HARD PASS! No invoices, unclear pricing, refused refund + retention tactic
My experience:
- I used CV Tools Pro once in late July 2024 to build a CV. I did not use it again because, frankly, I found it to be lacking for the depth I needed.
- I received no invoices and no renewal emails. My account showed no accessible invoices/receipts.
- I was billed ~$43.33 CAD/month from Aug 2024 → Jan 2025 (total $259.98 CAD) while the site showed $29.99 with no clear currency.
- When I finally spotted the charges, I cancelled the same day (Jan 21, 2025).
- Support refused a refund, repeatedly citing a 14-day auto-renew clause and linking to T&Cs, while ignoring the lack of invoices/notifications and my zero usage since July 2024.
- They then offered a “1-year free subscription.” I’m not looking for a retention perk; I’m seeking a refund for months I didn’t use—and didn’t even know were being billed.
- Their own checkout materials include “Satisfied or refunded within 30 days.” I couldn’t request anything within 30 days because I was never notified of ongoing charges and had no invoices to alert me!
Why this matters: Transparency isn’t a buried clause. It’s clear pricing, clear currency, ongoing billing notices, and accessible invoices. I experienced none of that here.
Advice to other consumers:
Screenshot everything (pricing, currency, “refund” language).
Check your bank statements—don’t rely on their billing portal (if you can even call it that).
If you see unexplained charges, cancel immediately and dispute through your bank.
Bottom line: In my experience, this was non-transparent billing followed by a no-refund script and a retention offer. I cannot recommend this service to anyone. Be smart, go somewhere else.
