Boots are undermining their brand with these cowboys
I booked this through Boots, which I'd always thought a respected and trustworthy UK brand. I was forced to pay for the tests up front before I could book a place and date, but I proceeded as I trusted Boots. THEN I found that the nearest branch offering the service is not any of the 3 near me but in Winchester, 20 miles away. THEN I discovered that neither this branch, nor ANY in the wider area, even travelling 70 miles round trip, has ANY availability AT ALL on the dates I need. I got an email confirming my purchase, but there's no way to cancel it. It cost me £60 and I can find no way to get a refund.
I then went onto the Lloyds site and booked tests for myself and my wife on the correct day, at a convenient time in a chemist's about 5 miles away. I will pay WHEN I TAKE THE TEST.
BOOTS - WHAT ARE YOU DOING, SULLYING YOUR BRAND BY ASSOCIATING YOURSELVES WITH THIS BUNCH OF COWBOYS?
!! DON'T BOOK WITH THEM !!
Beware! I wish I saw these other reviews before booking my test with this company and having my Rapid Antigen Test at Boots the chemist at The Glades in Bromley.
Through making this awful choice I received a positive test result and lost my Spanish holiday.
I went home and immediately did two different tests a home which both showed Negative test results straight after, which leads me to believe I was actually to fly.
The 2 home tests I did which both came up with negative results were
NHS Test and Trace Rapid Antigen Test and
Orient Gene's Rapid Antigen Test
yet somehow and very suspiciously Recova 19 said I tested positive. Be aware and steer clear from them.
Would give zero stars if I could
Would give zero stars if I could. Went to get my fit to fly pcr test today and got the results in 5 hours, come back positive when I’m definitely negative as I had to do to a pcr for work this morning (that was NEGATIVE) took 5 LFTS when I got the results!!! Do not use this company, waste of time and waste of money!!!!!!!
Booked 2x Rapid antigen tests for fit…
Booked 2x Rapid antigen tests for fit to fly appointments cancelled without notice or reason disgusting service from boots leaving travellers in the lurch to make alternative arrangements, Boots should know better since people are trusting their brand name avoid.
Bought the kit for 60 pounds
Bought the kit for 60 pounds, arrived on the day it was to expire, did what i have to do and it has simply not uploaded. Went to four Boot stores in Birmingham, they said they have nothing to do with the kit, so dont know what to do now, this is day 4 of my arrival in UK
Zero stars if I could
Zero stars if I could. Wouldn't accept code. Emailed and did get a reply. I should register by uploading code. Think that's what I'd been trying for 2 days.
AVOID THIS COMPANY
AVOID THIS COMPANY. Day 2 test booked on day of travel, not clear at all it would get to my address in 5 to 7 days. Asked for refund, obviously was denied it. Awful example of people taking advantage of the pandemic, ripping off people following the rules. AWFUL.
Don't use this company
App wouldn't scan bar code and advice very unhelpful.
I tried another, slightly more expensive company who were very easy to use
Awful - avoid
Awful. App won't scan bar code. Tried numerous times. What a waste of time and money.
Defective Fit to Fly test
Bought “Fit to Fly” test which requires to be taken 24 hours before flight. QR code necessary to activate could not be recognised thereby rendering it useless. Boots customer service totally ambivalent and unwilling to refund money for defective product. Don’t do it unless you relish stress of finding a replacement the day before you fly.
NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE
Won't bore with details - there are enough horrendous tales on here - let's just keep it as not fit for purpose
3 day wait for bad customer service
Booked my test with Boots for Wednesday, By Saturday my results were still not sent to me. No response or contact was made from Recova-19.
Realized they still had not sent me my results I rang them at 9.40 am Saturday, the time they open. I was told that my results had not even made it to the lab at this stage. My issue was raised and hopefully someone will get back to me in a few days. My flight was leaving that day!!! I asked for some sort of contact to be made from the lab to the store so that i could track where my test was. I was told this could take up to 4 hours as they are not open and only work via email. I took down a reference number and called back a few hours later.
I was told by the second colleague that it is not their fault that my test results are not at the lab, nor can he guarantee that they will get there. It is not their responsibility to give you back your results or let you know when your results are ready. I should ring royal mail and complain to them as it is their fault my test results are not at their lab, 3 days after taking my test!
Awful customer service and a waste of 80 GBP
Abysmal service
Abysmal service! The test never arrived despite being bought and paid for 3 days before arrival in the UK. It took 1 days to get through on the phone line and finally being told that they would send a new kit, which arrived another 3 days later so 5 days in unnecessary isolation! Then did the test at 7.30pm and couldn’t upload it, tried 2 different phones and laptops. Tried again to uploaded the morning after at 10.30am and it worked!!! Which mean when they are closed you cannot upload anything.
