My first experience with these …kers …

My first experience with public charging… so i downloaded a fistful of Charging apps. I had planned to stop in Bath for driving break, dinner and charge.
Turns out to be GeniePoint. OK, no app. No QR. OK website. Tortuous sign up with multiple repetitions of input. 2010 style website. Finally after swearbox nearing overflow, charging. Return after an hour (didn’t need fast charging) on 7kw left town. Got home, checked credit card and found that I had been charged £1, then £25, then £1, then £8.70, then another £25. This makes £60.70. I hope I get the £52 back. If not, I am nowhere near wealthy enough for this game.
I really hope I’m wrong about genie point, but they look like sharp practice cheap shots, no updates and no maintenance.
Having seen internet reviews it reinforces my view. Avoid.

Was trying to charge as a guest,

Followed the steps as per instructions on notice board next to charger, Downloaded the app that was indicated on the charger that didn’t work,
Downloaded another app that was indicated at the bottom of the notice board next to charger below the top app that didn’t work
had to put down 30£, accidentally pushed don’t allow GPS, menu kicked me out
rung customer service, had to put down 30£ again, he walked me through the steps the system still wouldn’t let me charge (guy said this is weird)
had to then register for 25£ and go through the process for 4rd time, I was down 85£ at this point just so I could charge for 6£
the whole experience was so bad I would easily call it a SCAM !!! very expensive lesson to learn, please learn from my mistake and avoid at all cost.

Finally managed to get the app working after several tries only to discover that the app does not tell me the charging status. Also wad stung by going over 90 minutes when the unit clearly says 240 minutes on the unit I was using. I assume its better if you use raid but I wouldn't put money it. Its a rip off but it seems to be the best we can come up with. Perhaps it'll improve

I wish I could award -1!

Actually it’s less than 1. They owe me an hour of my life I will never get back! Profoundly buggy app kept rejecting every new password. Then I discovered the two Genie units I had sat beside for an hour were out of order. No signage to let anyone know! Zero customer care seems to be their ethos.

Chargers offline and no response from their 'support' line

10 chargers at charge location available but within 2hrs of charging (only a 7kw destination charger), all of them went offline!
Has now been offline for 2 weeks, I emailed their 'support' line and have got no reply, poor to not even acknowledge your email. I notice on their EV charging map, that 6 out of 12 of their chargers in my area are down, the wait to go back online and charge continues...

Did get me out of a pickle. After having my Tesla fitted with CCs retrofit, a 1 hour job day before going away, first service station “NO CHARGE DC CHARGING DISABLED” Tesla
Was useless couldn’t even charge on type 2, no home charge so started to look for a fast 43kw AC charger. These guy’s supplied this. 4 hours and 30 minutes later and £57 down I topped up 43kwh. Extremely expensive but very rare to get 43kw AC.
I understand over night fee if you sit on a charger 6 hours, over night or busy stations but the one I used is never used. I was charged 73pence per kilowatt and £10 every 90 minutes. So twice charged for over night fee. I believe if this company wants to be here in 1-3 years scrap this charge, change it to the suggestions above ie busy chargers, 6 hours plus. Business model like this you will have no returning customers, just customers like me that will only use in emergency’s. Plus most of type 2 stations broke. Look old infrastructure tbh

Rubbish company

Rubbish. My car needed 95 mins to charge and I got charged £10 for 'overstay'. I'm not sure if these idiots have a dictionary but how am I possibly 'overstaying' if I am actually paying for their service 🤔 at the time they fine me. I will never use them ever again. Utterly ridiculous. I urge you all not to use this service as they just don't care about you and just care about their income. Never again

The Worst EV

If there was a rating of negative, that is what they deserve. These guys are a pure scam, once they take your money which they will, you will never get a refund.

I have learnt the hardest way and sorry for not checking reviews before using them as I was in an emergency situation.

Summarily, they are crooks and thieves, *Avoid them*. You see Genie point, you run with whatever battery you,ve got left

Waste of time even plugging in

Wasted an hour trying to connect.
My partner had the app and it failed 3 times.
I then registered and thought we were getting somewhere. It counted down to connect... Then failed 3 times.
Gave up and went to more reliable source.
Still waiting on refund of £25 holding fee ....

Attempted to use this charging station at a supermarket. £35 taken immediately however car wouldn’t charge. Kept attempting to charge my car and a further £35 was deducted. Contacted customer service and spoke to the most rude and condescending representative who told me the charging station was broken and I would receive a refund in 7 business days. Demanded an immediate refund to which he said this wasn’t possible as the bank had taken my money, then I asked to speak to his manager to which he refused and said I needed to put this in writing. Emailed and manager eventually phoned me apologised and reimbursed me immediately. I will never ever use geniepoint again as it was all a very big inconvenience and took hours to correct. You would never go to a petrol station and pay £70 and drive away without any fuel so why is this happening to electric vehicles?

What an absolute joke

What an absolute joke. Said it accepted the card and started charging. 15 mins later come back and tried to disconnect only to be told "charging initiated"! Can't stop it, can't restart it, can't release the cable. Customer service was looking up solutions on YOU TUBE!!! I can do that myself! Took 25 minutes to finally get it released. Absolute piss take.

Charged for about 35 mins, got about 80 miles added and it cost £23! Far more expensive than filling up a petrol car.

Tried to use Genie Point at a supermarket car park. No instructions of how to use. Seemed over complicated to me. First time charging away from home.
Unable to just use a debit or credit card. So had no other option but to download the app including all my personal details and card details. Tried to use as a guest, but it didn’t let me. Timed out of the 120 seconds it takes to connect to be able to successfully charge my car. I tried this numerous times but zero charge to my car. No charge occurred yet I have £1, £25, £35 pending fees on my cc this morning. Here’s hoping I won’t be charged.
Not a positive experience charging away from home sadly. 😢

Charging at Busher Walk, Kendal.

Charged at Busher Walk, Kendal. Absolute nightmare, took three attempts to start a charge, over complicated system with apps, cards and conflicting information on equipment and in app. Was very low on vehicle charge so stressful experience worrying about being stranded. Not a good experience for using an electric car for long journeys.

Useless chargers and company

Useless chargers and company

I plugged in for less than 15 minutes (charge failed after 5 mins adding 1kW). I have inexplicably been charged an overstay fee of £170 and no one has had the decency to reply to my responses thus far. I am appalled by the behaviour of this company, they are fraudsters with an inferior charging network.
