Unreliable and borderline unusable
I used to work for a company which distributed N-able products. Most of my experience with N-able comes from using N-sight and Cove Data Protection.
I managed the company's end-client devices, as well as reseller support for around 2 years. We had issues with the product nearly every week, whether it be features not working or failing randomly, backups not working correctly, restore operations failing, lack of features for common operations, etc.
And with each of these problems, I had to contact an unhelpful support, who would respond quickly but take weeks to actually solve the problem, generally beating around the bush asking for logs over and over, or recommending solutions that are completely unrelated to the problem at hand. They always blamed the devices before ever looking at the product itself.
I remember we had these two scripts (built using N-able's Automation Manager) that would fail randomly. Rerunning the scripts would fix the issue sometimes but often it wouldn't work. We tested these scripts locally and they worked fine, but through the N-sight dashboard they would fail constantly. Support was no help. It took us 5 months of beating around the bush and I never got to see the problem being resolved. To my knowledge, it is still a present issue.
Another time we had an issue where Take Control, N-able's remote access tool, would stop running on a client's device, meaning we had to access devices through different means. When speaking to support we were told that the service was just stopping and we needed to restart it. We asked them why this was not an automated feature, as we could have easily scripted something for this, and support told us it was out of scope.. HOW IS THAT OUT OF SCOPE???
These were just 2 of the issues we had. I could keep rambling on and on about how unusable and terrible it is, but instead I will end my review with this:
N-able will constantly tell you to "Automate, Automate, Automate". It's all they talk about at conventions and webinars. But they do not give you enough tools to automate, and the few tools they do have are very limited and broken.
Stay away from this company.
