Terrible paint and I mean TERRIBLE. Not particularly cheap but just awful, hardly goes on with a brush and patchy with a roller. AVOID. It would have been a 1 star but Perth B&Q staff were excellen... See more

Spoke to Mia who asked a few questions about what my project was and what look I was going for, she was very helpful and understood the brief really well. She gave me some good advice on different tones to use against the static items already in the room. Very happy and all free! Thank you Mia and Valspar for promoting this service.
On opening the pot of eggshell for wood and metal paint, I was very surprised at its watery consistency. Most paint for wood is thicker like double cream this was more skimmed milk!
Despite my initial impressions I proceeded with my diy project following all the normal prep before top coating.
The paint dribbled easily but covered well. Second coat finished and it looked ok. However a day later when putting books back on the shelf, carefully, the paint peeled and chipped with the lightest of touch. Very disappointing after such a lot of work.
I contacted the manufacturer and although they responded quite quickly every time it was only to say I’d applied it incorrectly and one of their suggestions for good practice actually contradicted instructions on the tin.
As a gesture of good will Valspar offered me a voucher for more paint. No thanks!
So Valspar has responded with the stock answer obviously not having read my review.
I have been in contact with their team and am only writing this review having had no sensible response from them over the last few weeks.
I know they have no idea how experienced you are when you send in an email but having explained I’m a competent, experienced diyer it was exceedingly patronising when their instructions even told me how to stir the paint!

I used the WhatsApp chat feature to get colour ideas for my children's bedroom and they gave me ideas I hadn't considered and created a moodboard. It was really helpful and I would highly recommend!

My Mum paints her whole life and is basically a painter.
She had to get me to change brand as she has already got two coats on of the premium Valspar we git mixed up and it’s nowhere near ready. At £55 a 5 litre tin you would expect top drawer quality.
Im hugely disappointed Valspar as the colour you had was so unique it would of been stunning
You really need to work on this formula. One 5 litre tin isn’t even enough for one small room it requires that many coats.
You got my hopes up Valspar, I usually always check trustpilot but never thought b and Q’s premium brand would need this.
Your morning grey is lovely just your quality is severely lacking. Have to be honest.

The best paint I've used. Very thick and amazing finish. Colour options with the mixing is great. Much better quality than Dulux which is often watery and even a step up on Crown which never disappoints but can be difficult to find now.

This paint is my favorite! One coat and done. The color palette was delightful!

Terrible awful I have not enough words for how bad this paint is . Put 3 coats on white paint using a dark mustard colour I brought a 5ltr and after the 3rd coat I’ve got less than enough to cover a 1/8 of wall and it’s still so patchy and looks awful , but to get a refund you need to buy another tin and they will refund 1 . I honestly don’t think another 3 coats would cover it so I’m changing back to dulux a trusted brand , please don’t try this paint save your money .

Lovely colour but how many coats!?? Terrible paint. Stick with Dulux

Edited to add: No customer service has been in touch - they can't anyway because they haven't any contact details and nor have they asked for them or given me any way to contact them. So that tells you the ethics of this company- take the money and run and if someone complains on a public forum make a big statement but don't actually do anything.
Bought paint, got it home and opened the tin to find a colour that didn't quite resemble the one we had requested. Sometimes paint dries differently so we tried a patch on the wall. Three coats later and it still doesn't quite resemble the colour requested. Tried taking it back to B&Q where a rude and patronising employee told us it was non-refundable and it can take up to four coats to achieve a true colour. We're painting a darker colour on a lighter one, no way should it take four coats. This paint is awful and if you're buying it from B&Q you can expect a side of rude and patronising on top of your wasted money. Do not recommend.

Worst experience ever !, anyone who even considering to use their paints please re think and save yourselves a headache and whole load of stress and money , spent over £100 on paint had it mixed at b&q to my desired colour and paid extra for the durable version , however slight touch and the paint comes off the wall yes straight off the wall , never seen anything like it , I used multiple brands over th years and this one was by far the worst , stay well clear , I now have to go fork out more money and redo the whole room , bare in mind walls were primed and all necessary steps for cleaning was done before painting !! So really is no justifying how this happened , the quality of paint is horrendous took customer service absolute joke!! Trying to find any reason to not take accountability ,

I decided to freshen up the paint in downstairs loo and Valspar looked to have the exact colour I was looking for so I had some mixed.
I have spent two days in the smallest room in the house struggling like crazy to get a decent finish on the walls. The paint is thin, it won't brush on and because its so thin when you get the roller out after cutting in, the cutting in rolls off because its started to dry. Like I say its a very small room so it was literally minutes between cutting in and rollering.
The colour is awful an looks nothing like the colour card (Sweet Neroli), its too orangey, plus the B & Q man that mixed it needs to go on a customer service course, he was so grumpy.
Now I need to start again and decide whether I can face painting the walls again with a different make of paint or wallpaper the lot.
It looks so much worse that before I started. :( :(

It was the most useful help I've ever tried. They really supported me choosing the colours, answering all my questions, etc. It was fast and easy!

We spent £500 on emulsion and gloss. Beautiful colour matching. However, the worst paint we have ever used. It created a lot of work. The gloss was matt and this had to be sanded down and dulux applied. The emulsion was patchy and for a professional finish finish needed four coats. The job has taken twice as long. We will never touch this paint again.

Dreadful paint. Avoid at all costs. Bought gloss for wood and metal. Knew as I opened the tin it was rubbish. So runny it spilt everywhere. Painting with it was like painting with milk. After one coat I could tell no difference from undercoat. Didn’t bother anymore and purchased Dulux Once - a proper paint.
Did walls with a Valspar mixed emulsion. After the first coat it had a patchy, chalky finish. Benefit of the doubt as could have been my painting skills. Second coat though looked just the same. Did a third coat and the finish still looks chalky.
It’s not cheap paint and should not be sold as such. Trying to get a refund through B&Q seems pointless and life’s too short. Not even sure there’s any point in donating the “gloss” and wasting someone else’s time, but there’s virtually a full tin.
Avoid, Avoid, Avoid
Then see their response indicating they would be in touch to discuss the issues. The following day I received an email asking for more information as they wanted to know the feedback was genuine. I supplied the info and since then nothing! Not only dreadful paint, but also dreadful customer service

Absolutely fantastic . Above and beyond to get the right paint. I would give more than 5 stars . Can't thank you enough for your help

Absolute rubbish. 3 coats so far and still patchy. Other walls with traditional paint took 2 coats.

Really helpful. Able to send inspo pictures via WhatsApp and someone matches them to the range and creates a mood board.

Used Valspar premium colour mix emulsion to paint my daughters room, 3/4 the room was painted in Dulux off white with the feature wall in Valspar colour mix. The Dulux dried perfectly to a great finish but the Valspar weeks later still feels tacky to the touch , although is dry? Valspar reps response was it must have been to humid, yet the dulux dried, so then said the wall covering was unsuitable yet its on the same WallDoctor paintable paper as the Dulux is on, so then i must have not waited ling enough between coats, but like the Dulux its only had 1 coat. It seems every excuse to blame me even though the Dulux painted on the same day on the same white paper in the same room is perfect. I wont pay a premium price for valspar again, i will stick with Dulux.

Mina was really helpful, informative and I got lots of good ideas from her. I will be going to get some tester pots.
