Absolutely Disastrous Experience

Absolutely Disastrous Experience - Avoid PC Specialists at All Costs! (1/5 Stars)
I purchased a high-powered stationary computer for my startup's molecular analysis work, costing almost €5000. The entire experience has been an unmitigated disaster, consuming precious time and money.

It took 26 days for them to assemble and "test" the machine. Upon arrival, it wouldn't even start. After phoning support, they agreed to take it back, but neglected to mention I had to create a return order online. Days passed as I uncovered this crucial step myself.

The first return took 7 days at their facility, only for the computer to be returned with THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. It was as if they hadn't even attempted to fix it. At this point, 60 days had already passed since my original order.

We sent it back a second time. After another 7 days, they finally conceded to build a new system. This added another week or two to the wait. When the replacement finally arrived, the GPU was completely detached and had caused significant internal damage during transit – clear evidence of poor packaging.

We are now almost 3 months in, with zero usable product and endless frustration. We demanded a refund, only to be told their return policy would take an estimated two weeks. Unacceptable.

On top of this operational incompetence, their customer service is utterly useless. Each time you contact them, you speak to a new representative who has no context or understanding of your ongoing case. There is zero continuity or effective support.

I CANNOT RECOMMEND PCSPECIALIST to anyone. Save yourself the immense headache, time, and money. Look elsewhere.

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We are genuinely sorry that your experience with this order has been so disappointing, particularly given the scale of your investment and the importance of the system to your work.

We can see the system was first delivered in early June and later returned to us for repair following a reported fault. Although a motherboard replacement was carried out, the fault unfortunately persisted, which prompted a full rebuild. The rebuilt system was dispatched in August, but regrettably arrived damaged in transit. At that stage, you requested a refund, which we have processed in line with our returns procedure.

We are very sorry for this unfortunate chain of events, which have clearly fallen far short of the standard we expect. Thank you for your feedback regarding communication and continuity when dealing with our support team, please be assured that we will be looking to review this further.

We are sorry again that we were not able to deliver the service you expected and deserved on this occasion, and we appreciate you bringing these matters to our attention.

Kind regards,
PCSpecialist

Called them up

Called them up. and told them they had forgotten thermal paste and they put my ram in A2 B2. and now 2 years and 4 months later after opening it up and finding all the faults with it. They refuse to help or even give me a clear understanding of what has/had happened.
due to therma paste never being added has damaged the lsa on the CPU which handles the microcode and pcie lanes. WORST COMPANY EVER to build pcs

They refused to give me anything and just hanged up on me. All I wanted was some help from the "specialist" but they are clearly not specialist they are bad at their job clearly when making basic errors and refusing to accept it. BUT i have video recording and will post on youtube aswell

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review.

Upon checking, you have not provided your order information therefore i have requested this through our Trustpilot tools so that we can investigate further.

It is concerning to read that after 2 years and 4 months, you have come to find that the CPU has no thermal paste. We would be keen to understand the specifics of this further. If a system is missing the thermal paste from its CPU, it is unlikely that it would power on for a little more than a couple of minutes as it would quickly reach its thermal limits and shutdown to protect its self.

Without knowing the full specifics of your order, if the RAM was seated in A2 and B2, this does sound like a typical correct position, for a dual channel configuration.

Please do get back to us with the requested information so that we can investigate this further.

Kind regards,
PCSpecialist

Easy and good price

Super easy solution for building a new computer, as almost all the work is done for you. The price is also great and similar to buying the components individually.

As the systems are tested before shipping there is also less risk related to components not fitting well together or potentially broken. And a guarantee for the whole system is definitely a great plus.

Building and shipping was within the advertised timespan of around 12 days. Setting up the computer was also easy, with minimal work.

I did find their configuration tool a bit odd, as the items listed depend on what start configuration you have selected. So I had to start over a few times with different configurations to get the items that I wanted.

10/10 would recommend to anyone building a PC from scratch, especially if you do not have much experience already.

Very long delivery time

If you want to wait one month for a PC that any other company will deliver in less than a week, buy here!
The PC itself arrived in good condition and works fine, but the delivery time was more than double of the (already long) 9 working days they claimed it would take at purchase. Very disappointed with the experience.

Dear Nadine,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.

Rarely there may be instances that we take a little longer than the estimated lead time to ensure that everything is working as it should with each of our systems.

