READ THE FINE PRINT
I purchased a policy several years ago to cover my incoming water lines & outgoing sewer lines to my home.
I noticed a spike in my water bill & contacted ONCOURSE the parent company of American Water Resources. They sent a plumbing company to my home to search for a leak in my underground home water line. The plumbing company first thought the leak was due to a faulty "pressure reducing valve" in my incoming water line. The replacement part was quoted by the plumbing company at around $750- To my shock, I was informed that this specific link/part of my water line was NEVER covered by American Water Resources aka "Oncourse". I was also informed that other warranty companies DO indeed cover that expensive part. I read my policy & also sent it to my attorney for clarification. He pointed out their fine print in the policy. Notice the wording of your policy: "EXCUDED: Exclusions include, but are not limited to." That is where the company (IMO) can deny coverage on anything that they choose. It's a gray area that caused their refusal to cover that expensive part. I was informed that other warranty companies including Home Serve DO indeed cover that part! I will also add that this company outsources most of their claim phone calls. They are very hard to verbally understand & in my specific claim first assured me the part WAS covered & not to worry. I asked for a supervisor who then told me the part was NOT covered. These rep's are mostly hard to understand & often rude. I notice here they have some excellent reviews & maybe they are correct. But in my case, I found this company horrible to deal with when I needed them to cover what I thought I was paying for. I'll leave you with this. For your peace of mind, do your own research & study of these many home warranty companies & consult an attorney if possible so you will not be shocked like myself. I assumed that this must have been a solid company because their insert were included in my utility bill. Foolish assumption on my part. Be wiser than I was & find a good company who will not only take your hard earned money & deliver the repairs you need without some bad surprise that I received from American Water Resources aka "An Oncourse Company."
