Processing emotions safely

I had six online brain spotting sessions with Brigid, plus an initial consultation. Brigid created a safe, neurodiversity affirming space where I could process emotions safely. As a late diagnosed AuDHDer I have spent a lot of my life dissociated from my body, struggling to identify and name the full spectrum of emotions. I was very willing to do the work, but a little sceptical. I was surprised how readily I could access emotions in the sessions and relate them to sensations in my body.

During the sessions I had visualisations and sensations, such as feeling I was larger and taller - which has stayed with me - in a positive way. I also had a couple of very vivid dreams between sessions which gave me clarity on some painful, core wounds so it really felt that it brought up things I was repressing in a way I could process them.

Since the sessions I feel more solid, aware of my body and can more readily pinpoint when I'm becoming emotionally activated in a conversation. I would recommend brain spotting, just dive in and trust the process. For me it has unlocked things that I could not access through years of talking therapy.