This unfortunately seems to have been paired with an issue in transit that has led to further delays.

Please accept my apologies for the frustration that the delay getting your system to you has undoubtably caused. We will naturally be investigating this case to see if changes can be made to eliminate these delays or make our communication more transparent.

Kind regards

You must give this company a try! It's worth it.

My experience with PC Specialist has been by far the best in my online buying experience. I was purchasing the laptop equipment for my son, who was starting university. He had certain, university imposed, computer requirements and I was rather reluctant to take on the task. The website is extremely easy to use. Customer service (Tove), is just fantastic!. Tove was both informative and professional, however she was personable. I felt as she represented a company which was glad for "my" business and wanted me to be a satisfied customer. I would DEFINITELY recommend PC Specialist to anyone interested in quality equipment, at fair prices.

Dear Nikolaj,

Thank you for taking the time to leave us feedback regarding your most recent experience with PCSpecialist.

After reviewing the email chain with my colleague Tove I can see that there have been several back-and-forths regarding the coil whine and I am hoping I can address your concerns here.

I can confirm that my colleague's responses to you are correct, and that coil whine is a “side effect” if you will with computers, and to explain this better, I will use full transparency here with the hopes that this may also help other customers who may also be encountering something similar.

A coil whine doesn’t necessarily mean that anything is wrong with your hardware. While the sound is emitting from your hardware, it is a vibration from having a large amount of power going through them, this doesn’t mean anything is coming dislodged or being damaged. It is for example in the same manner in which a Fridge can often give off a light Humming noise. If you have a fairly powerful GPU, and/or are running fairly old games or both, you may be running games at extremely high framerates without realizing it, and you don’t have in-game FPS caps or V-Sync enabled, you’ll most likely be running games at unlocked, uneven framerates that can result in screen tearing, especially if the framerate exceeds refresh rate.

Other variables include If your monitor refresh rate is at 60 Hz, we would recommend to set a 60 FPS cap in NVIDIA Experience or in your game, if the game supports FPS caps, V-Sync is an option too but can introduce some latency that an FPS cap by itself does not. If your monitor refresh rate is at 120 Hz, 144 Hz, 240 Hz, or another high refresh rate, this can also increase the chances of Coil whine emanating from the PC.

In the case of 240 Hz gaming and higher, you may still need to cap at 144 Hz or lower to significantly reduce coil whine. The amount of leeway you leave between your FPS cap and refresh rate depends on the monitor you have and the GPU you have. Another variable is If you’ve been overclocking your graphics card and are experiencing coil whine after, disabling your overclock is one of the first things you should do to fix the issue. If doing so works, you may still be able to overclock your graphics card- just try to tweak it more carefully, and especially reduce voltage as much as you can. In most cases, though, a GPU overclock causing coil whine is an issue best solved by simply not overclocking.

As you can see, many instances can cause this to occur and for the most part, this is not classed as a fault, even Most Manufacturers themselves will reject an RMA for Coil whine unless it is an extreme circumstance, and even then it would be subject to the RMA team and their assessment of the noise and other factors.

We had originally looked to do this as a Goodwill Gesture in the hopes that this would have perhaps decreased or in an ideal world stopped this from happening further, Sadly however it is still present and given these events we are no longer in a position to offer any additional support with the Coil Whine, you are still however fully entitled to support should the card have an actual fault.

Whilst I fully appreciate how frustrating this must be, and genuinely wish there was more we could look to offer in regards to a solution, we have attempted to look to do this positively and have gone above and beyond of what other companies may have done, I would even invite you to perhaps contact the Manufacturer directly and they WILL confirm their stance of policy regarding coil whine. They may also be able to provide further support or recommendations on how to reduce it at the very least.

Many Thanks,
Chris H

Top product and top customer support

Not only is the product itself extremely high quality. The customer service is too. Before I started building my PC I had questions that the PCS team were able to answer quickly and with good explanation. The website is easy to use and displays information clearly. I was told from the start how long the process would take and it was on point. I would recommend PCS for anyone who wants a PC built with good service from the start.

Expect delays

Got exactly what I ordered - but did have to phone them a few times to make it faster. It's not a huge deal that the delivery time was delayed, seeing as the world of components is the way it is right now, but I am of the belief that if you say a date, you gotta hit that mark.

Otherwise I feel chaeated, because then I should have chosen the competitor, seeing as they were being truthful with their estimates.
