HardDiskDirect.com. Honest. I'm Impressed.

Hard Disk Direct in California graciously refunded my payment. My order was not fulfilled, but it was not HDD's fault. A dishonest source outside of the U.S. supposedly had the item and supposedly shipped it to me, but it was a scam. I thank Patrick, Kevin, and Ian of HDD for their efforts to maintain a good reputation for HDD. - Richard R., Tallahassee, Florida

crazy scam

I spent almost €1,000 on an order of non-functioning merchandise. The seller initially seemed helpful, but then stopped responding and/or stalled. Purchased in June, now it's September, and my jobs are gone. On top of the crazy scam. Don't buy from this big guy named James McGill. You're a terrible seller, you're just a wicked scammer. People work hard to buy merchandise, you're stealing.

Poor customer service. They only care about the sale.

Spoke to sales rep Aaron Hopkins over the phone to confirm availability of a high priced item. He confirmed it was available and asked for fastest shipping possible. It was Friday at noon pst and I opted for priority overnight for Tuesday delivery. Comes back and tells me Fedex has issues picking up to delivery by Tuesday and is coming from East Coast. This was not disclosed during the sale and after I replied that it wasn't fair we were being charged for priority overnight he came back with a rude response. Poor attitude and customer service. They only care about sales.

Product not as advertised

I wish I'd looked this company up before making a purchase. Originally I purchased a NAS HDD from Seagate but had my order cancelled after a month (which apparently happened to many others as well) due to some sort of payment processing issue they were having. So, I found the same product from Hard Disk Direct. This product was more expensive than Seagate's price but it seemed reasonable enough, so I put my order in. Some time later I get an unsolicited phone call which I thought was spam, but it turns out it was a representative from Hard Disk Direct. It was difficult to understand him so I asked him to e-mail me. Read the e-mail and come to find that the reason he was trying to reach out to me was to con me into accepting a refurbished HDD and not a brand new one as advertised. I went back to the site and confirmed it with screenshots and all, yeah, they said this would be brand new. They told me they labeled it wrong on the site and it would be refurbished, offering a credit towards a future order if I kept this order.

I said I would not be interested, but would accept a credit towards this order if they wanted to keep it as this was priced as though it were brand new. They cancelled my order.

So, I do not recommend purchasing through them. At best they don't accurately represent their products on their site, and at worst it may be an intentional bait and switch. In either case this is a no-go for me.

charged my card and didn't ship the item

Charged my credit card, and then sent me a bunch of strange emails asking me to send me photos of my credit cards and drivers license... and they never shipped the item I paid for.
They say they have issued a refund, but I wouldn't shop there due to the strange requests asking for personal information from me.

HORRIBLE SERVICE - they make mistakes and blame the customer and charge them anyway!!

I tried to order an item from them, got a salesperson, Jennifer, in Chat who told me that an item on their website had the wrong photo and description, and it was what I asked for. So, I ordered it (the website was correct, so I ordered the wrong part). She told me she'd give me expedited shipping (she didn't). I contacted their Sales Manager, James, who also missed the fact that I was supposed to receive expedited shipping (he missed it). When I discovered it wasn't expedited, James did get me expedited shipping. However, because the item was wrong, it didn't help. I asked for my money back, and they blamed me and refused to take the item back and refund my money because the website was correct! They're blaming ME because I trusted their salesperson, who directed me to order the wrong item! I would have looked for a different part, except that she told me it was the correct one! Now, I've lost 4 days (when I'm in a huge time crunch) and still don't have the part I need... AND they're trying to charge me for the part anyway!

How to Write With a Pen on a Laptop

A lot of people want how write on a laptop but don’t know how to write with a pen on a laptop. The goal of this post is to show people how they can write with a pen on a laptop. Some laptops have touchscreen keyboards, which will work just as well as a pen. You can also get styluses that work pretty much the same as pens while being able to take notes on your computer.

