Non judgemental and supportive team and whilst I had no wish to stop drinking this approach has allowed me to control the amount I drink to the point I am comfortable with it

The method did what it said it could achieve, namely to materially reduce my alcohol intake while at the same time allowing me to continue drinking but in moderation. I believe the success is derived 60% from the medication and 40% from my will power.

This just works and is totally life changing! The results are incredible and all you have to do is stick to the plan - no more than that. That compulsive decades long habit of wanting "just one more glass" has gone. Thank you! Thank you!

It is truly a game changer - thank you for your excellent customer service!

What a groundbreaking solution to alcoholism, or just to the habit of drinking too often/too much. A fantastic, and much more successful, alternative to AA. The organisation itself is also very good. The doctor and Adrian very professional, helpful, caring, precise. Life changing.

I am not yet where I want to be with drinking, but I’m really pleased with the progress made in a short time-frame. As well as a top-notch product, you really can’t fault the friendliness, speed or efficiency of the team behind it, from Joanna who is my main point of contact, through to the Doc’s who prescribe and the company that dispatch the meds, everyone is so on the ball it’s great. Thanks so much!

I have currently been on TSM for 2 weeks, so it’s early days. I haven’t experienced much change as yet, but I’m hopeful. The process so far has been extremely smooth, and I feel very relaxed to be honest with my therapist, who is clearly completely non judgemental. I am so happy to have at long last found a method to assist me to take control of my alcohol intake.

I have been a daily drinker (at home) for many years - far more than I care to remember - and have been increasingly aware that I wasn't in control so much as the drink was in control of me - very subtle how this happens - I would get in from work, generally around 7:30 and generally be on my 3rd glass of something by 8pm.
In truth this has only been a problem to me as I'm one of those 'lucky' drinkers who could still get things done, but it absolutely was a problem and it was getting me down.
I was somewhat cynical that taking a tablet could really help me control this and I guess there was a big part of me that didn't really want to confront it as I expected it to be challenging - why give up something that you convince yourself you enjoy after all, especially after a tough day, but they're all tough days right?!
The beauty is, you only need to make one change - Take a tablet, or in my case just half a tablet, a short while before your first drink. After that I would pour a drink exactly as normal and think nothing different, but things really do change... By the time I'd normally be half way through my third drink I'd realise that I hadn't even finished my first - I could if I wanted to, I could even have another after that, but that automatic response to keep knocking them back just diminishes - imagine pouring a drink and finding an hour later that your glass is still half full.
I'm now 6 weeks in to the program. I still enjoy a drink on a weekend and occasionally through the week, but now have have 4 or 5 days every week where I don't even bother - I honestly didn't think that was possible for me... The beauty is, I'm no longer wrestling with denial or willpower and dreading the day when I need to stop.
By all means be cynical, but give it a go!!

Having made the initial enquiry with TSM, I took my time to reflect on whether to give it a try. Did I really need to spend this money? Surely I could pull myself together and get my drinking under control without the need for these pills? After all, I have never considered myself to be an alcoholic, but I am a long standing heavy drinker, and it was getting worse. The other big factor holding me back I can best describe as worry about losing my emotional crutch. For 25 years I have drunk alcohol to celebrate, to commiserate, to be sociable, to be antisocial, to calm my nerves, whilst sunbathing, whilst sitting by the fire, you get the picture. Both my partner and I worried about whether we would be miserable if one of us started drinking much less.
In the end I made my decision one horribly hungover Monday morning, staring down the barrel of another very busy work day and hating myself for drinking my own bodyweight the night before, again, and ruining the start to yet another week.
It has only been a few weeks into treatment, and still early days, but I think it could be one of the most important decisions I have ever made.
My drinking pattern has already changed profoundly. I am writing this early on a Saturday morning, with this strange new phenomenon of feeling well in the morning, having had a couple of drinks the night before. The thing that I am over the moon about is that on TSM programme I have found that you can still enjoy a drink. It is life changing to know that, if you choose to, you can have a drink or two, but that is not going to turn into a binge. There will be no hangover the next day. My experience so far is that you do not need to feel guilty and you can still socialize in the pub, or anywhere where other people are drinking, and not feel like you are missing out or being a killjoy.
You do have to follow the instructions for taking the medication carefully. There were a few small side effects to start with, but nothing unmanageable. I found that initially the tablet made me quite ‘switched off’ and drowsy. However now it is fine. The miracle is that I have one glass of wine, sometimes two, enjoy it, then unbelievably the next glass is still half full several hours later and ends up being drunk by my partner. This is almost incomprehensible. I find I am looking forward to being able to drink in the evenings because I know it will only be a small amount and there will be no hangover the next day.
In a couple of weeks my total alcohol intake has reduced by around half. I used to drink between 50-70 units a week, sometimes more. Last week it was 27 units. I have further to travel on this journey, and aim eventually to have three or four alcohol free days every week, with just one or two drinks on the other days. But for now I am very happy that the guilt and shame have gone. I can feel my health improving; I sleep better, the dog gets longer walks, I am happier. Thank you to Adrian, Dr Jolley and all the Sinclair Method Team, you people deserve a knighthood for delivering a genuinely effective and trauma free treatment for excessive drinking.

