Kathy in customer services has come someway to restoring my faith in the company. We have had several poor experiences with 4com.
She has been super helpful and sorted things that have been repeatedly wrong.
Thank you Kathy.

4Com – a masterclass in deception and financial mis-selling
We signed up for what appeared to be a reasonable phone system with a rebate that made the costs look affordable. We were told that when the rebate ended, 4Com would “update our phones to the latest technology” and “offer a new rebate to keep costs down.”
In reality, this was nothing more than a trap. What they actually do is roll your existing contract into a brand-new finance agreement, doubling what you pay overall — but disguising it with another rebate so it looks similar on the surface.
We didn’t even realise we were entering into long-term finance, not a simple rental as they led us to believe. It’s a deliberate, misleading sales tactic dressed up as an upgrade.
Now we’re locked into a £72,000 contract for a phone system that has had constant problems, poor reliability, and disappointing support.
In my view, this is a scam and blatant mis-selling of a financial product. The whole process feels designed to confuse and conceal the true costs.
Avoid 4Com entirely — their business model relies on trapping companies into extortionate, long-term finance disguised as helpful upgrades.

Excellent Customer Service by Danielle
We were about to exit the contract with 4com, but were very impressed by their customer service representative Danielle's passion, professionalism, patience and kindness. We managed to reach a positive deal to stay with 4com. Though the experience with their sales leads to 1 star off, I would definitely highly recommend Danielle and give her a 5-star.
4com and the most expensive mistake our business ever made
If I could give zero stars, I would. 4Com sold our company a phone system that was presented as modern, secure and great value. (In what universe is their product and service a good value???!! And compared to what???? Yachts?? Land Rovers???) In reality it has been the single worst commercial experience we have had in twenty years of trading. We now know there are thousands out there in the same boat!!!
The sales pitch, by “the 4Com salesperson (4Com made us remove his name from here. His name is shown on our paperwork) who handled our account” , promised “free” or rebated phones and a seamless hosted system. (Yes we know that they wouldn’t be free but we didn’t expect over £100k worth of debt for a handful of phones!!!!) We were told we were dealing with experts. What we actually received was equipment worth a fraction of what we are paying for it, wrapped up in layers of long-term leases and hidden extras that no sensible business would knowingly accept. BNP the finance company that agreed to this has 90% 1 start reviews on here, 90%... We had to switch to Microsoft Teams calling in the end.
The HiHi handsets supplied run on outdated Android software that can’t even pass the UK Cyber Essentials test. 4Com still charge for things called SafeWeb and Anti-Fraud, even though the core phones themselves can’t be kept secure. Every month the bills grow with new “services” that we never asked for and can’t remove without penalty. Apparently, we did accept these services when we signed our contract. (We have found this by talking to many others in the same boat.) They are “optional”, but you will be charged regardless until you catch them and then ask for them to be removed. 1. They are all fluff and 2. We were not made aware. Of course, they will say that we were told and we signed. Classic, and just like many scandals that have gone before. To think these sales guys, get paid 1000s in commission for EVERY SALE!! Look on Glassdoor for a great tally of complaints of folks that have worked for them. Don’t take our word for it.
Support is another story. Endless tickets, apologies and resets that solve nothing. Phones greyed out, customers unable to get through, engineers blaming “the network.” The promised “business-class support” feels more like a scripted apology service. We have the “receipts”!
When you try to leave, you find yourself locked into multi-year finance deals at eye-watering totals. Ours add up to more than £100k over the life of our contracts for kit worth maybe five tops. How do we know what phones are worth you might ask? This experience has had us crawl through every brand of phone we could possibly find. The most expensive on the planet… about £600 in the desk phone market. Not thousands a piece, EVEN WITH services!!
The most galling part is that these practices are not isolated. Search the news and you will find report after report of small firms trapped in the same kind of telecom leasing mess. Just type in 4com BBC and have a look. The BBC does not put out false claims it can’t back up. Why didn’t 4com sue them?? We were naïve enough to believe that such behaviour had been cleaned up years ago. It hasn’t.
My advice to any business thinking about signing with 4Com is simple: do your homework, get independent advice, and check the real market price of the equipment. (you won’t find any except used and by the look of it those never sell. Probably because they can’t work with any other network.) Once you are in, it is almost impossible to get out.
We have raised a formal complaint and will pursue every route available to the end, not just for ourselves but for the many other firms caught in this web of mis-selling. This company talks about innovation and partnership, but the only thing they have truly perfected is turning small businesses into captive customers.
If your company has gone through the same thing, we would love to hear from you. Just look up Washstation Limited and reach out! Let’s compare notes on how much we’ve all been charged and discuss ways to join forces!