Additionally, there are also apps that you can download on your phone. It will let you write with a pen on your laptop screen virtually. These apps must be a subscription but offer many features, such as note-taking, syncing between devices, and more.>>> laptopsgeeks.com

No answer on phone and Live Chat service refuse to help

I bought a refurbished monitor, after placing the order I have been charged but no tracking information or order confirmation has been sent. The website shows my order as "processing" and every time I try to ring up I have to leave a voicemail which never gets answered. If I use the live chat I am greeted by someone who says "i will tell our logistics team" and I hear nothing back every single time. I can understand shipping takes time but I would like some confirmation that the item I ordered is actually in stock and will be shipped with some tracking information.

Terrible company

Terrible company. Ignore the “free shipping”. They will never ship it out! They will keep telling you it will ship but they never do! Had to cancel order and do a charge back to get my money back!

Bought a listed referb item for $175 they asked for $620 later.

Bought a listed referb item for $175. They emailed me to let me know that they made a mistake and the price was actually $620.

The drive is $340 brand new from the manufacturer..... When I called to ask about this they said.... Well.... Does it come with the 2 year warranty at that price? Uhhh it's the manufacturer... Yes. And second of all your website only says it has a 90 day warranty.

Told them to just cancel and refund me. And they said.... I'll let my accounting know and hung up. They emailed me telling me they'd be cancelling. Apparently this has been happening with this company for a few months now based on other reviews. If I don't see that refund I'll dispute it with my CC company.

I wouldn't give this company your business.

I had been looking at 0F30144

I had been looking at 0F30144 - Hitachi 12TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/S 3.5-In Hard Drive for about a week. Page said in stock, new, and priced at $115. Once I got on with someone they said $460 because "The website catalogue is outdated, Inventory is ever-revolving and prices keeps changing depending on condition and lead time of product. The website prices keep updating every other day."

Common bait and switch. Will never buy from here.

They are a very unethical company!!!

They are a very unethical company!!!! They advertised computer memory for $192. It was not necessarily a great deal since other vendors had the same item for $199. I placed my order, my credit card was charged, and I received an order confirmation. A few minutes later the sales manager emailed me stating the item I ordered was open box an they are out of open box items and that I could pay an extra $110 or they would cancel my order. First of all it was not an open box item. I don't buy open buy items. Their site described it as a BRAND NEW item with no mention of "box" or "open" anywhere. In fact I had emailed the sales manager earlier asking about the delivery schedule and included a link to the product description page along with the $192 price tag. That same link now points to a page where the price is $300.

This is a scam site. Do not waste your time or money with this merchant when there are so many other reputable vendors.

Strange policies about personal information

I made a purchase of four hard drives on their website and paid with a card. Card was charged, and the charge showed on my account the next day.

They emailed asking me for a picture of my ID with the credit card with the number redacted except last four digits. They claimed my address was "unverified" and that this has something to do with them not usually shipping to private residences.

I offered to give them a business address to ship to, but they insisted on the ID/card picture.

I sent them a color scan with the ID number redacted, but name and address visible. They claimed the scan was unreadable and asked for "vivid" photos.

When I did not provide more personal information, they cancelled the order and refunded the payment.
Cancellation and refund were an acceptable solution. However, I would not consider this a good experience.

The request for a photo of an ID is unusual and unnecessarily invasive. There is zero reason for a business to ask for this kind of private information for a sub-$300 purchase of an item that is not specially regulated by law. Especially if the request is made after payment already cleared. The stated reason for it does not sound believable. There are all kinds of options to ensure delivery to the correct person, like requiring a signature on delivery. Address verification is also something payment processors do.

This policy is not articulated during the ordering process and is not mentioned in their FAQ. The communication with the company could use more clarity in general. Ideally, if there really is a business need to do some sort of verification, the company should find more modern and secure ways than emailing personal identifying information with the only guarantee of security being an assurance to “take the security and privacy of your data very seriously”.

Ordered drives

Ordered drives, they charged credit card, would not ship drives unless I sent a picture of my CC and drivers license. What company does that if the card clears. No drives and I am trying to cancel and get my money back.

I think it will never happen, but we will see.

Bait and switch tactics. Would NOT recommend this company!

Paid a premium for a specific part number/drive. Instead they sent a substitute part number (without telling me) which commonly sells for $200 less per drive than the one I paid for. Then I was told if I want the actual part number that I ordered, I had to pay an extra $550 per drive. Shady bait and switch tactics. Would NOT recommend this company!
