Impossible to do anything

Had pinwheel for 2 months but doing anything other than vanilla pinwheel is impossible. I tried to add WhatsApp, but after 1.5 hours it just wasn't working. Tried to turn on Google play store, which eventually worked, but couldn't download anything, no matter what I did in the caregiver app. If I tried to do these things on my regular adult phone it would take 10 seconds, but was impossible on a pinwheel. Eventually I rang pinwheel and asked them to factory reset the phone so we could start again. It took 90 mins on the phone with customer care (who were very patient) and they went up and down every alley and they found issues at every step. Eventually we got it factory reset and I cancelled the subscription. For context, everything (the phone, the pinwheel operating system, the lot) all came from pinwheel, so I didn't screw it up by doing something myself. Lastly, calling the customer care line cost me £1.68 per minute (from the UK to USA), so the 90 mins call cost me £151...which would have just bought me a new phone. This might work fine in the USA but it doesn't work for me in the uk. FYI I had the Samsung A16 phone from pinwheel.

I just love my pinwheel experience

I just love my pinwheel experience. This the perfect phone for anyone who wants to give your child some freedom with a phone but don't want to worry about all the social media for their child. This gives the kid freedom and a piece of mind for the parents. I also appreciate the customer service I get from pinwheel. I am actually talking/typing to alive persone. It is important to have phone with you to trouble shoot the problem. I have not had any issues with the service they have provided and this is my second child with a pinwheel phone.

Good in theory

Good in theory, terrible execution. The app is glitchy, not always showing my kid’s GPS location which is frankly the main reason I bought the watch. I’ve had it for three months and it stopped allowing me to call my son about 1 month in. This fix was taking the SIM card out and putting it back again which I apparently have to do every two weeks. My son tried to call me and the call failed and then he wasn’t able to call anyone on his list which scared him.

The screen is set too large for the phone so some buttons are nearly unreachable while I’m going in and trouble setting. Good idea, if it works. Great user interface and app - if it works. I do not recommend buying this watch until they work out the issues. Recommend waiting a year or so.

Super Pleased

I have reached out to Pinwheel twice with questions and have spoken to Eric, Melissa and Chen B. I was so pleased with the professionalism and customer service. They all went above and beyond to help me and were all kind and understanding. I am not super tech-savvy, and they answered every question and assisted me with figuring out my problem. I highly recommend Pinwheel for peace of mind. They have truly given that to me with my twins and their first phone.

We switched from Gabb watches and I'm so happy we did! I love that I can see all my kids' texts and images that are sent between my children and anyone on their contact list right on my phone. No juggling between apps, and I can easily switch between my children's profiles. The price is a little higher than Gabb, but both the product and customer service blow Gabb away. BTW, I really wanted to love Gabb, but there were too many problems with both watches and customer service that we couldn't stay with them. Pinwheel gets five stars and the phones and service are priced well.

Pinwheel has incredibly bad costumer…

Pinwheel has incredibly bad costumer service. I received a phone that wasn't working correctly. After 2 months of going back and forth with customer service on a daily basis, they agreed to send a new phone. They wiped all the data off the old phone despite me asking them not to that until I received the replacement. The new phone was supposed to be delivered in 5- 10 business days. After 6 business days, the had not shipped and they don't know where it is.

VERY BAD customer service

VERY BAD customer service. I canceled my plan via email and phone in June and they continued to charge me for months! Then blamed me for not doing it. When I clearly stated I was not using phone and had not opened it since it was sent. Customer service is choppy and the last person I talked with was brash, rude and uncaring.
UPDATE TO REPLY FROM PINWHEEL:
I asked via email and text 6 months before Pinwheel actually cancelled.
Putting the onus on the customer for inept management via low cost customer representatives that don’t actually do the work, that makes for bad customer service. Hence my bad review.
If you want to lie online about it, that’s on you. I have the emails from pinwheel pretending to not know who I am in order to delay cancellation, much like your reply here:
Good luck with not being able to understand accessibility needs in the general population. Customers don’t have time to do your job, which they are paying for via rip off subscriptions hidden inside illegible legal obfuscation.
Do better. Learn from the people paying your wage.

Pinwheel phones are unsafe

Due to a power setting (battery saver) in the caregiver app, my 14-year-old son, with no computer training, was able to bypass the "strict security" protocols. This enabled him to make and receive phone calls to unapproved contacts, and outside of approved usage hours.

I have been on the phone with their Philippines call center all morning requesting a refund, but am getting nothing but obstruction and runaround.

If you care about your children, do not buy this phone. It is too easy for a kid to hack.

UPDATE: Pinwheel’s response is a big load of crapola. The “clear warning” is tucked away under a tiny little (!) icon that is very easily overlooked. When it comes to child safety that warning should be in BIG BOLD RED LETTERS ON THE PAGE LIKE SO.

Still no refund either. Pinwheel cares more about your money than your kids.