All in all a complete disaster and for £5 more I’ll get back to the company I used before which was super efficient and got my LFT results in 10 minutes after posting the photo on their portal!
A plain annoying registration process
A plain annoying registration process. Had to book the test first and then say where I wanted it. Having checked with Boots where the tests in North Wales can be taken, I went onto the Boots site after registering with Recova and was told there was nowhere in North Wales. The nearest was Crewe or in the middle of Liverpool. How ridiculous is that.
I tried to get hold of Boots, but nobody ever picked up the phone, so I gave up and cancelled. Went to Liverpool airport for the test instead - TAG. Well worth the extra fiver.
If I could give zero stars I would…
If I could give zero stars I would because honestly, the service we have received was completely disgusting. My dad, a South Asian man who has lived in the UK for over 20 years and has a bit of an accent tried to call the helpline to get further help and update on his test results. The first time he called he spoke to a lady spoke quite clear. Yes, he has an accent but not a strong enough accent that you cannot understand. My dad could tell that the guy was getting agitated, so told him that he would pass the phone to his daughter (me) to assist him further and he hung up the phone straight up. We then tried to call the number again, and on this occasion, I was going to sit and help him so he could try and learn how to manage and deal with such phone queries in the future. The phone rang, spoke to a guy who picked up. He asked my dad for his full name, and my dad said it twice and he hung up the phone AGAIN!! This completely infuriated me, so instead I decided to call and deal with it myself, but instead the phone call rang and the line was disconnected. I then used my own mobile phone to call and they magically picked up the phone. I have never in my life experienced such disgusting service and a complete disregard for people. Don't work in customer service if you can't deal with difficult calls. Simple as that. Hanging up on a customer who struggles to speak english is completely racist and shows a lack of empathy to people who are struggle with the english language and are trying to learn.
Do not use
Do not use. Tried to take my test after returning to the UK to discover the barcode needed to register the test had been used in October. Waited 3 days for a replacement test, rang them up to be lied to and told (incorrectly) the test was in the post, rang another 2 days later to be told the test still hadn't been sent. Was told I'd automatically get my refund when the result was registered. Took the test, no result 6 days later. Phoned up, lied to again: told there was a lack of information to give my result and that the refund needed to be checked by a manager. Awful service.
If I could give less I would.
If I could give less I would.
Utter shambles. A 2 day return test was sent. Could not register the test as someone else had registered the barcode number. A replacement test and refund were promised. The replacement test was not sent out. 2 phone calls (and nearly 1 week later) the replacement test was finally sent. Test completed registered and posted back. No results for 6 days. Another 2 phone calls and we are blamed for not filling in the information correctly (this was one of two tests and the third time I've had to use the system as well as being a digital marketing consultant who is very familiar with all kinds of software). Negative result finally issues 13 days after return!! May as well have not bothered and just isolated for 2 weeks. We've now been told as the person who promised the refund didn't make not of it the case has to be escalated to a customer manager so now more waiting to hear back.
Unacceptably poor service!
Not a good outcome
Keep trying to do the day 2 test but just says invalid bar code. Can’t contact they don’t reply to the email no I would not use them again
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
Couldn’t give less than 1 star but would if could! Only had half our results back, a day over the 48hr promised turn around. That is not the worst of it, my test came back positive despite lateral flows saying negative, proof that their positive was wrong however came via the fact I am on a vaccine trial which meant the trial had to redo my PCR and that came back negative! Please don’t use this firm, they clearly lose tests, get results wrong and as many other reviews show impossible to get a refund! We paid via a credit card so may try and get a refund that way!
Returned from holiday New Year’s Day
Returned from holiday New Year’s Day, took the test 2nd January and posted it in a Royal Mail priority post box (as per the instructions) - 2 separate packages one for myself and one for my husband. My result came on 6 January (1 day after my package received at lab as per Royal Mail tracking). My husbands result has still not been received, although Royal Mail tracking shows it was received at the lab the same time as mine. I could not find any contact details on the website in order to chase the result. My husband has now emailed Boots and is awaiting a response. Meantime he is still having to quarantine - some six days now since return from our holiday. Not the sort of service we were expecting or value for money. We only ordered these tests because of Boots being a well-know name and we considered them to be trustworthy compared to relatively unknown suppliers.
Definitely would not use this service for future travel needs.
UPDATE: 9th January 2022 - my husband’s test result has finally been received.
