Very disappointing
Very disappointing. I have a subscription and received my new charging card recently which I activated straight away. We're travelling long distance (UK) in two days so I thought I'd do a trial with the new charge card. Nope does not work. Says I'm not authorised. Phoned customer services - answered by a french person who doesn't speak English clearly. He confirmed I used the correct procedure but otherwise couldn't help. I resorted to using the Ionity App which worked as normal, albeit very slow. Maximum charge rate with my car at 20% was 64.5kw which is ridiculous. My car will charge at 110kw from 20%. The charger is rated at 350kw and other bays were empty. A pretty poor experience. Ionity could learn a lot from Tesla where I've never had an issue ever! Annoyed that I've paid for a subscription and the card. Will check my route and now use Tesla Hubs on the way down. Ionity need to do better.
Amateurs!
It took a Q8 charging pass, a credit card and finally google pay and three different chargers before the charging really happened. And the €40 on the credit card is blocked although the charging was all of a sudden cancelled soon after accepting the card during the "charging preparation".
Other cars had problems as well.
AVOID THEM
It totally sucks
It totally sucks! Double or triple charges you every time by making a crappy connection which stops so they can pre-authorize/reserve/steal money from you several time for each charging attempt. Today I was charging an amount of 10€ and they block 2x40€. Then holds your money for days or weeks. No support. Cancelled my subscription and will spread the word.
Mostly positive experiences with them…
Mostly positive experiences with them in the UK. The monthly pass is a game changer
Good prices, terrible customer service
Although prices are very good if you pay a subscription, if you have any sort of query or question about your account or charging session, don’t expect any response! No phone number and only an eu Web address for customer service. Never get a full receipt on the app or any charging details. Great chargers, terrible customer service
Complete rip off
Complete rip off, £16.50 for 15 minutes charge which only gave me 55 miles.
Absolutely dreadful
Absolutely dreadful. I wouldn't even give it a one star. Very rarely do you get your vehicle to charge the first time. I constantly have 40.00 pending at least 3 times from my bank before it works. It then takes days to get that money put back into your bank. Customer services are absolutely useless. There rude and unhelpful and don't help. Go elsewhere it's not worth the headache the chargers aren't even what they say they are. Some are slow. I'm done with this company
Having tried a few suppliers iv settled…
Having tried a few suppliers iv settled in ionity. I pay the power subscription and get 0.43p per kw which is half the price of any competition. The rapid chargers always work great first time, i do everything from inside the car on the app the just hop out to plug in. Chargers are in my main areas but would like more ionity charging stations in future.
wonderfull app
wonderfull app, giver best estimate with car selection, i driver with ID3 and it giver better estimate then VW self.
Appalling App & Charging Experience
Appallingly App & Charging Experience:350KW charging looked ideal, tried for 30+ minutes to get the App & Website to work. Chargers 3 & 5 started & immediately stopped. ionity charged three lots of £40 "holding charge". Whichever Marketing Genius decided that building an app & forcing new customers to download instead of simple debit or credit card tap & pay solution should ask their university for a refund of their tuition fees! "You never get a second chance to make a first impression." AVOID IONITY! However many £millions Ionity spent on their network is somewhat negated by hundreds (thousands?) of users telling their family, friends and business contacts to avoid Ionity charging at all costs. Difficult to use and insecure
There are two problems with this company. It is difficult to charge your car unless you have a charge card. Their connection process is complex, and you cannot swipe a credit card. You have to enter your card details. They say their system is foolproof but I have been charged for a car charge that I didn't make. I wasn't even in the area. So they have allowed a thief to access my card details. They denied all responsibility and said I had approved the charge. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
I’m very surprised to read all the bad…
I’m very surprised to read all the bad reviews. I have used ionity since I got my first EV in March this year and I find it extremely reliable and convenient Stations are always clean, next to cafes, or alternatives
I used motorway and non motorways stations in the Uk and France and only once I had to wait for a charger to become available (less than 10 mins)
Charging speed had been pretty constitent, and as expected (people should check their car charging speed before claiming they are being ripped off)
I don’t pay the standing charge (£40) as I have a ionity account but petrol stations preauthorise £120 per filling these days so what’s the difference?
A few times a charger was faulty but it wasn’t too difficult to move to another one next to it (never stopped at a petrol station to find out they don’t have any diesel at a given pump or else?)
I really can’t fault the service from ionity
Pricing in the uk is quite significantly more than France (45p per kWh in the Uk compared to 31 cents (or 27p) in France. That’s my only criticism.
Will continue to use ionity, with a very high chance that I won’t use any other providers…
I charge at home for day to day use but I have done many long distance trips for work and leisure (around 2000 miles return every time ) with no issues!
I ve seen so many other station form other providers that look so gloomy, dirty or malfunctioning (zap map gives you a good oversight of what’s working or not and ionity is pretty good on that point)
Happy (silent) motoring
Would give less than 1 star
Would give less than 1 star - absolutely useless and not at all serviceminded the staff at customer service
It’s advertising as a 350kw charger but delivering 34kw.
It’s advertising as a 350kw charger. It’s charging at 34kw. Over priced for what it is and misleading in terms of charge delivery.
Overly complicated
Overly complicated, scan this, scan that, then just won’t charge anyway. Chargers designed by an IT department with little regard for the user. Little tip Ionity, design so you can plug in, scan your card and walk away.
Done trying them now, life’s too short to mess around with such a poorly designed system.
Avoid Ionity if you have an option
4 weeks after taking the £40 hold on my card, no refund. Customer service dreadful.... telling me I have wrong card number. I have sent them proof including their own system invoice. Three emails and a frustrating call to Customer Service..and still no resolution. Do not use this company if possible
Generally works very well
Generally works very well, especially now that the old Tritium Ionity chargers are increasingly being phased out.
Well-priced if you buy their cheap subscription, which has no commitments in terms of minimum length.
The station works perfect, but expensive
The station works perfect. But the price..! Twice the price as I pay elsewhere.
Will avoid Ionity in the future.
tap to pay failed on all units at this…
tap to pay failed on all units at this location (maidstone units 71 72 5 6 etc)
i phoned the hot line (its not hot its slow)
they could only talk about nfc prepaid cards or using real credit cards
tap to pay using samsung pay using any of my cards would not authorise
reason unknown
Perfect - does not deserve poor ratings
Planned beforehand and installed the app. Bought Ionity power for a large discount. Charged seven times on our trip from Norway to Germany, every time without waiting time and with no problems whatsoever.