It's never easy to face one's daemons but having decided to try Sinclair Method UK, I am so glad I did. Adrian, from SMUK, has been tremendously understanding and supportive throughout, the Dr's consultation with Janey was equally supportive. As for the treatment, well, I've followed the instructions religiously and can confirm that it works for me! In 5 weeks, my alcohol intake has dropped from 65+ units/week down to a comfortable 8. More importantly, the "itch for the buzz" has gone completely! In summary, a very professional yet approachable organisation and the best money I think I've ever spent.

I came across the Sinclair Method UK when I was researching ways to drink less, specifically when out socialising. I've tried countless strategies over the years to try and avoid drinking too much and losing control, but as hard as I tried I always slipped back to old and dangerous habits.
I spent ages reading up on the method, and reading reviews as it felt a little daunting to pay up front for something that I didn't really know whether it would work or not, but I'm so pleased that I did, and so grateful for all the detailed reviews on here that encouraged me and gave me the confidence to take the plunge.
I only started Naltrexone two weeks ago, and was a little apprehensive about side effects, but under the guidance of the doctor I started at 1/4 of a tablet and increased to 1/2 and then a full tablet, but happily I haven't experienced any, and the tablets are definitely working for me.
I've been out in social situations where previously I'd drink to excess and I just haven't felt the need, it's a strange sensation, but I am now much more mindful and able to think about whether I actually want another drink, as opposed to drinking all the way through to the end of the night where I'd be a mess. I've enjoyed the social occasions way more, being able to remember the whole of the night, and not worrying about what I'd said or done the day after.
The team at The Sinclair Method UK are there every step of the way, offering support, guidance and useful information, and I've found the Facebook group to be a super useful resource.
My only regret is that I didn't discover TSM sooner. It could have saved me many years of unhealthy drinking habits. I'm looking forward to continuing with TSM and seeing where the journey takes me.

Since lockdown I had got into the habit of drinking far, far too much. Every day I had several tins of beer followed by half to a full bottle of wine. I was hungover every morning and couldn’t wait to have my first drink in the early afternoon. Having read a review in the newspaper by someone who had tried TSM I decided to give it a go. I didn’t expect instant results but I am extremely happy about the way things are turning out. In the first week I took a tablet at lunchtime each day and had a can of beer at about 3 pm. I enjoyed it and had another shortly after. What happened next amazed me. I didn’t feel the need for a third, instead, because my drinking was habitual and I felt as though I had to drink, I tried a can of Guinness Zero. I didn’t even bother to finish it. I was amazed. I carried on with this routine for the rest of the week. My morning hangovers vanished and I began to enjoy life much more. At weekend I went on my routine social visit to the pub. I enjoyed my time there and slowly had 3 pints. I didn’t feel the need to have any more (in the past that would have been at least 4 or five pints). Better still, when I got home I didn’t feel the need to have the several glasses of wine that had become my norm. During the week I play golf once or twice. On the 12th tee I take a tablet. Back in the clubhouse my normal 3 or 4 pints is reduced to 1 which I drink very slowly. When I return home I open a can of Zero which I don’t bother to finish.
I never feel as though I am forcing myself not to drink, I just don’t fancy a drink and feel very content.
After a few weeks I am trying a new regime. I don’t take a tablet during the week and some days I do have a can or two just before dinner. I don’t want any more and I feel happy with this level of consumption. I take a tablet before going to the pub at the weekend to socialise and am happy with 2 or maybe 3 beers.
I expect things to continue to improve but I don’t feel pressured and am happy if they don’t. My life is much, much better than before TSM. My alcohol consumption has plummeted from very dangerously high to around the NHS safe level and I am enjoying life more than I have for years.
Enrolling with TSM was straightforward communication is first class and I feel supported. I used an at home blood test service for my liver function test which was easy and quick.
TSM is not cheap but in my case it has more than paid for itself financially and has transformed my whole life. I am optimistic about the future and happy to have TSM as part of my life.

In July I thought I was drinking too much wine and inclined to cut down without stopping completely, An article in the Times about the Sinclair method seemed to fit my needs. The Sinclair Method provided excellent support as well as advice and the prescription for the pills to take, which I was later able to get on the NHS. Mostly, I found their support and counselling to be realistic and that helped me attain my target within three months.

The medication for myself is a work in progress, but what has been of enormous help has been the continual support and contact from Joanna at Sinclair Method, giving advice and helping me on my journey. This is the first time in my life that I’ve actually managed to stick to a programme of reduced alcohol intake. Many thanks.

I am new to the Sinclair method but so far so good. The tablets really help extinguish the desire to drink more so it really does help kerb your drinking. Early days for me but it is looking promising.