Google "4COM Complaints"
To your reply. I’ve not had anyone come back to me yet. So no - you’re not in direct contact with me as of today (17th Oct)
10% of reviews on here are reporting fraud / criminal level of salesmanship in how 4com sell their service. Truspilot AI is deliberately underplaying this - Just look for yourself.
I have no idea how 4com are still in business after the damage they have caused small businesses like mine and the one reported by BBC news.
Rather than give you my sad tale including their lies, total misinformation, false promises and what I consider BLATANT fraud (to say I am being offered a service and at no point is it explained you are in a 7 year LEASE contract for HARDWARE payments or that the product has no hope of doing what they said it would) - so if the service fails completely to live up to promises made (like in my case) you are totally 100% at the mercy of your contractual agreement on the hardware. IE you are tied in - whether they provide service or not. I am 6 years in to paying for a glorified phone (not even glorified as they have never once updated our broadband that they took over 5 years ago and its so incredibly slow calls drop out and our computers run at snails pace - never updated in 5 years and £30,000 down so far). Just GOOGLE "4COM COMPLAINTS" and you will find a BBC article and the inference of many many more people like them and me who feel scammed by these people. I have a solicitor about to embark on helping me reclaim my money and looking for damages for the harm they have caused my reputation in failing to provide a system that provided the solutions promised

Poor salesman with false promises
Poor salesman with false promises, poor internet which was never a problem before. I have had to spend extra on boosters. Complaints that do not get resolved. I had to cancel my DD as they were constantly over charging me lines I didnt have an extras I didnt agree to. They then decided to hit me with late payment charges because its the terms of the contract. Surely there is something that states they should actually provide me with a connection that can be used first!
Ongoing issues since the day I signed up

Smooth sales, hidden costs, and unclear contract terms
Our experience with 4Com began with what seemed like a smooth, professional sales visit. The representative presented the offer as a straightforward cost-saving package, assuring us that our monthly spend would be around £655. For many months that appeared to be the case — until the rate increases began roughly 18 months later. Only then did we realise how different the actual agreement was.
We later discovered that the contract locked us into an 84-month finance lease worth over £86,000, with BNP Paribas as a third-party funder we were not told about at the point of signing. None of this — including the total cost, contract length, or separate service fees — was clearly explained. Documents were presented in fragments and signatures gathered quickly, leaving important details unclear.
When we raised these concerns, 4Com’s responses were evasive and at times inconsistent. Their replies to our data requests have been incomplete, and we remain uncertain about how our direct debit was originally set up and who was authorised to collect funds.
Overall, what began as a seemingly simple upgrade turned into a costly and confusing arrangement. Other businesses should study all documents carefully before signing and seek independent advice first. Steer clear!

4Com put it right
EDITED: I received a call from support who has found a solution which I hope we won't ever need. They do want to support, and sadly, on this occasion, they dropped the ball; however, at least they acknowledged their oversight, so I am happy to adjust to 3* on this basis. Original review: I use 4com so that we never miss a call as we travel, but still want a landline for our business. It went wrong and we missed a weeks worth of Google leads business. Probably about £10k loss. I reported it to 4Com support who took four days to respond. I am looking for a new provider, but if you read this and are considering 4com (or one of their associated businesses such as HiHi) then I certainly suggest you ask about support turnaround times.

Very poor experience
Very poor experience, please do your research online and read articles on this company around their corrupt selling practices, articles on BBC etc. The prices after the network rebate are very high, we was promised (verbally) that our network rebate would be held after 20 months, despite repeated email requesting for that to be put into writing during our cool off period all my emails were ignored. We are now at the 20 month period and shock, they are not renewing our network rebate. please read other reviews and see that they did the same, all part of the training to get you to sign the contract, as long as its not in writing they can promise what they want. Emailed a complaint but was told that my emails wasnt replied to as salesmen are very busy on the road, sure they would of replied if we had another office we wanted hooking up with 4com services, couldnt get any communication at all once our cooling off period had ended.
HiHi phones themselves also very poor, i think we have had 3-4 break and had to be replaced out of the 13-14 we have, if we could turn back time we would of never considered neither HiHi phones or 4com.
Avoid at all costs.
