed at Bahia Principe Luxury Akumal from 15th to 26th May 2025 with high expectations. Unfortunately, what should have been a relaxing family holiday became a deeply stressful and unsafe experience.
We were travelling with two members who have mobility issues and one child with severe allergies, so we carefully selected this resort based on its “luxury” status and accessible facilities. The reality was far from what was advertised.
Accommodation Issues & Hygiene Hazards
Upon arrival, we were told our booked rooms were unavailable because we had children in our party. We were given interconnecting rooms instead, called an “upgrade” — but these were completely unfit for occupation:
Structural damage: the building had caution tape, broken handrails, and cracked doors.
Unhygienic: filthy bathrooms, cracked tiles, black mould, thick dust (a major allergen), rust-stained tubs, and even bug-infested bedding.
Structural damage: the building had caution tape, broken handrails, and cracked doors.
Safety risks: broken doors, unusable showers, and unsecured fittings.
Despite raising these urgent issues with Francisco (Reception Manager) and Victoria (Guest Experience Team), we were told this was standard for TUI guests and nothing would be done. We were forced to sleep on the floor.
Constant Room Moves and Unsafe Conditions
After escalating to Houda (TUI Manager), Brian (Bahia Reception), and Valentina (Guest Relations), we were eventually offered new rooms — but they weren’t ready until late evening on 16th May, causing the loss of two full days of our holiday.
On 18th May (my husbands birthday), we returned to find the bathroom ceiling collapsing, with water leaking through the electrics. Our belongings were soaked. Maintenance came three hours later, but we weren’t relocated until 11:30 PM, and the new rooms were again dirty, dusty, and unsafe. One had exposed electrical sockets and loose wiring, with not enough beds.
The constant room moves, poor hygiene, and environmental stress severely affected our children, especially one with autism.
Injuries and Neglected Maintenance
We were later upgraded (a gesture valued at $2,000) but still faced issues. On 21st May, my husband was injured twice in the upgraded room — once by a loose shower grate and again by a falling A/C vent. These hazards had been reported earlier and we were assured they would be fixed before we moved in — clearly, they weren’t.
Data Protection Violation
On 25th May, we received an unsolicited WhatsApp message from a staff member to my husband’s private number — one we had never consented to give out. This is a clear breach of data protection. We raised this with Houda, who said she would speak to a director. We are still awaiting formal follow-up.
Construction Chaos and Health Concerns
The resort was undergoing major construction, despite TUI claiming the hotel had informed them that it would not affect guests. Noise and dust worsened my child’s asthma. Heavy machinery operated dangerously near children. This is not a safe or family-friendly environment.
Overcrowding After Coba Hotel Fire
Following a fire at Coba Hotel, guests were relocated to Akumal and Tulum. This caused severe overcrowding: long queues, food shortages, bar service delays, and no à la carte dining options — despite us paying a premium for a "luxury" experience. The facilities could not cope, and it was far from relaxing.
Final Thoughts:
We were misled, mistreated, and put at risk. We documented everything with photos and videos. The resort’s failure to address serious safety, hygiene, and accessibility concerns — combined with overcrowding, construction noise, and a data privacy breach — made this stay unacceptable.
I strongly advise anyone with accessibility needs, allergies, or young children to avoid Bahia Principe Akumal. This resort is not luxury, not safe, and not properly maintained.

Disappointed with Service and Unresolved Issues – Would Not Recommend
Date of stay: May 22–25, 2025
Location: Bahia Principe Luxury Esmeralda, Dominican Republic
I rarely write reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience at Bahia Principe Esmeralda because so many issues went unresolved, leaving a lasting impression of disappointment rather than relaxation.
Room Experience:
• Upon arrival after a long flight, check-in was delayed 1.5 hours beyond the 3:00 PM time, and our reservation for two beds was ignored—we received one.
• There was no welcome drink, no orientation, and no guidance on where to eat, what time restaurants closed, or what the resort offered.
• The room was hot, with poor air conditioning, reading 24°C on the digital system (photo attached). I submitted complaints via the resort app, which were never answered.
• At check-in, the bathroom was missing shampoo and body wash entirely (photos provided). Housekeeping later confirmed this but it should have been checked beforehand.
• The body wash dispenser was broken off the wall, and even after reporting it again the next day, no one ever came to fix it.
Customer Service:
• All complaints were submitted both via the app and calls to the front desk—none were acknowledged or addressed.
• I observed staff often appearing overworked. If you didn’t tip upfront, service was inconsistent or lacking altogether.
• As a Spanish speaker, I also overheard staff mocking and complaining about guests, which was disheartening and unprofessional.
• I escalated all concerns to the general manager during checkout, but was met with only a generic apology and no real accountability.
Overall Impression:
This was meant to be a relaxing getaway, but instead I spent time waiting in lines, reporting issues that never got fixed, and feeling dismissed. The lack of responsiveness, poor condition of the room, and the general tone of the service make it very difficult for me to recommend this resort to others.
I hope this review encourages the resort to improve its service standards and guest responsiveness. Until then, I suggest travelers explore other options if you’re looking for a stress-free experience in the Dominican Republic.

As a loyal guest who has stayed at multiple Bahia Principe resorts and recommended them to many friends and family over the years, it truly saddens me to write this review. But after what my husband and I experienced during our honeymoon, I feel a responsibility to others planning a special trip—especially something as meaningful as a honeymoon—to share the truth.
We checked into Bahia Principe Grand Punta Cana on May 3, 2025, and from the moment we arrived, it was evident that our assigned room (Villa 79, Room 79307) was poorly maintained. The stairs and exterior doors were chipped and dirty. Inside, the room had a strong smell of mold, poor lighting, no honeymoon amenities, an empty mini fridge, and a tub that wouldn’t drain. We were eventually moved to Room 7305, but only after repeating our complaint and losing valuable time.
One of the most disturbing moments was when a staff member entered our room loudly and unannounced while we were napping. He did not knock, which was a clear violation of privacy and professionalism.
Throughout our stay, we encountered unacceptable issues with food and cleanliness: moldy bread at breakfast, a roach in the dessert area, and a strong sewage odor in the buffet. We quietly reported each incident, not wanting to cause a scene, but none were resolved.
The lack of professionalism among several staff members was also shocking. We witnessed cart drivers shouting vulgarities at each other, joking loudly as if they were off-duty, and some even flirting openly with housekeeping staff. This is not the environment I remember from previous Bahia Principe stays, where staff were respectful, polished, and genuinely focused on service.
In response to our formal complaint, we were offered a vague “VIP treatment” for a future stay—with no details, no instructions, and no explanation of what it entails. We were told a complimentary stay was not possible. But how can anyone expect a guest to return and spend more money after such a disappointing experience, especially with no clarity about what “VIP” even means?
Unfortunately, I don’t have photos to document these issues. My intention was never to harm this business. I gave the benefit of the doubt throughout our stay and chose to report issues quietly and respectfully. My sincere hope was to see the brand I once loved make things right—not only by improving but also by offering a resolution that would have made me feel comfortable recommending Bahia Principe again.
Instead, I left feeling unheard, disappointed, and saddened that our honeymoon—a moment we will never get back—was marked by stress and frustration.
I hope this review encourages others to ask questions, manage expectations, and be vocal if something is wrong. Moments like a honeymoon are too important to entrust to a brand that doesn’t follow through.
